Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign

Kryyg is bad
Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
Dont know if a certain class/setup being prevelant on a list means it is overpowered, most likely just means it tends to be more conservative/high survivability. It is way easier to accumulate(sp?) tps as a stabber and if your playstyle is already somewhat conservative your survivability sky rockets compared to bashers, combo or abs, since they generally will have to drop some hps to get a kill, wheras a stabber can just keep trying for stabs without really dropping hps if they are so inclined. The class itself just tends to favour a more conservative playstyle. Think I can count on one hand the amount of stabbers I enjoy pking qith/against.
Tldr: stabbers suck.

Easiest 'fix' to Rogues without taking away their "deadliness", would be to set caps on Wil and Con.
DS rogue max Wil 11.
LS rogue max Wil 15.
SS rogue max Wil 15.
All rogues max Con 17.
DS Rogues have it easier than LS Rogues in general hence the difference in Wil caps and the 17 Con will prevent 400+ ultra survivability rogues running around.

Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
Ta'veren/Reaver was never about the best pker. It was about the most conservative pker. It used to be an accomplishment when absers and combo players made up the list but, we're a bit far from that now.
I don't think rogues are your problem. If you're too lazy to check where or set an alias for k h.whateverrace. I don't know what to tell you, other than learn to do it.
Playing a rogue is difficult as a human or ss. Sure some people that don't spam or travel the world oblivious to others make it look easier but, it's still difficult to stab and kill people usually. Now that numbers are low, you spend half your time searching the globe in search of a group of smobbers to try and land on one and pray you don't get jammed up in a door etc.
I think this thread originally started as a cry for help because the same 10 people are arguing on this thread, when in it's essence the thread was designed to discuss how to not get to this point. It's not the game. The game is fine. We are not attracting new players because we're not doing enough to go out and get them and bring them in. That is the problem. It's not rogues, it's not fc's, none of that matters to a new player for at least a year or so at best.
Think about it. What are we going to do? As of right now everyone has elected to sit back and more or less hang out and complain about personal issues related to their game experience haha. It's your world, we're just living in it.

Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
I think this is spot on. When I found the mud and was a little bit more of a newbie than I am still, all that I cared about was that I was able to explore and interact in the Wheel of Time world I had read about in the books. I remember Dougan was Caemlyn and my mind was blown that a madman was on the loose and able to cause a hurricane emote through an entire zone! (I didn't realize at the time Dougan was a mob too!) Also, *Razhak* sneaking in and out of CCS made me think that lowbies couldn't even look at fades since he'd sneak out before I could look at him. I found it so cool that a player could actually become one! The next biggest concern on my mind was how was I going to map it all and not end up getting lost in the dark in the wilderness when I left Caemlyn. Also, a shout-out to some guy named Dorhan who amazed me with his tale that Shadar Logoth was actually in game, and that he had actually been there! It was quite the immersive first day.stela wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:00 amIt's not the game. The game is fine. The game has a LOT to offer and depth of experience to a Wheel of Time fan, even if many of us playing for a long time have gotten focused on the bonuses and endgame stuff.
Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
We've become jaded. It's what happens when you do the same thing for years and years and years..
Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
Gonna throw out there that people I've tried to talk to on Reddit / etc. seem very happy about the fact that there is a web client with a map now.
e: People also don't realize that equipment stats are available now also, it seems like. A couple responses along the lines of "No equipment stats makes me not want to play wotmud. No way to tell which weapon is the best without guessing on mobs."
People who checked it out years ago but were turned off by things that have since been fixed might be a good target audience!

Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
feel like we have everything in place but players. Ironically.
we have to devise a way to go out into the world and find players. Physical bodies. We can always make tweaks along the way but, quite frankly we have an extremely robust world, a helpful playerbase (what's left anyways), and a pro-active staff. I'd say the only thing missing is the new people themselves. Anyone have any ideas outside of those suggested in the original post?

Re: Adding to our Playerbase - Campaign
I think one thing that's been lacking is people socializing on globals. It just adds to the atmosphere of 'nothign going on' and makes people log off. Also, people hoarding pk for themselves without narrating. If you want 1 vs 1, you can always add that, but when you have the process of
"Tracks of Doncarnage 2n"
"On DC gap"
"1 vs 1ing"
"He's crit"
"1 vs 1ing"
"Rip DC"
That gives a whole other atmosphere than a whole lot of nothing and then the rip.
And yes, I realize Discord partly contributes to that, it's the one downside, imo. Then again, that originates in people simply having less time and their phone is always with them.
