Stanislav doesn't typically read forums and is pretty late to any party and a pretty early party crasher on any trend.

I would appreciate it if you would roleplay your Ajah. I believe the White Ajah are supposed to be dedicated to logic (as a way of comprehending things absent from emotion)? The passive aggressive double periods and your complete lack of objectivity don't ever seem to help out any discussions.

Think there are a few names who have pledged not to use hammer of air. Stanislav is not one of them. If hammer of air frustrates you, don't use it. If you want to use hammer of air to frustrate other people, continue to use it.

The comparable arguments I see are hammer of air versus hurricane. Hurricane is a lot longer, but hurricane can be started with no one in the room, so can end up feeling like a no round weave and specifically is used to take advantage of worse communicators and worse PKers.

Neither of these skills are good for making better PK. But, regardless of whether people choose to use hurricane or hammer of air, I wish we had more people who roleplayed White Ajah characters.

To summarize my takeaways from responses to this thread:

1. Most people somewhat versed with HoA at the very least consider it annoying and not fun, and at worst consider it unbalanced.

2. Some people are fine with it staying the way it is. However, no person argued strongly for it staying the way it is. The strongest argument I could see for it staying the way it is were that "it saves me pracs" or that "hurricane is bad too" which do not seem very strong to me.

3. A potential long term solution would be to keep the bash and lengthen its timer to exactly the same as regular bash. This could potentially be coupled with an increase in damage to around FS damage.

4. A potential short term solution would be for imms to outlaw the practicing of HoA until it is fixed which may require coding.

Thanks everyone for participating in this thread. I'm really impressed that we were able to discuss things civilly for so long without a thread lock.

I knew there was a thread about hoa but didnt bother to check in before.
Channelers piss people off and ruin pk. Everything but fs/spikes piss people even more and ruins pk even more.
People make threads like 'lets ban this or that' all the time.
What else is new?

p.s. I die to hoa's more than I kill with hoa's due to facing multiple channelers on regular basis. Yet I dont like weaves being banished or adjusted just because someone thinks they need to be. If we going to get rid of all the 'lame' weaves then we should just restrct to fs and spikes.

I don't agree with the suggestion that the issue is the timer. Between an actual basher and dodger, bash is an uncertain dance that takes into account all the things that each of them brings to the table. It is awesome. I reiterate - I have zero expectation that any change will happen. When I read the thread initially I literally almost wrote - someone will suggest that if the timer is longer this will be ok and ultimately someone will even take it a step further - it will be suggested that an even longer timer should be associated with a greater degree of likelihood of success. Screw that. If you want to bash - get a heavy weapon, high STR, and practice it.

I have 2 channelers I love playing. They have so much versatility and ways to gimp their opponents. Bash should squarely remain in the column of people willing to pick up something heavy and practice it.

I believe the other concern is that HoA bash ignores all DB so it's not even a pure dodge issue, they are just the ones that get fucked the hardest. So you play dodge with the risk of being bashed a certain percentage per bash attempts but with HoA your entire set up is negated.
