Finding a spare seat in the tavern wasn't usually a problem for Racquel - often enough there was plenty of empty space both at the bar and in the back with the dicing tables. After the inn had burned down overnight, though, it seemed that the tavern was completely full with townsfolk sharing their stories of the day. Taking a mug of ale, Racquel turned to look for a place to sit for the afternoon as it turned into the evening. And should the evening turn into much later, then so be it. Openly glad that it was anywhere other than the tavern that burned down, Racquel finally found an empty stool in the corner of the bar - What would a person do all day if there was nothing to drink?

Racquel couldn't help but hear the gossip that floated endlessly around the bar. From the Mayor's daughter to the destruction of the inn the night before. In a place such as this, rumours couldn't help but be fuelled by this kind of gossip. Personally, Racquel couldn't understand who would want to destroy the town inn. Moreover, -why-. Staring into the mug of ale, Racquel seemed to give a shrug of the shoulders, 'Well. I'm sure the truth will come out soon enough. Best just to enjoy my ale.'

Aira stood gazing at the blackened inn, the smell of acrid smoke invading her nostrils.

What on earth were they to do? Their once quiet village had turned into a boiling cauldron overnight. She grimaced at the phrasing she used, given the firey death of the inn staff. 'Bah' she said, and she stomped away to get some breakfast.

Xoco mingles in the tavern for a little, then goes and checks out the charred wood, but doesn't know much about dendrology.

Shock ran through the town..

After the fitful nights sleep, Firimei woke and dressed. She grabbed some food from the kitchen and rushed out. An acrid smell of burning reached her nose and she coughed.

The town was covered in dense smoke, she heard voices.

'The Inn is a blaze we need buckets of water, hasten up boy.'

'How can anyone do a thing, what this Town do to deserve such wanton destruction. First the Mayor's Daughter and now this!!'

Hurrying Firimei worked through the smoke filled Square, getting mixed up in the throng of people. They turned towards the elbow jabs, with faces covered in cloth.

Glancing outside, Brocas could see a dark smoke wafting from down the street. Still hungry from the night before, Brocas heads downstairs and has a large breakfast before heading outside to find the source of the smoke. It becomes painfully obvious as the charred building comes into view. "I'm glad I didn't stay there last night. That might not have ended well." Brocas wonders "What could have caused this? A lightning strike? No.. I don't remember waking to thunder last night. An arsonist? ...and why didn't the other builds burn as well?" As Brocas works through the crowd, murmurs of the mayor's daughter's death can be heard.

Ah yes, Pial thought, the Mayor is using a tragedy to expand his powers. A common tactic by those who wish to appear good while increasing their control of a populace. Pial thinks to himself if the guards decide to show up "randomly" at his abode he will deny them entrance for this is a terrible precedent to allow. Of course any man who stands up for that which is right will be seen by many as trouble making, but progress is not made by not upsetting the herd.

Callesa muttered while reading the post: "I'll gladly cooperate. As I know nothing and have done nothing, it won't take long. If only I could tell who were the investigators. After all, it wouldn't be wise to let a pretender enter my home in these times."

Had stopped by the inn momentarily to offer her condolences to the innkeeper, and to press upon him that she would help him in any way that she could. At his polite refusal, Ashlee walked aimlessly down the street, noting the looks of surprise and fear on everyone's face. Light help us, something is amiss here. And she deeply hoped that the major would get to the bottom of all of this.

Aldwyn sniffed and snorted as he woke, an acrid smell filling his nostrils. He looked around quickly realizing he was still alone in the room. He stood quickly and looked back through his window to the town. Seeing the last vestiges of smoke rising from the charred remains of the inn, he sighed. A crowd was gathered around it some carrying buckets, most just watching and murmuring among themselves.

He should really go down there and help, he thought to himself. But what if one of the people down there was the one committing all these foul deeds. He eyed the crowd again, looking closely for faces he knew well, or any that he didn't know at all. It could be any one of them.

No, much safer to watch from here. His stomach grumbled.
