Assumed you couldn't vote on multiple chars until you posted this...

Then I went ahead and voted 8 times. Voter suppression is a serious crime Paigey.

I am going to vote to continue the auction. But with the caveat that people who win the chits are checked to make sure the gold was not made using the bug.

I can't think of any way we could be sure of how people get the gold, without diving into code functions, which really is not optimum. The caveats that we somehow police or otherwise justify how each player gets the gold and verify the validity of their winning bid aren't practical. It's very disappointing.

I think that about answers it. There's been an underlying assumption to this thread that Flash could easily resolve this whole thing and sort out the cheaters on some sort of very advanced timetable.

Perhaps in time the error will be fixed and perhaps they can also figure out with time who abused the feature. Until then there's no guarantee at all that this will "take all their gold out of the game". If you can replicate an essentially infinite amount of gold then all you need to do is beat out the other bidders with finite amounts. If I bid - well, apparently over 100K gold to beat you, but I have a million gold crowns you haven't really depleted me.

Do the following:

1) Keep Auction
2) Make sure any rare/unique items are played
3) If you bid > 10K gold, investigate

Done.

If you look at the auction you'll see that most everything is over 10k. Maybe investigate all the 30k+ bids

I thought I was doing well with a max bank account.

I'd zap Rark and Davor. No idea if they cheated, but zap them anyways

It's possible to ferret out if someone earned their cash legitimately, even across alts, it just takes a lot of time.

I mean, if you have been farming brigands and smobs for months on end, that will show up on your trophy even if an ungrouped mob gets the kill hit sometimes. Certain mobols leave traces. Exchange mobs leave records. It's definitely not a long-term solution, but for now... or for selected items, I certainly wouldn't rule it out it as an option for this particular auction or at least certain items of it.

This is pretty much a work in progress. I know more now than I did when the bug was reported and there is the possibility that I will know more in a few days. But as with the Ways, one can't always tell ahead of time if time spent will acutally pay off in the form of a solution. If for some reason Flash doesn't/can't fix it, we're already looking at a mobol solution. Whether things actually get fixed, or whether we can effectively track it in the future, that's a whole different story. Suffice to say, if it doesn't get fixed or if we can't make it traceable, this will have been the last auction.

@Neveyan, even with all the time I spend upstairs, I can easily muster 30k. 10k might be a bit on the low side. :P

Please auction these items through another means. That is the only solution.

Let it go, the amount of gold some people have is atrocious it needs removed. How the fk do you get 150k-200k of gold sheesh that's commitment if legit.
