Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
Everyone,
Some 3 months ago we made a change to Far Madding and the surrounding lands - something that had been high on the list of requested zone changes for years. The most often used arguments were that Far Madding being north of Tear road had vastly increased the distance to Tear Road, Tear and that this had had an effect on pk in the area.
Essentially, Far Madding is now to the southwest of Glancor, as opposed to the southeast.
Tear Road connects to southeast Glancor and circles Far Madding and its lakeside. There is one connection between Tear Road and the lakeside zone.
The southeastern gate and lakeshore connect to the area south of the southwestern gate.
The connection between Maredo and the southwestern gate is closed off.
This seemed the most acceptable compromise between shortening distances north-south between Caemlyn and Tear while letting the Far Madding zones remain mostly intact. Let me stress, and I mean ab-so-lu-te-ly stress, that Zone Admin has said that we will not be removing the city.
That said, I'll be happy to listen to your feedback and suggestions on this particular change.

Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
I like the changes except for one thing: I want the connection to Maredo plains opened back up.
Main reason is bookish: It is called the Illian gate and I think it needs to have a route that somewhat resembles that.
From what I saw over the years the connection to Maredo plains did not have as vastly a negative affect as the opposite side did.

I'm not one of those mappers or zone explorers so correct me if i'm wrong on my observations.
The east side of far madding didn't change did it? It's still a long stretch of area with no horses and is utterly useless at it's previous and current state?
The north side from what I can tell just got a different entrance point which is around the bazaar dealers area in Glancor, ok sure that's fine..
The southwest part of far madding from what I could tell was unchanged except for the fact that you can't leave that zone to maredo plains. This was a terrible change imo.
The southeast part leading to tear didn't really get changed much either did it? I dunno didn't seem like it.
Overall I didn't really see much change or point to the changes. I thought it flowed a lot better as it was. But that could be just because I don't think the new changes really did anything of use. I don't mind the north entrance being where it is now, though it is awkward as heck. The east zone is just excessively long and large and useless. And unless there were horse loads added to it, it's a completely avoided zone for me. The southwest zone was my favorite of the far madding zones as they connected to maredo, that got removed so that wasn't very exciting. I think the east zone could be shortened and add a horse load. The southwest zone could be reduced slightly in room volume and the the exit opened back up. I don't think anything in the town was changed as far as I know either correct? That is fine with me, it's a seldom used city and has a ok layout though excessively large city.

Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
I love the Far Madding change, still I think it would be nice if the exit to Maredo was put back in. Would also be nice if there was a horseload somewhere near the eastern exit.
Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
I like it. Removing the Maredo connection was kind've the entire issue with FM, idk why you guys would want it back. I guess it doesn't really matter now, though :p
Someone needs to find Sneha and tell her about this, she'll be so excited.

Does a "Thank you" count as feedback?
If so then thank you.
If not, then thank you for letting us thank you.

Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
I got confused and agree with the eastern pine zone, good for pines maybe. Although serves no purpose with its current lay out. The rest of the zone is OK. Although the Maredo exit/ent could be returned somewhere near where it was previously maybe?
Good change all round though.

There was a way-gate in that neck of the woods, one imagines with the ancient technology involved in THAT the immortals wouldn't want to fiddle too much in the area...Magdan wrote:The east side of far madding didn't change did it? Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.
Was there ever enough feedback on this to warrant the return of the Maredo Plains entrance east of Lugard that lead to the Illian gate of Far Madding through the Diagan zone to be reinstated?
Pretty please...

What i absolutely miss is the connection to maredo. Other than that the changes seems good to me.
