How to test weapons (and list of re-tested weapons)

With the newly announced changes to a number of weapons, I'm going to be focusing on retesting to keep the EQ Trainer and Wiki up to date.

I already have a couple of volunteers who are helping out, and for anyone else who would like to contribute, I'd like to offer a primer on how to test and submit data to me if you wish.

To start with, I need the following information:

1. Race, Lvl, Str, Dex, Con
2. Prac% for weapon and shield parry if using one - for both, the higher the prac% the better
3. Specify posture if a Master, ride level if riding, H/H status of weapon, total weight
5. The weapon's weight, whether it is 1-handed, 2-handed, or 1/2-handed (some may have changed).
6. If you're feeling generous, you can include things like rent cost, item value (how much it sells for in rent), keywords, and ground description, though these are secondary concerns for now.

For less ambiguity, have all items either worn or in worn packs, then take stats in all 4 moods with no weapon wielded.
Then wield it and take stats in all 4 moods again.

I've got a spreadsheet set up that I use to derive the weapon stats from that, so just send me the raw stat command output for those 8 things for each weapon.

Giving this a bump since it's a really good project and easy if lots of people lend a hand. Thuvia's trainers and databases are remarkably helpful, but they aren't nearly as useful when the underlying weapon data is obsolete! So please, if you are using a weapon that may have been changed, and isn't listed as already tested, do the quick test detailed above and send Thuvia the information!

I should contribute to this… but may I suggest a "patchnote" type update to stats where we see the delta between stats since the last known info? Would be very helpful, I think.

I've been doing it at the bottom of each individual weapon's page, so for instance look at the 'a saw-toothed axe' page there for an example.

If instead you mean something like a summary page somewhere on the wiki showing the changes like I do in the second post on this page, I suppose that would be possible too. Let me know if that's what you have in mind and I'll see what I can do.

With a few exceptions (see the EQ Trainer post), most weapons that were changed have now been tested and both the Wiki and EQ Trainer updated.
