Pretty much this. What we will ultimately end up with is the weave will end pk or it will annoy people when they die to it, but they'll stay because they outstack the opposition anyway. Just like the people who use status weaves and get trash talked and allegedly end pk. In reality you just find a way to kill those people anyway, even if they are annoying to play against. If hoa was really that good more people would use it. I don't use it because I have never honestly found it that good. Annoying yes, RNG death inducing yes sometimes, but when I think of game balance issues it's pretty low, especially when you're talking about an imm enforced ban.

Stanislav doesn't typically read forums and is pretty late to any party and a pretty early party crasher on any trend.

I would appreciate it if you would roleplay your Ajah. I believe the White Ajah are supposed to be dedicated to logic (as a way of comprehending things absent from emotion)? The passive aggressive double periods and your complete lack of objectivity don't ever seem to help out any discussions.

Think there are a few names who have pledged not to use hammer of air. Stanislav is not one of them. If hammer of air frustrates you, don't use it. If you want to use hammer of air to frustrate other people, continue to use it.

The comparable arguments I see are hammer of air versus hurricane. Hurricane is a lot longer, but hurricane can be started with no one in the room, so can end up feeling like a no round weave and specifically is used to take advantage of worse communicators and worse PKers.

Neither of these skills are good for making better PK. But, regardless of whether people choose to use hurricane or hammer of air, I wish we had more people who roleplayed White Ajah characters.
One of those pinch your cheek moments.
Plus this is the players lounge, so RP has no place here.Though I know you're just being aggressive anyhow in your illogical response to an OOC remark dear.

We've beaten this horse to death I think, so I'll make this one last post and then in done with this thread.
Kryyg wrote:I believe the other concern is that HoA bash ignores all DB so it's not even a pure dodge issue, they are just the ones that get fucked the hardest. So you play dodge with the risk of being bashed a certain percentage per bash attempts but with HoA your entire set up is negated.
As far as not factoring in db, I actually think this is a very good thing. If it did, you'd have a short weave that could bash absers 75% of the time and comboers 50%+ of the time... that would be nuts. 5% seems reasonable.

Now, as for changes. All coding of course, but here are my suggestions. Two options.

1) make it an air version of flamestrike. 10 sps, no bash, same timer, same damage.

2) increase weave length to match bash. Keep the bash component unchanged. It is currently 80-85% of flamestrike damage, so up it to the same percentage of spike damage, and increase weave cost to 15.

I think with both of those options it would still get used. Simply remove the bash or lengthen the timer on their own and it would become another useless weave that would add nothing to the game. I like variety, and would hate to see every channie become even more cookie cutter than they've started to become.

Just figured ill finally post my opinion, though I am neither a good pker nor do I actually have HOA practiced at the moment, however I have gotten many quick kills from it.

I personally use it when it better suits my prac setup, the bash component is a good bonus for the reduced damage and can result in significant damage for anyone who wears full dodge.

If we consider trends in the last few years, the people who usually practice this weave are tower channelers who are very prac conscious due to the many weaves they are required/wish to have and its the easiest to practice weave with the timer of a flame strike.

I think the best solution, should it be possible, would be to up the prac requirements for the weave. Nevermind adjusting the weave itself. This would put the weave on a level with hurricane, the only way to get it would be to spend the pracs on Air for literally this weave alone.

My personal opinion would be to up the cost of Hurricane to lvl 7 air and HOA to lvl 6 air, or HOA to 6 air and Hurricane to 6 Air and 6 Water, Being as heal, cure critical, whirlpool and elemental staff are the only weaves that require more than 4 water, and none of those are used often outside of the yellow, or random testing by a brown apprentice every few years.

First time ive seen it live in pk. Yes bash on that weave is too OP. I join you all in hoping bash gets removed from the weave. (Still going to use it because of saved pracs)

At this point I think this has become the issue with the most consensus among players that I have ever seen in like 17 years of being here. I strongly believe there is enough support here (and a lack of opposition) for an immortal supported banning of the weave until a better solution is implemented.

After rethinking the situation...I have chosen to get rid of the weave altogether.
