Want to learn
Hi,
I have been reading the books all over again and got excited and have come across this game. It looks like something I want to play but it looks daunting to learn.
I have been looking for a client for the Mac so I was curious to which one may have a way to use a map. This looks way to scary to learn without a map. Could anyone give me an idea of which one allows that.
I guess from there I just take forever to learn. Thanks for any help.

Re: Want to learn
Mudlet works on Mac, and someone who uses a map should be able to point you to one: http://www.mudlet.org/download/
Map is definitely a good idea for starting out, and will help a lot with the learning curve. It can be steep, but it's usually easy to find people who will answer your questions if you say you're new.
Make sure to 'listen all' when you're in game to be able to here globals, and use 'chat' if you have questions about how anything works. Good luck!

Welcome!
I use mudlet on Mac and it works well.
For maps -- I found that making my own map is helpful for learning the zones. I use the mapping script found here: https://github.com/ysuo85/WoTMUD-Mudlet ... wotmapper/
But, if you don't want to make your own, I think you can download one (search for 'Saal's map'?).
If you do decide to make your own, it is still helpful to have a fairly complete one to refer to. I use this one (which you can download): https://app.box.com/s/65d0ff701e5a718a8d93
The Wotmud wiki is an excellent resource for all sorts of information, including a lot of maps of various zones: http://wotmud.wikia.com/wiki/WoTMUD_Wiki
Feel free to ask me if you see me on and have any questions!

Welcome to WoTMUD!
If you can
1. snag a character from the giveaway forum or
2. use prerolled stats or
3. stat a warrior from Illian
do it so you can start playing right away.
You can stat better characters later after you have a feel for the game.
Cheers!

Re: Want to learn
Thank you everyone for your help in and out of game. So much confusion. I decided to play Hyjal a 19 11 14 19 17 warrior. I got tired of the staff so I bought a amber hilted for now to use.
Are there low mobs I can solo gor gear?

Re: Want to learn
I'll be on later today, I can help you get geared up. Not sure if there's anything you can solo at low level to get decent gear but I'm fairly new myself too so someone else might have some insight on that.
Going for combo I guess with the 19 dex (dodge + absorption vs just one or the other).
