Hey!
I didn't realise you still played - and would love to have you back, (the original player of Aliar who hung out with you.. maybe 10 years ago? maybe more).

In respect to pkers smashing smob groups - it is a disadvantage for tiny groups hitting large smobs - I do know there are several tactics people have been using which if you want to email me I'll let you know what I think they are.

I think the main thing for me if I was smobbing as my main goal would be to wear something I can just replace from smobbing more

Dartes is a lot of fun - you should come joint DSworn :)

Seemed like the post was genuine at the beginning, leading us to believe you were actually seeking guidance. What it looks like to me is that you played long enough to form an opinion of certain clans and workings of the game and they obviously weren't compatible for you.

This doesn't seem like a genuine help, guidance or advice thread for you, it seems more like a vent for you to call specific facets of the game despicable.

Like so many have pointed out, obviously pk isn't for you since you don't like winning. There are plenty of RP options left since that's the world you would prefer to live in and with what you've said I'm sure you are fully aware but you'd rather just call people who have invested time into what they choose to(Masters?) a waste of space... I can't even take your plead for help serious.

Not exactly sure what the problem you're listing is - you've said you like to smob and like to xp - so wouldn't that take care of the gear/level caused by pk deaths (since you aren't into pk, i presume you don't care about tps)?

for re-gearing, if you are smobbing then wouldn't you be able to keep a few sets aside on a char?

for me part of the fun of logging on to a char in col (which happens quite a lot to me :p) - or ALL my chars in col is that you've hit ground zero (especially if all your rents are also empty - which also happens to me a lot  ).

at that point it's like this fun adventure to see what i can scrounge up by buying cheapie weapons and hitting lowbie stuff, then giving up because i'm that bad at it, and just running through fd/tv/caemlyn barrels for some gear - in the meantime, someone often comes along, sees me uneqed and tosses me gear which kind of ruins my adventure a little bit but i can't tell them that. on the other hand, you can move on to the next adventure faster (pk).

It sounds to me like there's plenty of stuff on the game that you Do like - the only thing you don't like is a master killing you. or were you asking about mastering for yourself (i.e. joining a clan?). Maybe consider a Tower alt - as a clanned fc you have a lot of weaves to play around with and can annoy someone trying to kill you.

Or else you could RP a squire to a really good pker - supply them with vials/gear they want with your smobbing, in exchange for protection/vengeance :D

You could use your good hunter as an RP-WB (as lykan suggested) and then explore the ways whenever you log on - then if someone attacks you, you can just run into the ways (although hunter with autotrack will be able to chase) .

Otherwise what about playing on DS more? I don't think any LS players go chasing pk too far north and if htey did and you ran into some kind of door most people won't hit inside because they'll assume a fade is incoming :p Most of the time in any case if you avoid scout rooms i don't think people will know.

If it's col time you hate, just grab a book or watch a movie - i finished half a book last time i played, across some 6-7 deaths or more.

And what about zones like the waste? I don't think anyone goes there - if you want to roam around by yourself, you can just drop link at a no mob there as a kind of 'rent' :p

Or start a PRC - i'm sure people would join if it was fun. (Like I would love to join a Seanchan converts or whatever it's called in the books :P) Give yourself all the fancy titles you want :D It is text after all.

I don't know if any of this addresses the problem you were thinking of. I couldn't tell too clearly from your post - it's good to know for yourself what is fun and what isn't fun on the game. What counts as fun/unfun varies so dramatically across players.

p.s - forgot to add, i don't think you even need a tower fc. I think create fog is a wilder weave - i remember this one player who kept lockshear fogged for at least an hour or more while a huge number of DS got increasingly frustrated :P i was on DS at the time - it was pretty funny

As others have mentioned, this doesn't seem to be a thread where you are looking for solutions, but rather a place to air perceived grievances. Unfortunately, the clans you really seem to want to join are more pk focused, especially in light of the bonuses. Those clans demand a certain level of pk activity. But nothing stops you, as Lykan pointed out, from RPing as an unknown wolfbrother. Hell, if Perrin hadn't met Elyas he would never be known as a wolfbrother. As long as you aren't claiming to be a part of Justice clans, you should be fine. And there are plenty of people who will RP with you. Hell, there is a whole new way of gaining qps from it now via RP forums.

As many people have said...roll a pk alt and give it a shot. People are helpful to new pkers and often will re-eq them from loot or from smobbing when possible. I know I was staunchly an RP only player until I took a shot and rolled Ashlee. Now I play her quite a bit.

As far as hating those of us that have multiple characters across clans....most people don't play just 1 alt exclusively. I have several alts that I bounce between, slowly advancing them at the same time. There is nothing wrong with that, especially to challenge people who have been here a long time. If you are struggling to clan somewhere, it is likely that the clan is not a good fit for you or you are being an asshat and no one wants to clan you. But there are plenty of assholes who get clanned, so I imagine you just need to find a clan that fits your interests.

RPs fun and all, but who would log onto World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy and role play what they want to be? No, they grind for it knowing they can reach it.

WoTmud game and community says you can come here and join the world of Robert Jordan, You can one day be a Sedai, a Wolfb(r)other, a Gaidin, even a fade or dread lord..... but not really. Not even with years of mild gaming where people have more to do in life than they do in mud, don't really have the knack or time to really PK for days with no end (looking at you Rig). Just saying. False advertising and decade-long teases. But hey, WoTmud just weeding out the weak. More recruits for the Cav. We have bonuses, no long lines, and no threat in the Western Blight.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has wanted say a wolfbrother/dreadlord for a decade, but that is very different then trying to/working towards one for a decade...

I don't understand Paj. There have been more than we could possibly count, who have joined those clans, a lot of whom probably did so while mildly gaming. Explain to me why it can't be done?

I pk endlessly for long amounts of time yes!

I think Paj is talking about the often spoken problem of these clans and the elitism of them so to speak. While I agree with many of the said comments about how you don't have to play much, nor be an asshat, that it can get you clanned into any of these said clans pretty easily, you're all also spewing bullshit when you say that any "average" player has a fighting chance to get into these clans.

Compared to someone who has the right friends/knows the right people, their chance is extremely slim to the more experienced player. It doesn't promote anything or help anyone either. It's kinda shitty to the small player base as it is imo.

I'll be honest, I'm having a lot of trouble seeing the elitism argument. Fades/DLs, when the most likely path to either is through just being a troll master and doing some widely-available quests and tasks for altqps? When in the last year or two we've had tons of people remort, such that it's now really uncommon to *not* see a remort in PK? Sedai, where both RP-focused sedais and PK-focused sedais shawl (knowing entirely different groups of players I might add) and both types typically spend a long time getting there? Gaidin, which is hard to get into but also has a ton of people in it?

Knowing people helps for the same reason being a decent person helps - like a lot of things in life, people are looking at your skills and how much they're going to want to be around you for years. There's no vast conspiracy, just people being people.
