The issue with channelers is that they have fewer "ifs" on the way to killing someone. At the end of a channelers spell - you take direct damage and die. At the end of a bash - the channeler could dodge the bash, could deflect the shots, could autowimpy out of the room, could take one of the hits and autowimpy and flee or autowimpy and stand thereby being unbashed. If if if if if. A lot of these issues are just part of the honestly flawed autowimpy system, but when I'm on my girl fighting a beaten basher I think I like my odds with a spike or fireball verse a bash. I time it right and I might not even have my channeling-malus when your bash timer completes.

Contrary to you guys I don't think this is necessarily an issue. I like that there is a class with a fundamentally different dynamic. Not all classes should be the same. I think it is good that channies have very high damage output and that the certainty of dealing that output is high. But they should not also have great defense capabilities, they should be super easy to kill as a tradeoff for their high offensive capabilities.

I do agree that the multiple channies on a single target scenario is over the top, so that should be fixed, but I don't agree with nerfing damage for single channies. More damage is usually better from single output sources, that's what causes more people to die and things to be more exciting.

I would really like the channie class to evolve in similar ways to the trolloc zerk warrior bashing class - people who play the class should be the daredevils that want to have the power of doing lots of damage and don't care too much about the downside (dying a lot). In other words I"m trying to design a class that would be super fun for me and others with similar playstyles to play

Which, again, is why this log being used as an example of channies being OP is so bizarre to me. Alison rolled the dice and won, but could have easily ended up dead with better rolls for Pulverwise or slightly different tactics.

I agree with you - I think the damage element of channelers is absolutely perfect on a lone channeler. My wish list has been:

1. HP cap on channelers.
2. Some coding to reduce multiple channeler damage on one target ("Some of *Jestin*'s ice spikes shatter on *Mangler*'s ice spikes aimed at Vaen!").
3. Some kind of weight malus to encourage lighter combo or dodge.

I've also thought the idea of removing free target from channelers is kind of moronic and fundamentally destroys the class.

Channies should be capped at max 250 hps. I bash and frag channies to hurt. That is fucked up. Channies need to die in 1 bashed hit with 4 serk heron frags.

So to be clear here:

In zee books channies were mucho powerful, but they got fucked up real easy if they didn't have a warder ect. Also accepted never left the tower without a Sedai iirc.
Definitely didn't ever fight no trolls or Seanchan till they started getting dung on at the tower with everything going on toward Tarmon Gaidon or whatever the hell it's called. firetruck accepteds and their 350 hp.

Lol, aes sedai didn't get "fucked up real easy" without a warder in the books. There are plenty of examples in the books of aes sedai and other channelers wrecking house without a warder.

This isn't the books though, so yes, channies could use some tweaking, but they're certainly still killable. Many of them are pretty bad, so just adjust accordingly.

Wrt channeler discussion, just had to say
Zeeb wrote:Our non stabbing of horses is to encourage blight pk
I like what Wept is suggesting about downing individual channeler stats (down to something like my fc who has 260 hps :P), but the problem of numbers is something that LS does/should regulate. It's as 'OP' that any troll rogue with a dagger and nothing else could halve the moves of the entire opposition.

We could even have Lancers/Tower post something ICly like - The Brown Ajah has discovered that too much channeling of either saidar/saidin in the Blight creates an instability that would shake the seals or something - so that female channelers are expected to maintain balance - if a DL is in the game, then you can have 2-3 fcs, otherwise stick to 1-2 max or 1 if it's up to 4 DS etc.

That seems untenable.
