Sparring/Combat Training

Post by Reyne » Wed Aug 09, 2017 1:34 pm

Hey everyone,

It occurs to me that as fun as PK is, I'm terrible at it! I'm sure I'm not the only one either :)

I've been thinking about organizing a monthly or bi-monthly sparring meet up. I'm also hoping I can get some more experienced players to share tips or teach basics. How to deal with various common situations, how best to set up scripts, etc.

This will tentatively be Tower clans only - Gaidins and Valon Guard welcome as well. Not totally sure on the etiquette surrounding that but I would like to get a decent mix of classes so people can practice somewhat more realistic situations (as realistic as sparring can get anyway)... so personally I'm open to making it open attendance.

I'm making this thread to gauge interest and maybe figure out what days would work best. I'm going to begin reaching out to some people over the next few days as well but also wanted to make a general announcement.

Let me know if interested! ~If nothing else~, I'd at least like to get the Accepted and Novices together for some basic combat classes (pending Aes Sedai approval of course).

Just don't be too surprised if there are some accidental deaths during 'training'

*mine most likely*

And if you don't like the idea of CoL coming along - I might just have to join my new (first) FC to Tower so I can learn some tricks.

zone knowledge
decent gear
timing

everything else comes with time :)

in that order. if you have amazing zone knowledge you are already better than the majority of players in the zone.
gear helps, lets be honest.
timing is important. use scripts if you need to get the edge. I'm not a fan but, i know it can help. i.e. bash script is dope.

This should be considered illegal and abuse.

long as i've played, a lot of better players than I have used them. I personally never figured out how to do it due to lack of scripting knowledge but, It was more of a joke than anything brocas heh

@Briana I know, I agree with you. I was just stating my opinion and I hope its something that is punishable if caught.

Anyway, I'd be willing to help you Reyne if I'm available when this happens.

Ahem, I was never forced to spam drink, Because I have No triggers like that whatsoever.

I once did however emote that "your lantern has run out" repeatedly, And made Wilkerson remove And drop all his lanterns So that he died in the dark to me ;)

It's not punishable, but it's so blatantly obvious that I'm all for persistent public ostracizing!

It's also why I straight up refuse to do the whole '1 v 1 stab war me, m8' anyone on my stabbers. Dumb as dung and pointless to do with triggers.
