Dear AoWers,

Having in recent times witnessed in log format the often hilarious ineptitude of DS (particularly of its rogues and "Generals"), I thought I would rub it all in with a nice, old log where you are quite spectacularly pathetic! :-)

This log is the conclusion to about 2 hours of PK, starting Tear, moving to Mayene, then moving to Mirk, Secret, Spine, and up Spine. Santino led, one group directly and the other group (including some ungrouped humans) by globals, for the duration of the PK. DS outnumbered LS, and LS retreated to Mayene lands, where Santino began leading. DS was quickly outmanoeuvred in unfamiliar territory and lost 2, then retreated to Mirk and Spine. What ensued was a long, slow dance by Santino as he gradually wove a web around DS, picking off 1 or 2 in skirmishes that DS *should* have won, forcing DS, little by little, into a corner. I have never witnessed a more complete display of the potential of great leadership. He manipulated DS so perfectly that their every decision was his decision, though they didn't know it.

Cue the proverbial nail in the coffin.

I'd hope that Winged Guards would be able to out maneuver anyone in their home lands, it would be pretty said if they didn't. So it comes as no surprise to me ds lost that particular battle.

The only thing I find pathetic is your attempts at insulting ds leadership.

I wonder if anyone has ever thought about instead of just being a complete moron when maybe a leader (LS/SS/DS) makes mistakes, try pointing them out without the usual taunting, insults and condescending attitude that I always see and hear.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Rig's log - I just don't see much in chasing someone across 10 rooms to get a kill. May be he's a fantastic leader, I just need a longer log to really get a feel for it.

And please don't use the RP card when we're looking at PK skills. By that logic if DS ever lost a battle in their homelands (Blight, KK, etc) it'd be sad.

Edit: I take it back, it was 6 rooms that Rig chased, and the work was done for him in all but one case - the others, Pial got aggroed or he walked into the group.

Who said anything about RP? its about zone knowledge and numbers, if you have relatively even numbers in pk, the people with the best zone knowledge are generally going to win. I've always said, zone knowledge is one of the main things that separate good pkers from great pkers, Judging from who is on that ds list, they can correct me if I am wrong but I dont think any of them have that a better grasp of those zones than the winged guards.

You need zone knowledge to be able to regroup quick (without running into blocks) and where to chase, the great pkers dont rely on auto track that much, its a matter of chance really and knowing the zones down to the dot, help with these chances.

Its not just best zone knowledge, someone might have encyclopedic knowledge of a zone and panic in pk.
Knowing and accounting for strengths and weaknesses among your group and in your enemies.

Some groups can run around split blocking all over the place because when its needed they'll all be able to hit and can all survive solo if they do get hit, other groups trying to do that get picked off one by one.

Its unsurprising LS won in Mayene as very few DS know the zones - all you need to do is win that original encounter and then clean up.

Yeah, what happened was that even though they had 9 to our 4 outside Mayene, they were disorganized. First they picked off some humans around Mirk and Tear, then we lured them to Mayene. We hit them with a group (led by Santino) and they were caught off guard by how organized we were. They outnumbered us, but they fled and split. One ran Andor, one died, the rest ran secret. The PK continued slowly north from there, with brief skirmishes along the way, three more trollocs died during that time, and eventually they found themselves in a dead-end situation where they could either fully commit to a confrontation after well over an hour of pk, or high tail it to the blight and get picked off one by one in the process. They obviously chose the former. Manpower was a small part of it. Santino outmanoeuvred and out-thought DS while being outnumbered the whole time until the end. It isn't the fact that he beat them, it's *how* he beat them - with complete assurance.
