If you're bored while the mud is down ...

Go over to the wiki page and add some updates! I've been doing wiki pages for the last couple days - I have 0 experience editing wikis and it's been easy and fun. You can update your clan page, your city zone, your favorite smob, etc.

Just want to say great work on your recent edits. It's always good to get additional help over there. And continued thanks to everyone else who are helping make it a useful resource for the community.

Is it possible to give a couple of quick highlights on the sort of info people can add? Might be a bunch of people thinking "I don't know anything about weapons stats or smob loads, not much help I can give."

As always, thanks for a great resource!

The wiki is pretty exhaustive - you can give information about clans, quests, items, zones, mobs, smobs, crafting, shops, cities, etc.

For example, I added some info about the Sal Cav (retools, issuable eq, locations, etc). Then I added info from logs about several smobs including clan heads. Then I noticed that some basic trolloc mobs were missing and added incomplete pages for them so I or others could return and edit them in the future.

What Ibzon said. My goal is to make this as complete a repository of info as is reasonably possible. Three are even pages for things like abbreviations and acronyms for new players, a list (incomplete, hint) of all the socials, commands, etc.

I'd really like to see an expansion of the guides. Right now we have a couple on exping and smobbing, but both could use work, and others such as money-making, pk guides ( general, class/race specific, etc) would be nice.

For clans, add recruitment info, laws of the land, etc. For mobs, while eventually I hope to incorporate some type of automated submission form, for now just add load logs to the discussion pages. I take care of all the formatting and such myself after that.

The most important thing is to just add stuff. Don't worry about syntax and formatting... I'm happy to go behind and tidy up, and equally happy to advise on how to do such things. Mistakes can be easily corrected as well.

Is there anything that can be done about getting some of the stuff from the wiki moved over into help files in the game? It would be hugely helpful to new players.

I believe help files are coded, and without an active coder there's not much chance. Flash is generally only involved on major issues related to game stability and such.

However, as noted on another thread, it is possible that certain things can be included in room keyword descriptions (postings of nations' laws, map of a city/town, that sort of thing). You could try to think of something additional that would be appropriate for that and suggest it, though I don't know what might fit offhand.

Couldn't a link to the wiki be put on the time message fairly easily?

Wiki isn't official like forums, player supported so I doubt a link to wiki would ever be put in somewhere. Best we can all do is continue to point people to the resource and keep Thuvia's post about how to use the wiki effectively on the first page of the help forum.
