How will it end?

Post by boboliosie » Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:17 am

I think I deserve my own AoW each time, so you guys don't have to go digging through the stab/fail thread to find my posts. The question is, will this be a stab, or a fail?

Ragyn came to hurt me...

1.5x multiplier for sitting. Ragyn learned something there tonight, assuming he couldn’t get blicked while sitting. I have died several times by rolling the dice and letting my bash roll risking the sitting disengage stab, but never once has it crossed my mind to down stab. Reminds me of when Tyrex got stabbed in pk then lobbied to get rolling on engaged targets removed. Or the Weir’s and Rhys who let rogues miss on them so they can zerk charge. Or 3 zings for missing a bash. Call me old school but I’ve never thought these things needed to be changed when Ive died to them.

This is one of those things you roll for as a basher :P

Like Zangief said: if you dont want this to happen, cancel your timer once you see he flees out

I know how it ends though: it ends with Bobo giving that sword to Razhak!

I mean we can talk about how this is a risk for a badger but let’s seriosuly discuss the numbers. He took the risk and let’s say he landed, he would do 70 his damage. Let’s say he missed, then he dies. Now let’s say Bobo rolls a stab and lands, he will do anywhere from 150 to a blick and in this case gets a sitting multiplier. If he misses he will do no damage and maybe lose 70 hit points assuming ragyn lands a bash.

There is no comparison there is no right or wrong. There is a broken class that is defended by all the players who rely on a no skill dice system to get their kills.

We literally have a 90 page boring ass stab thread that just shows healthy rogues rolling stabs and getting kills. I’m not sure why that’s entertaining. It’s just proof of a broken skill.

Call me old school but games with wiz kills and no or minimal risk never interested me.

Sure, remove the wizkill possibilities and see how often some players would die. #Rulingelite

Wonder where we would be if you couldn't fireball someone for 100+ hit points in the same amount of time it takes to complete a bash timer without being engaged at any point in any time!

I've played and fought it all (dreadlorded troll rogue and troll abser) and with the exception of a 2 year period on SS when we were fighting newbies every day, nothing on this mud is as easy a troll rogue master (and probably stabby wb master). Perhaps more important is that they are, by far, the most annoying characters to fight against. Almost every single time one of them show up (either by trying to stab you, stabbing, your or otherwise), it leads to much eye rolling irl. Just no fun to fight against. Most of them flee around healthy running stabs and time stabs. Eventually one of them lands and if it does it's a wizkill unless you're healthy all the time in pk. So basically there is this fly that is hovering around you while you're trying to play, and any moment if you take your notice off of it or if they plain just get lucky (with at time stab that you could do nothing to prevent) you're dead. Not to mention that they're also frigging annoying to have on your side. Instead of engaging they'll watch you die on your abser, won't group, won't help you buff, etc. Why? Because it's so much more profitable for them personally to just sit around and roll stabs, and flee the moment they get engaged, then rinse and repeat.

I love fighting vs channies (especially while on a channeler). Fighting channies on a basher is less fun, but then so much fun when they finally get bashed and streamrolled by a group. Was a great change to lower max hps to 280 hps (which btw I was a huge proponent of despite playing mostly channies nowadays) to make this easier. Channies are real glass cannons nowadays, can still deals tons of damage but also die super easily the moment they get bashed at wounded or lower. But they don't wizkill people ever like stabs do. Only chance for a real wizkill is with multiple channies weaving the same target (which I agree is bullshit). But even that takes many players acting in unison, takes the players staying in the room while they know the channies are there, etc etc. Wizkills from stab just take a single player and can happen at any time without notice. And nowadays the healthy rogues running around time stabbing people have 360+ hps. So even if you do land the lucky bash and try to steamroll them, they're usually going to flee out at wounded or batt, not at critical or dead like channies.

These characters are just plain toxic for pk. So many times nowadays I'll go up on Taleena all the way into Keep just to start pk. Run into a couple of people at well who are just sitting around with thumbs up their ass, then I'll run outside RK. What's the first thing the rogues immediately try to do? Try to stab me. I just walked all the way up through Blight where the mvs are horrible and there are now 100 different ways to kill me if you set up the right blocks. I'm usually not getting out without quaffing at least 2 vials. Even if you're successful and you blick, then boom pk is over and you'll go back to being afk with no pk. This is just an example but indicative of the larger phenomenon that happens because of stabbers. No-one wants to pk them and because of that they're toxic to pk continuing.
