Edir 2: more qps per scalp != more scalps to be had ... yeah i agree it wouldnt hurt to up the rewards but im reading a few aeguments saying theres usually somekne not getting a scalp. Well more qps per scalp wont make more people care about this game.Lord Pe wrote:Almost anyone who can do that arent good for the game in my opinion. Kinda like the asshats who log in then nar pk? Then log off in less than a few mins. Play like you want but dont pretend like youre really a part of the community.Hope wrote:All you guys talking about mastering in 2-3 months. WtH! It took me 10 years to hit 1k qps lol.
Edit. Yeah grammar and me arent gettin along today. Tuff titty i spose.
Edit 3. I hate forums.
Re: Petition for Old Scalp rewards!
Pro: Easier for new people to become master
Pro: Easier to get Rank 8 if desired
Pro: If more/most people are masters, then we can balance everything to masters
Con: New players are always going to be up against this
Con: Once dedicated to a character people will reach goals quickly and then typically leave
Con: Status of master is diminished because of it being easier

I thought criers used to be able to split heads. This was/could be/is a great way to split heads or war scalps. I know 3/5/7 can't be split in half, but maybe make it 2/4/6 and those can be split better.Lord Pe wrote: Edir 2: more qps per scalp != more scalps to be had ... yeah i agree it wouldnt hurt to up the rewards but im reading a few aeguments saying theres usually somekne not getting a scalp. Pro: Larger time savings for the average (skill and availability) player.
Pro: Experienced players will reach higher goals quicker, thereby reaching the point where they no longer want scalps sooner.
Pro: Balances rewards based on current pk environment, such as numbers, average skill level, etc.
Pro: People might start new characters since goals are more achievable, which means more non-masters playing.
Con: Doesn't address the issue of too many masters or balancing bonuses. Scalp rewards can only move the problem closer or further down the road.

Status of master hasn't mattered since about 2005, I would say.raal wrote:Pro: Easier for new people to become master

Cons: there are none!
Re: Petition for Old Scalp rewards!
I think the point is just that scarcity of players to kill should be balanced by increasing the amount awarded for killing them. The increase would be a natural response to player numbers. (This doesn't help some people in PK from missing out still, so people who are capable of awarding (:P) should also start awarding regularly again.)
Re: Petition for Old Scalp rewards!
I thought it was the taxidermist in whitebridge. It could be the crier or whomever it is that "spikes" heads. At any rate just dredging up how to work it and seeing if people would use it to make everyone feel like they got something, assuming they participated, would be interesting.
Re: Petition for Old Scalp rewards!
I think you have to look at the Quest Point system as a whole and what it intends to do if you want to figure out if a scalp awards increase is going to be healthy for the game or not. My experience with quest points: I have never had a character above rank 5... not once in almost 2 decades. This is because I am not a PKer. PK is already the only avenue to mastering, well... unless we have another 3 decades for me to turn in enough silver bells during the holidays.Vivienne wrote:Hello happy people! I need everyone to stay on track for this topic, in which I have asked you to give pro and con bullet points for scalp awards changing or not. That's the scope of the discussion that caught my interest. Not looking for alternatives, or code based changes, or anything else - just tell me why (or why not) you have a stance on this and make it topical to game health instead of personal gain. Thank you to everyone who has stayed on topic so far. I'll be locking this thread on Sunday night so get me your pros and cons by then, or forever hold your peace.

So is an increase in PK scalp awards best for the game?
If you want the only way to realistically gain higher rank in the main RP aspect of the game (clans) to continue to be through PK only.
Another question I have that I think relates to the discussion is why was there a recent (in the last year) rule set in place to limit people to only be able to turn in 5 tin chits per RL year... a recent limit set on qp acquisition and here we are discussing increasing rewards?
