Yea I think my problem is that I’m really bored of:

DS:
Run straight to blight from dusty 1v1/2v2/3v3/etc instead of using camp/ctf/kno’mon whatever. Happens way too often. This is when channelers are not around. Lack of use of stedding/no channs when channelers are around is also obnoxious.

LS:
Straight to dusty. Lack of use of ls/Blands/ctf/commy/etc. Also happens way too often. Dreadlords, while I agree are firetrucking dumb, showing up and the refusal to try no-channs or sted is annoying to me.

I think at this point it’s kinda just a bunch of players not wanting to die and only get gains. Which is whatever, dying sucks, but it’s a part of pk and the actual competitive drive to get better or win is pretty nonexistent. It seems to me that people make one of two choices; only pk with a winning advantage and refuse to accept or take risks associated with keeping pk going, or completely give up regardless of skill level. A lot of the “elite pkers” left pk with this kind of mindset and wonder why nobody thinks it’s fun or why I make fun of them.

Examples of risky fun pker: Kryyg/Jestin/Tarak/sometimes Sarryn/Weir/Zarth/sometimes Draz/Mhaliah/sometimes Byrg/Roberto/

Examples of unfun no-risk/winning advantage only pker: Faul/sometimes Draz/sometimes Mephistopheles/Jaster/Sraeyn/sometimes Byrg/sometimes Sarryn

These are just off the top of my head examples. A lot of these players aren’t only in one category or the other though as I lazily show above.

Maybe it’s just time that we all start trading scalps and only pking in hillmen leathers with bone clubs.

Some very good points being made here. So much has been done to alleviate the problems with dying. 5 minute Circle instead of 15. 5x xp, rares everywhere, basic equipment in most racks and barrels, etc. I mean it stings a little when you lose something nice but just relax, you'll probably have something similar in a day or two. When I left I gave away a pretty nice haul of rares that I had accumulated just on one character with a pretty small window of playing time and 0 smobbing.
I think the crux of the matter from what I'm reading is this is probably not an imm fix but a player fix. To use an example most will understand; you can choose to play Madden on Rookie and win 77-0 with no risk of losing and still be terrible at the game. Or you can choose to up the difficulty and become a better player.

Edit: Also, what is the process to transfer this char to LS? I don't have a ton of time to play lots of alts

Sup Sup Everyone!

I have been back for over a week now. I downloaded Mudlet and got a lot of help from a lot of you all. Thank you kindly!

Now, I pk on both sides and have been getting my feet wet more and more. I pk on both Masters and Non-masters as well as rare eq and regular eq. I like playing regular absers/comboers tbh as it makes for fun pk. (at least for me). I have so much fun tbh.

I am not going to comment on others pov as that is your experience of what you consider fun and what you can do with your pk abilities.

I find myself playing ABS (non-bonused and regular eq) and my survival has been great. I know that I'm prolly going to spend the whole fight beat-batt and the inevitable crit but here is where I run around to survive. Come back when guys are regrouped and we hit, they hit and everyone is low (using the correct mobs based on numbers and group's health). This will entice a back and forth on both sides with risk vs rewards.

All I'm saying is that I am having a lot of fun (as ALWAYS) and never have I ever since I started playing this game felt the need to think the game dynamics were against me. I've died to Sleep/Stab, Sleep/Incin, Incin (The old myth of having a blanket and rolling around..was that proven to be true? *mutter* lol) , doored, and a bunch more. Heck I recently walked into a DT like a NOOB with a full set and bunch of other shi* and just laughed so hard LMAO.

The game is fun if YOU make it fun. Like somebody said, These type of posts we have all seen over and over the past 20+ years. Just enjoy this great game we are still lucky to play.

It's good but PMA only goes so far. After enough getting rekt it gets old and time to dive headfirst back into PVE! Maybe... >:D

I too have been pking recently (whenever i get an hour anyway) after several years. I actually find it pretty good and have little complaints. Only issue is the player numbers but thats a boarder problem.

Another thing I noticed vs the past is that I could handle myself pretty well in abs outnumbered if I was using mobs. However, the abs absorption is alot less effective these days (probably due to masters + higher dmg weapons) which makes outnumbered solo pk in abs pretty difficult regardless of mob support. In the past I could pk beat/crit in abs perfectly fine outnumbered. Just an observation, not a complaint, and only relates for solo outnumbered abs pk.

However, all good!
