I think it's time.
If it's not a secret clan, I think they should start putting together automated entry quests for clanning.
The playerbase is so small now that even if you were to get a bad apple, they could be weeded out very quickly through traditional means of dispatching people who shouldn't be allowed in the clan.
it IS just a game, contrary to popular belief. A lot of people will be very upset at the idea of loss of control, but this will inevitably combat pettiness and wierd control elements that run rampant even in our small playerbase.
If you require a "vetting" process then perhaps ranking quests per each rank may be introduced but, I think this would be a very positive change for the mud and you would see a lot of very happy and excited players pursuing lots of different avenues including interacting in the game.
Please discuss.
automated clan entry
Re: automated clan entry
I have been a proponent of this for a long time. Illian Companions has had a system drafted up for years and if we ever get an immortal that is willing to put it together than we are a go for automation.
Re: automated clan entry
Automated clanning is an awful idea. What clans are people having issues getting into due to any means of pettiness or some weird control complex? I'm personally having a really hard time thinking of any, and I'm probably in most clans.
When it comes down to the nitty gritty of clanning, all you need to do is not give up after 2 days and not start spewing dung out of your asses. I think there's probably been 2 or 3 characters I've went out of my way to make sure they didn't clan.
Reasons simply being:
They'd rather try to cheat/lie/whine their way out of a simple process. They went out and then cried and whined, creating whatever stigma that it was the #l33tz or whatever simply not liking them as players. Using imms to block clanning. List goes on.
I'm not discounting that this was likely prevalent way back when. It just isn't true now. Once you create an automated process, you completely bypass any checks and boundaries that are necessary to keep people from taking advantage of getting into a clan.

Re: automated clan entry
We're not considering this at this time.
