You realize we changed it so every previously secret clan can decide whether they want to become known or not, right? If the players in said clans decided to opt to stay secret either as a clan wide decision or a personal choice, that's their prerogative. If not, that's ok too. It's their choice these days.

I think it's more the sentiment of, "hey, I know that fc is throwing fireballs and travelling so is obviously Kin, and I'm a sedai, but I'll overlook it because we're killing trollocs and I don't care to go through the hassle of ruining her character through RP BS."

And the almighty "I know you have golden eyes, but in wotmud wolf brothers aren't outcasts, aren't scary, aren't considered possible shadowspawn as they were in the books, so I'll PK alongside you and not bother with any kind of RP harassment for being different while we're sitting Tar Valon square. Hell I'll go a step further and treat this 'loner' wolf brother to a trip to get Justice."

There is no danger in being Kin or Wolf brother from LS. Benefit is you don't have to deal with White Tower BS for either.

Black Talon only have an issue because carrying out tasks possibly requires killing clanned people. And that actually carries the issue of unresolvable warrants even should they kill someone without witnesses.

Faul and Elysia two of my favs.

It just pissed me off when I could easily tell who belonged to something special and yet I was not allowed to mention it.

As a non-clanned FC I could not ask a non tower FC why she could use Fireball. But I knew who she was. The flee {direction} of a clan member. Shiat if push comes to shove I could even point out who were the DFs by rare interactions.

I have no doubt that both of you have alts in almost every clan. There are a lot of long term players who do not, who mostly played their own game, but they are expected to keep their mouths shut about what they know ... !

Oh Paj you are right - the Tower does no RP against obvious WB or Kin (or even wilders.)

Hey Abunar,

I think you just need to maybe actually try? I noticied you post about how you "could have clanned easily here and there decades ago". About you ripping mobs etc. I am unsure, since I don't believe I have met you yet, but maybe change your attitude a bit to more positive. RP does not net you into clans (from what I've seen), unless maybe Gleeman, Illuminator, Wisdom etc. If you are trying to clan into Gaidin, and you die over and over to random unclanned trolloc for example, it just won't happen. Maybe start over, ask someone for help etc.

Seems to me youre confusing what you, as the player, knows from your ooc or meta knowledge of the game compared to what your character would know.

If you're an average Joe from Caemlyn or wherever, why on earth would you know what a wolf brother was. You wouldn't associate bandits as anything other than bandits, I would suggest you wouldn't even know Black Talon existed and highly doubt you would discern what a clanned vs an unclanned weave was.

As to applying your knowledge, you're free to allege that a person is a member of a certain clan or another, just as that person or anyone else is free to deny that allegation.

I might be missing your point, but I'm not really understanding what your issue is here

Something like this. As a Sedai, I can probably identify Kin RPishly - I know how complex weaves are and I know that no wilder is going to be able to master WvD or fireball.

But even then, I'm probably not going to do much - it's a hassle for me, since the burden of proof is on me, and even if I succeed, all I get is ruining someone's character because they were careless. And the way Wotmud works is that everyone remembers everything, and creating an enemy in a playerbase this small isn't worth it. And besides, they're helping kill trollocs, so it actively hurts my chances of getting kills if I do something.

I mean, you're welcome to play however you want -- you'd just have to be RPing a particularly dull Borderguard, which may or may not be a stretch. Plenty of WBs had H/CoL warrants back in the day and that's because CoL had the prerogative to consider WBs shadowspawn. Good on them, they were always one of the better clans at accepting consequences for how they want to play. It made sense both RPishly and in terms of gameplay when the playerbase was large enough for same-side conflicts. Borderguards feeling the same way doesn't really make sense, but like I said, you can RP the exception and see where it goes from there.

In the past, the ones who actually managed to surprise people are the ones that you'd confuse for just random murderers. The ones who dressed too nice and sat in Cobblestone Paths for everyone to see were the ones who pretty much wanted to be found.
