A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Most of the items move around through PK, though it still really sucks.
The big issue here is copper and iron chits. These items are huge deal - to some extent they are the only things that really have value anymore.

any of you cheatos want to buy my vote?
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I'd change my vote if I could now. After thinking about it and reading some of the responses here, I say let it run it's course, except for maybe the chits. As paigey said, those are what really carry value now a days. The gear, as long as it doesn't get stored, will get passed among players as they live and die in PK. If the auction helps get the dupped gold out of the game, let it runs its course.
I do think a good name and shame would be appropriate here though.

I would think if they knew who abused the bug, the imms could just take the gold from those characters and we would have a fair auction again?
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Gear is whatever, pull the chits off the auction or figure out another means of dispensing them in a seperate way? Like gold rings/ jcuffs as currency ?
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I vote we let the auction continue. If it's found that the winners of any of the items used the bug, maybe just take their gold when it's time to pay up and not hand them the item?
I just say this because i spent a long time saving up a ton of gold specifically for the auction, and would be disappointed to miss out
So I also realize that it's a little self-serving.

I was actually surprised to not see a whole bunch of new registrations for the forums lol. Yet, it seems obvious to me the vote is getting skewed by a multitude of people voting from alts.
Anyway, I know that mobol can 'take notes' as it were and, not knowing the bug (so may not be applicable) if the staff knows what the bug is, can't an Argle mob or something be put in to record who is doing it?
I say let the auction continue, name and shame the cheaters, and get the 'blood money' out and the nice eq in. As long as they aren't just storage folks, they'll die soon enough and the nice gear will be in the game in due-time.

Continue the auction, let the inflated gold into that sinkhole, fix the bug and life is good.
One time I killed Kyr with a longblade, then the next day weapons got an overhaul.
Also if someone wants to explain that gold duping bug to me, for a friend, that'd be great. He's broke.

Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Let it run, if the cheaters win take there money and give em nothing. Maybe let it go to the 2nd place vote in that case. If the cheaters and 2nd place were bidding war. Give it to 2nd place at where it started. Then name and shame the bish's. And set all alt accounts to 0 lol.
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Another option is to turn the auction into a lottery, like Cerys had with simple fireworks.
Everyone has a equal chance of winning whatever they want by turning in an item to participate in the lottery for a certain item/item lot.
i.e.
Turn in an ancient tree scalp for lot of 5 axes.
Turn in a cheap brass ring for copper chit.
etc.
