Yeah the night angel is absolutely not a well written series. But punishing dark ninja characters have a special place in my heart! And the story isnt horrible. The language really is though.

Gentleman Bastards book 1 (Locke Lamora) was on Ebook sale today for 1.99. And I got book 2 for 4.99. Gonna give it a try tonight, and I have high hopes given how much praise I've heard about it from a lot of people.

Recently finished The Goblin Emperor, which was actually rather fantastic. It's fantasy more based around court intruige than big action or cliched battles. If you like a little more 'think' with your world building, this is a great read.
Also read Half A War, the final part of the Shattered Sea series by Joe Abercrombie. All in the series is a great, easily-digested fantasty series. I enjoyed the last part, but not as much as the other 2. Still a great read.

I finished Bastards book 1 this morning. Holy hell it was worth the price of admission, so to speak.

I've recently read the first two of John Gywnne's The Faithful and the Fallen series: Malice and Valour and am quite looking forward to taking the third Ruin away with me to the south of France in a few weeks. Fortunately, when I get back the fourth, Wraith is due out in July IIRC.
On a less positive note, I am starting to get a bit frustrated with David Webber's Safehold series, I commented on my local authority's on-line catalogue that a list of characters that takes 50 (yes, FIFTY!) pages, at the end of the previous volume (7): Like a Mighty Army is a symptom that there are just too many characters to keep track of (and you cannot whether each new name is someone that is going to be a big player in the story or a bit part to be killed off in a couple of pages). The latest, which I read a couple of days ago (8): Hell's Foundations Quiver, has stretched that listing to over 80 pages of entries. The basic premise is promising but the execution is getting bogged down with endless military actions on various sites that is spread across the Safeholdian World - and they hardly ever stop to have a, well described, cup of tea!

I just finished the 2nd Gentleman Bastards book (Red Seas Under Red Skies) and holy crap was it good. Just bought and started the third book now, but liking it too so far. All the people recommending these books were on point.
Lyren recommended Patrick Rothfuss to me, so I'll give Name of the Wind a shot once I finish Republic of Thieves.

Ive become a big fan of Brandon Sanderson now, loving the stormlight series so far.
I also enjoyed the first law by abercrombie...and most stuff by brent weeks.
