Language on the forums

... sit down, kick back and relax, and talk about anything that doesn't belong on one of the other forums.

Your compensation is that we put up with you ...with a LOT of looking the other way :P

This isn't about Rig, though he makes a great example on occasion. This is about community members respecting the WoTMUD public sphere because it:
  • is the decent thing to do
  • is one of the rules to be able to participate
  • reflects on our community poorly if we don't
[EDIT] I'm guilty of using inappropriate language as well, but the discussion has increased my awareness and I will attempt to represent the community as well as I can when I post, chat, etc...

Taziar stealing my thunder. I am the top it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife unicycle apologist 'round these parts.
Another great example... strike 2?
Like it or not, i think the reality is that the standard for moderation, and what's accepted, has changed around here. I don't foresee a change in policy happening, nor do I see the forum commentary improving in any noticeable way.

The corpse of Rig is lying here.

The fact that some of us don't like this culture of verbal aggression doesn't mean that we walk around with STOP signs that bleep whenever someone starts talking :?
It is kind of telling that some people had an immediate kneejerk response of minimizing the concerns and throwing out more insults.

Honestly from this reading I think it is the people going "ohh offended snowflake?!" who are the most offended. They don't like the idea that they can't just say whatever the hell at any time to any one and they get salty about it.

The OP didn't read as "offended" to me. This does:
This is 2019 after all. Go ahead and compile your list of trigger words so we know what to censor. Actually i don't think a list would help since everyone is offended by everything now. Making it so the only thing rig can post is "i love and respect you" would still offend someone.
That response, just because someone said "hey can we maybe discuss being more respectful on the forums?"

e: I am pretty sure you don't want me posting here like I post on Something Awful, just sayin'. I'm mindful of the fact that people have kids etc. and I don't think that makes me a 2019 snowflake. I also don't want to heap a ton of work on imms whose time is better spent on the game itself versus moderating slapfights on forums and rude language tends to generate those.

Any suggestion that we act like adults on the forums is clearly part of the liberal pc conspiracy and we should whine like babies about being asked not to say firetruck every other word. It is the only way forward.
