Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
I've not logged since this change, but master mobs was the primary reason I ever wanted to reach master, on either of my two masters.
From the sound of it, I would not like this change, #SetThemFree
Also, yes, Immortal response describing the purpose and goals would be appreciated.

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
I don't have an opinion on mob lead because I dont have a master rank char.
But the #MasterRankProblems is killing me. Yall are acting like the master ranks carry the game, but you don't. You are the pinnacle of the pyramid that needs the grunts under you, you cant have an army of generals. This talk about numbers and player base being affected by perks of master ranks is so far off base it is almost laughable if it didn't make me want to cry for the game.
Just a reminder, no player starts off as a master. Most players never make master rank. (For perspective: it is taking me longer to get master rank in this game, than it took me to get my masters degree!) It would seem that right now most players are not even making lvl51 and clanning. Those that do push through the imbalances because they love the series and in turn love the game. While I appreciate the tweaks to try to balance things the real problem is we are not a new player friendly mud, as much as we try to be. The game has evolved to where you masters have forgotten how hard it is to be a newbie abs anything. There are many points in this game where I have fallen more in love with it, and none of them have to do with Bonuses or Balance. They are when I realized the DS master who just nuked me solo had alted to ls just to help a newbie smob. When a CoL took me under his wing to show me how to get back a basic set in amadicia so I could wear something to join a smob group. When a goldplated combo came out of "safety" to break a block for me only to rip vs the gank squad, but he saved my life (and my abs/burni/h&hmallet set to go with it) and was happy to do so, cause him getting the best combo set was easier than me getting a basic abs set.
If we want a player base boost stop playing your masters. Play characters that dont have any bonuses and HAVE TO group.

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
I like the current changes.
In regards to humans: I've personally lost the ability to spam mobs around FD/dusty. I've stood in FD while a group of 10 darkside ran around and sat in the no mobs and thought - a week ago I could have dropped Fal Dara on them. My solo smobbing with a mob has turned into a chore - in full armor I can still get the job done but it is much weaker.
That's ok. The Imms put that no mob there for a reason. Perhaps without masters doing their thing anymore the no mob should be somewhere else but that's a separate easier discussion. As far as that soloing smob alt is concerned - plenty of times I was solo smobbing and someone said "anyone want to smob" and I just kept doing my thing. I didn't want the bother of dragging another person around - especially because so many people just want to go AFK all the time. But this is supposed to be a community. The simple truth was anything that can be smobbed with 1 channeler + 1 mob can be smobbed by that same channeler and another player on an abser. I could have helped make another player's day. I'm sensitive to people with time zone issues - I've personally signed onto alts I wanted to develop, saw that nothing was happening, and switched to my solo-smob alt. People need to make it a point to communicate with each other. Think about that the next time you sign on and say hello and no one replies.
This game has been entirely focused on fades. They were the one's with all the ability to adapt. We should just as easily been asking ourselves what a solo Lion Warden in Caemlyn or a solo Ghar in the keep should have been able to do when the other side comes pouring in. We didn't - you're either a master or you are nothing. I don't see the solution to this as re-upping the most powerful - we should have considered reevaluating the PK zones to try and make patrols and mobs more available to adapt to a world where people won't be showing up with all the mobs in the zone at their beck and call. Perhaps level 16 is too low for a master mob, but figuring out the right level for mobs between 16 and 25 is cake compared to the silliness of some people's lead.
The idea that fades and darkside are currently voting with their feet because of how downtrodden they are is just dubious to me. People have been leaving out the door for a long time and just because you're still here doesn't mean you have the answer (that applies to all of us posting). I still think the heart of the issue is that you can't have so many predators if there are no sheep - the game never focused enough on humans and players starting out (that's a semi-historic comment because I do believe Vampa/Imms are trying). A good LS day is mid-20s - that can't support 10-15 darkside. Darkside has an echo-chamber of "we're superior" so here's my unpleasant possibility - there should have been 100 more masters on darkside. A lot of darksiders got where they are while the basic people sat in the circle after the PK and missed the scalp split. For all the talk of armor and berserkers, those were the players who got the shaft. I'm sure there will be an outcry at this, but there's plenty of people who are old as dirt and never got ahead. I personally don't think there should ever have been fade ranks - there comes a time when people need to stop taking scalps and turn around and help others. I'm sure this will also trigger a - "I earned my scalps solo" but not all fades are Lykan and I watched plenty of heads disappear into the packs of people who already had it all.

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
I miss stacking fence/woods with soldiers. It honestly only worked out half the time, probably less.
I think the overall impact on the game was negative with the mob lead change. I mean from all the anecdotes from above and siiutations we are seeing it basically boils down to two things:
1.) We had mob lead, it was overpowered at times, it was overused at times, it was amazing at times, allowed PK to continue, allow things to be done that couldn't be done. In all the above situations, all parties involved had options and ability to act accordingly. You could hit the guy at a patty (or Ilsae) knowing he has a grouped mob - or you dont, you could continue pking outnumbered with mobs on your side or go in and end it.
2.) The current situation. No mobs. No options, once you're outnumbered you go in. Once you're bored and can't do anything without a mob, you rent.
Despite what everyone says it added variety and enjoyment to the game which far exceeded all the whining.
Also, all the fades are overpowered talk is such nonsense. First and foremost, the effort and time to make a fade far exceeds any other path on this game. Second, fades have been downed multiple times over the last 10 years. First I believe DPs were added so you couldn't use your abilities limitless. Then group fade was removed. Attack was removed. Fade shirts were downed. Shadow stallions are still not on par with the best human horses. These are all appropriate and I don't disagree. The most overpowered part of a fade continues to be sneak flee, a defensive ability but people still think a fade in PK just means 'omgz we cantz pkz thatz go in til we have 20'. People who complain about them need to understand in comparison to their LS counterparts - warders - they are underpowered. The difference between a trolloc and a fade is far less glaring than a warder and a non-warder human. There is a reason why the Reaver list is more often than not filled with trolloc rogues rather than fades.

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
TPs are a bad indicator on what is overpowered and what isn't, reason you see rogues on it isn't because they get daring kills, its because they stay alive, get a stab off they get all TPs,wheras a fade is generally leading a group so tps get split. Same as you see ta' list mostly consisting of wolfbrothers/stabby types, the odd Warder/channeler every now and again.
For me the best feature for fades is zerk attack. If comparing to warders I'd say warders are way better offensively, disregarding the lack of zerk attack unless your Sedai is online, and fades are way easier to survive on if you are practiced for survival, ie. high sneak/rsneak and fear, trolloc moves, fade, compel etc. Saying fades aren't bonused is pretty silly - its just that the majority of those bonuses are defensive/passive bonuses other than zerk attack - which is damn sick imo. granted I didn't have a fade/warder back in the day of attack with all swords. But even with that said, its rather easy to circumvent the warders biggest bonus, so there is that.
Just because fades were sickeningly good back in the day, doesn't mean they aren't powerhouses these days. If you knew how to play your character instead of following Jestin around you'd know that. Also stop samesiding me!
Edit: can also just mention the Pk dynamics of not having to worry about horses etc. when chasing. You have compel so you can keep going until you run out of DPs, wheras chasing with horses you have to keep an eye on that, small things that matter.

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
The point was not that fades are not bonused characters. They obviously are. It's the relative bonuses they have to their trolloc counterparts vs warders and humans.
Either way, the majority of PK involving mobs is obviously with non-fades given the shear numbers of fades vs masters in general.
And asshole! The last 3x I died to you, I'm fighting you cross race, serk on you then 5 pop out from your ass! Second, I am same siding you, serk, and 5 pop out of your ass! Killed us both!! And lastly, same as the first situation! Stop being lame Rark. Just die to me when I serk

Re: Master Mob Lead (Way beyond 30 days) #SetThemFREE
Well that was purposefully taken out of context to argue your point. If your swarmed Blight and have no chance to fight or smob. What do you do? If your on LS, there is no PK or there is but you don't have numbers for PK or Smobbing...
Granted. I am totally disconnected not going to argue that at all.
Still the best game ever!!! Was certainly more fun in the past but I believe that is more me than the game.
