Probably just bitter (most likely) but I highly doubt this type of thing would have been done on LS. They would have killed, scalped, and returned most eq, minus vials etc.

Yes that is bitterness, but one bitter event can really put a bad taste in your mouth for a while if you let it.

I've personally returned herons/etc in very questionable "link dead" situations. I've seen many others do more generous things.
As always it depends much more on the players than on the side.

That. A lot of the people you're fighting against are also the people you're fighting beside, just because they decide to log on a different character doesn't turn them into an asshat :D Except for people who RP asshats obviously!
