Nama says 'Light..'

Makeetha says 'I was there for Manetheren's war of independence from Andor.'

Nama says 'Manetheren?'

Nama says 'I can't even imagine that many years.'

Nama says 'Older than Ogier..'

Nama says 'Wisdom..'

Nama says 'How have you been so long on this land?'

Nama says 'In any case.'

Nama says 'I came to the Tower.'

Nama says 'They provided me with a home.'

Nama says 'I knew they were the only place I had to turn.'

Makeetha frowns.

Nama says 'So.. It isn't that I seek the shawl..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'I understand.'

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama smiles happily.

Makeetha says 'I...'

Nama says 'Sorry if I blabber a lot.'

Makeetha frowns.

Nama listens attentively.

Makeetha says 'I just feel bad that girls think the Tower is...'

Makeetha shakes her head.

Makeetha says 'Nevermind.'

Nama says 'Please.'

Nama says 'Go on.'

Makeetha says 'I feel bad that girls think the Tower is the only place to turn.'

Nama says 'May I ask what you mean by that?'

Makeetha says 'You don't have to break a girl down and build her back up for her to be safe.'

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama nods slowly.

Nama's brow furrows.

Nama says 'Yes.. that is something of what it was like for me..'

Nama thinks really hard.

Makeetha says 'I, too, thought that was the only choice when I was young.'

Nama grins at Jiera.

Nama sit down on a bench.

Jiera looks at you both and smiles.

Makeetha mouths, "Sheriam?!"

Jiera smiles.

Makeetha says 'I left the Tower...centuries ago'

Makeetha smiles happily.

Jiera's eyes widen.

Makeetha bows her head to Jiera.

Jiera says 'Then surely you have many stories to tell.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

An old woman has arrived from the south.

Nama grins at Makeetha.

Nama says 'I never did get to hear the story about that Forrester..'

Makeetha says 'I was just telling Nama...well I was telling her how I left because I discovered that there were alternatives to the Tower's way of making girls safe.'

Jiera says 'Although I'm also curious about you too, Nama.'

Makeetha grins evilly.

Makeetha says 'He was a wild one.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'You can tell us both about him in a minute..'

Jiera turns to look at Makeetha and listens.

Nama looks at Jiera ponderously.

Makeetha says 'Oh?'

Makeetha looks at Jiera.

Nama says 'A curse?'

Makeetha says 'I suppose that's how many view it at first.'

Nama frowns.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Not all girls discover their ability with healing, Nama'

Nama nods in agreement.

Jiera says 'Oh, that is not a pleasant story. But I am more curious about you than to yammer on about me.'

Nama says 'thinking about what you've been saying.'

Nama says 'As a child..'

Nama coughs loudly.

Nama says 'I'm still a child..'

Nama says 'I know..'

Jiera says 'Now, Nama, you say you feel like a child?'

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'I was saying..'

Nama says 'In response to the Wisdom..'

Jiera says 'By the banded dress, ring, and you being an Accepted you have certainly grown more than most children have.'

Nama smiles at Jiera.

Nama says 'I suppose so..'

Nama says 'The Wisdom has been telling me about..'

Jiera says 'Yes?'

Nama says '..her disagreements with the Tower's methods.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'And..'

Nama says 'Hrm.'

Makeetha says 'I don't believe it necessary to tear a girl down in order to build her back up and make her safe.'

Nama says 'Well, this was after I told her of my childhood..'

Jiera says 'You mean the White Tower Kennel and how Sheriam Sedai is our Trainer and Mistress?'

Jiera's eyes look dark for a second.

Nama smiles at Jiera.

An old woman leaves east.

Nama says 'My.. earlier.. childhood.'

Nama says 'Where I came to the Tower.'

Makeetha nods slowly, eyeing Jiera warily.

Nama says 'Because I knew it as the only refuge..'

Nama says 'If I'd known, then..'

Nama says 'That there were other places..'

Nama gestures towards Makeetha.

Nama says 'Whitebridge, for instance.'

Nama says 'Would I have travelled so far to the White Tower?'

Nama says 'Of course, back then,'

Nama says 'I had no idea what I would go through as a Novice, and now as Accepted.'

Nama says 'Breaking you down, as the Wisdom says.'

Jiera says 'Yes, I envy the girls who have a gentle and kindly guided touching of Saidar the first time.'

Jiera nods in agreement.

Nama thinks really hard.

Jiera says 'There can be merit in either approach.'

Nama says 'I can't answer that.'

Nama says 'Looking back..'

Nama says 'I could say that one or the other seems preferable..'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Jiera says 'Well..'

Nama says 'The Wisdom asked me if I was here to earn the Shawl.'

A shaggy brown mare lays its ears flat against its neck.

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama says 'I don't think of my time here in that way.'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Nama says 'Though.. I know that others do.'

Jiera says 'In the Tower... we may learn more powerful and dangerous weaves than Wisdoms, I believe, and so the Aes Sedai may need to know we will... Obey...'

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Jiera frowns slightly.

Jiera says '...without question or hesitation.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'Do you really believe, Jiera, that more powerful and dangerous weaves are a benefit?'

Jiera looks suddenly unsure.

Makeetha says 'There are weaves more dangerous than what Aes Sedai will teach that can be found outside the Tower, child. And many who know them have nobody that they obey or answer to.'

Jiera hesitates and then says, 'Like any tool it depends on what use you use it for.'

Nama frowns.

Jiera says 'My apology then for my assumption, Wisdom.'

Nama nods.

Jiera says 'I...do know that all too well.'

Makeetha says 'As a Wisdom, I focus on healing ailments'

Makeetha says 'But I know of many other weaves, even if I don't choose to learn them.'

Jiera nods.

Makeetha says 'I also know that the healing power of weaves is not absolute. There are many things that the Power cannot cure.'

Jiera says 'Indeed.'

Jiera frowns.

Nama says 'What do you mean, Makeetha?'

Jiera says 'Well, this conversation could have changed much in my life had I had it before the fateful day Neladin Sedai inducted me, or soon after.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Jiera falls silent and awaits Makeetha's answer.

Makeetha says 'Well for instance, neither you or Sister Etain were able to help me tonight with the Power.'

Nama frowns.

Nama nods slowly.

Jiera says 'You needed assistance, Wisdom?'

Nama says 'I'm afraid I'm not very skilled yet with Saidar..'

Makeetha says 'And the power can't return a lost loved one, but herbs and attention can help soothe the loss.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama furrows her brow.

Jiera says 'My apology -- it is none of my business, but if you need help, please let me know.'

Makeetha says 'And the power can mend a broken arm, but does the person learn a lesson when it is so easily fixed?'

Makeetha frowns.

Makeetha says 'I'm...not sure, Jiera.'

Makeetha says 'It seems, I lost a bit of time.'

Nama says 'More than a bit, please, Wisdom..'

Jiera looks on curiously.

Makeetha says 'I seem to have lost several months...'

Jiera says 'Amnesia?'

Nama whispers to Jiera 'She has a tendency to..'

Nama says 'Um.'

Nama says 'What is that?'

Jiera says 'Sorry. I'm a Brown Apprentice and sometimes forget what words I'm using.'

Makeetha says 'And according to Nama and Etain, I was wandering around as if I was still in the Tower during my...ehr...episode.'

Jiera says 'It's memory loss.'

The fountain splashes merrily, light sparkling beautifully on the surface of the water.

Jiera says 'The kind that might occur from a hard bump on the head.'

Nama shivers uncomfortably.

Nama says 'Yes you were, and then you fainted.'

Jiera says 'Did anyone delve you to look for potential head injury?'

Makeetha says 'I have no aches, but my first memory since was of Sister Etain healing me.'

Jiera says 'Well if an Aes Sedai was aiding you, I doubt there is anything I could do.'

Jiera says 'But it is curious.'

Jiera says 'And if it went away on its own I fear it may come back.'

Nama says 'I fear the same..'

Nama frowns.

Paj has arrived from the west, riding a gray palfrey.
A Saldaean veteran has arrived from the west.

Paj sits down and rests.

Makeetha says 'Well...where were we before I got...distracted?'

Nama says 'I haven't a clue.'

Makeetha grins evilly.

Nama says 'Maybe we should talk about your..'

Jiera looks in the direction the men had gone with a slight smile on her lips.

Nama blinks her eyes innocently.

Nama says 'Forrester?'

Makeetha says 'Ah Jin.'

Nama coughs loudly.

Makeetha says 'A wild man that one'

Jin Al'Toreth, Master Falconer, Ranger is a level 48 Forrester human.
We are Rangers.
We walk in the dark places, no others will enter.
We do not break away from combat.
We stand on the bridge and no one may pass.
We do not retreat. Whatever the reason.
We live for the one, we die for the one.

Jiera starts to speak and stops.

Jiera says 'Right, the Forrester.'

Jiera says 'Wild how?'

Nama coughs loudly.

Makeetha says 'You know he's seanchan by birth, though he sailed here long before the Hailene.'

A black cat leaves south.

Makeetha says 'He had to escape from some that wished him dead.'

Jiera looks like she's about to spit on the ground and then she stops herself.

Makeetha says 'He had his own ship and a pair of dual scimitars.'

Makeetha says 'Every moment with that man was an adventure.'

Jiera looks in the distance and nods with a sad smile on her lips.

Nama smiles at Makeetha.

Nama says 'It sounds like you loved him.'

Jiera looks at Makeetha.

A black cat has arrived from the south.

Jiera nods slightly.

Nama says 'How did you meet, if I may ask?'

Makeetha says 'We sailed to Tremalking, the Isle of Mad Men, Jafar, even Shara far to the east.'

Nama says 'Oh, my..'

A black cat leaves west.

Makeetha says 'He got himself into a bit of trouble with a rabid man down in Haddon Mirk.'

The clouds disappear.

Makeetha says 'And I was down there searching for an item a Sedai had asked me for.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama smiles happily.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'I heard the sounds of fighting and rushed in and was able to turn the tide for him.'

Jiera walks off and says 'Excuse me a moment.'

Jiera leaves north.

Makeetha says 'After that we went to Tear and drank and ate and told stories.'

Nama glances in the direction Jiera walked off to.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Then when the night had nearly passed he offered me passage on his ship, to get back here.'

Nama says 'What was he fighting?'

Makeetha says 'There was a strange man down there with a pack of rabid wolves.'

Nama says 'I see.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'You were in Tear..'

Nama says 'As a..'

Nama says 'Novice? Accepted?'

Makeetha says 'I believe I was an Accepted back then.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Tear didn't like it but they wouldn't act on it either.'

Nama says 'You weren't afraid to enter Tear?'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'And so.. the ship..'

Makeetha says 'As I said before, I have a tendency to go where I wish.'

Nama says 'His ship..'

Nama grins evilly.

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'You have mentioned that..'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Jiera has arrived from the north.

Nama says 'Well, first, before you tell me about his ship - '

Nama says 'I'm curious.'

Nama says 'What was Tower policy, then, about..'

Nama says 'About.. well, you know..'

Jiera walks in looking composed, carrying a tray loaded with food and drink.

Nama smiles at Jiera.

The sky starts to get cloudy.

Jiera says 'I don't know your tastes, but hopefully this will do.'

Makeetha says 'Oh relationships have always been frowned on.'

Jiera gives a plate of kippered eel to Makeetha.

Jiera gives a cup of honeyed tea to Makeetha.

Jiera gives a strawberry cheesecake to Makeetha.

Jiera gives Nama a plate of roast lamb with apple jelly.

Jiera gives Nama a cup of honeyed tea.

Jiera gives Nama a tasty cake with raisins.

Makeetha says 'And based on the war I almost started I can see why.'

Nama eyes the strawberry cheesecake.

Makeetha thanks Jiera heartily.

Nama grins evilly.

Jiera says 'You can always trade.'

Jiera chuckles politely.

Nama says 'Thank you, Jiera!'

Nama nibbles a little bit of the cake.

Jiera says 'Of course.'

Makeetha gives you a strawberry cheesecake.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama gives a strawberry cheesecake to Makeetha.

Nama nibbles a little bit of the cake.

Nama says 'This is delicous.'

Nama smiles at Jiera.

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Jiera says 'I'm glad to hear it.'

Jiera says 'Well, you know how much practice we get preparing meals.'

Nama grins at Jiera.

Jiera says 'At least the Novices wash the dishes mostly now.'

Jiera says 'I'd rather cook.'

Jiera chuckles politely.

Nama says 'Now put that tray down and come sit with us you fool girl.'

Jiera tastes a little bit of a plate of roast potatoes and turnips.

Jiera nods, 'Yes, ma'am.'

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Jiera places the tray down near the fountain edge.

Jiera sits down on a bench.

Nama says 'So they've alwyas been frowned upon?'

Nama thinks really hard.

Jiera balances her plates on her lap with skill.

Nama says 'I've been told that..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Well, we needn't go into that.'

Jiera says 'Hmm, what's frowned upon?'

Makeetha says 'Relationships.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'For Tower initiates.'

Nama says 'I've been told that..'

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'certain..'

Jiera says 'Oh relationships are welcome. I mean, I have many girl friends in the Tower.'

Nama says '.. behaviors..'

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Nama chuckles politely.

Jiera says 'Some of course take it to pillow friends... I try not to judge.'

Makeetha nods at Jiera.

Nama gapes at Jiera.

Nama clamps her mouth shut and looks elsewhere.

Jiera says 'My apology for speaking so bluntly. I do not mean to offend.'

Makeetha says 'That was the sort of relationship we were speaking of.'

Nama shakes her head.

Jiera says 'I lived in Cairhien for a time...and well even that didn't change my nature.'

Nama says 'I.. um..'

Nama says 'Well, see.'

Jiera says 'Much to the Boars' chagrin.'

Makeetha chuckles politely.

Jiera says 'Anyway, I was teasing. I of course knew what you meant.'

Nama says 'I've been told that having that kind of relationship.. could lead to me being put out of the Tower.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Jiera shrugs.

Nama says 'It's rather frightening, actually.'

Jiera says 'We are to focus on our studies.'

Nama says 'Especially since...'

Nama frowns.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'since?'

Nama busies herself with the ripples of tea in her cup.

Nama says 'Hm? You were saying, about his ship, Wisdom?'

Jiera says 'I'm not even sure which is frightening? Women or men?'

Nama nibbles a little bit of the cake.

Makeetha says 'Women by far. Men are fools but they're easy to understand.'

Jiera chuckles politely.

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'You think so?'

Jiera says 'That depends on the man.'

Jiera stares into her cup.

Makeetha grins evilly.

Jiera sips from the cup.

Nama says 'I can hardly make heads or tails of any man.'

Makeetha says 'So it does.'

Makeetha says 'Has nobody ever shown interest in you, Nama?'

Jiera says 'I would say that men from Cairhien can be quite hard to understand.'

Nama says 'I don't generally much care to try, though, either.'

Makeetha looks at Nama.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'No, not me.'

Makeetha says 'I find that hard to believe. Many like a small wisp of a woman.'

Nama arches an eyebrow.

Jiera says 'I was older than you when I was inducted and had lived... much more I think.'

Nama says 'Do they?'

Nama shivers uncomfortably.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'No thank you.'

Jiera says 'Well it is better if you haven't experience that aspect of life -- less to miss with our restrictions.'

Wind-tousled copper hair fails to hide the line of burned flesh encircling
this woman's neck. A walking stick never far from her side, this woman's
tilted sapphire eyes shine with compassion, enthusiasm, and the spirit of
adventure.

Jiera is in excellent condition.

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama smiles to herself.

Nama nods in agreement.

Jiera tastes a little bit of a plate of roast potatoes and turnips.

Nama says 'As you say.'

Nama nibbles a little bit of the cake.

Makeetha says 'I couldn't give it up again. Not there's as many lining up as there once was.'

Nama grins at Makeetha.

Nama says 'What happened to Jin?'

Nama says 'He's not around any longer?'

Makeetha says 'I'm not sure to be honest.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'He kept sailing.'

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'Without you?'

Makeetha says 'One day I just never heard back from him.'

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

Nama frowns.

Nama comforts Makeetha.

Jiera says 'And for us, well I think most Aes Sedai are too busy for relationships as well. Except for perhaps the Greens. Some of them seem scandalous with their Warders.'

Nama peers closely at Jiera, trying to figure her out.

Makeetha says 'I was occupied with my studies.'

Nama nods at Makeetha.

Nama says 'Yes.. they do take a good deal of time..'

Makeetha says 'And my treatment.'

Jiera says 'As a Wisdom... I assume you'd have an extensive network of contacts...to get word to you should they see him?'

Nama says 'Your treatment?'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

A city lamplighter extinguishes a streetlamp.

Makeetha says 'The one regarding my childhood.'

Nama says 'You mean, by the Wisdoms?'

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'That took place when you were Accepted....'

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama says 'And you were shawled before..'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha shakes her head.

Makeetha says 'I wasn't an Accepted any longer by that point.'

Nama says 'Oh, I see.'

Jiera says 'Well I don't actually mean to be abrupt, but I should retire to my chambers and dreams.'

Nama smiles at Jiera.

Makeetha blinks her eyes innocently.

Makeetha peers closely at Jiera, trying to figure her out.

Jiera says 'It was wonderful meeting both of you.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'It was you, too.'

Makeetha says 'Likewise.'

Jiera says 'A great reward for me taking a break from reading endless books.'

Nama smiles happily.

Nama nods in agreement.

Jiera smiles happily.

Jiera says 'Have a good rest of your night.'

Makeetha says 'You as well.'

Nama says 'And you, enjoy those dreams.'

Makeetha says 'Sleep well and wake.'

Jiera says 'Oh, I can take your dishes down to the kitchen.'

Jiera starts gathering dishes and placing them onto the tray.

Makeetha thanks Jiera heartily.

Nama says 'Oh, just bundle them off to a Novice.'

Nama smiles at Jiera.

Jiera says 'Oh it's okay. I don't mind.'

Nama says 'We've done our time.'

Jiera smiles happily.

Nama nods in agreement.

Jiera says 'There is that.'

Jiera waves.

Nama waves.

Jiera clambers to her feet.

Jiera chuckles politely.

Jiera leaves north.

Nama smiles happily.

Nama says 'And you, Wisdom?'

Makeetha says 'I can stay a bit longer.'

Nama says 'As you say.'

Makeetha says 'Unless you're growing bored of an old woman's conversation.'

Makeetha grins evilly.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'Far from it.'

Makeetha says 'Now what were we discussing again?'

Makeetha ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'I have a lot to learn.'

Nama says 'I won't do so by shunning those with the most to teach me.'

Makeetha says 'Just remember there's much more learning that can't be found in books.'

Nama says 'Not that that's why I've been talking to you, of course..'

Makeetha says 'Even in a library like this one.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'You aren't the first to tell me..'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'Well, it's quite nice to be able to sit down and have a long conversation.'

Makeetha says 'I only mentioned it because Jiera mentioned endless hours spent in books.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Without all the bustle..'

Nama says 'I keep myself to the libary.. maybe too often.. because of that.'

Nama says 'As to what we were talking about..'

Nama says 'You were telling me a little of who you were..'

Nama says 'around the time you sailed with Jin.'

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'I didn't care to say so, earlier..'

Nama says 'In front of Jiera.'

Makeetha says 'Yes?'

Nama says 'But I don't quite understand all the fuss about men.'

Nama says 'You should talk about that a little, if you care to, when you tell me more of your adventures with the Forrester.'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Nama smiles at Makeetha.

Nama says 'Maybe there's just something I haven't understood about it all.'

Makeetha smirks.

Nama says 'About their.. attractiveness.'

A rugged traveller has arrived from the south, riding a black stallion.

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Makeetha says 'Hmmm...'

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Nama smiles at Makeetha.

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Makeetha thinks hard.

Nama says 'Tell me..'

Nama says 'you haven't only had one man in your life, surely?'

Nama says 'There were others besides Jin?'

Makeetha shakes her head.

Makeetha says 'There was a Defender, Static. I had a son with him.'

Nama says 'Oh, my..'

Nama says 'The same Defender who courted you earlier?'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Much later in our years though.'

Makeetha says 'He'd grown up a lot.'

A rugged traveller leaves east riding a black stallion.

Nama nibbles a little bit of the cake.

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Makeetha says 'He actually was leaving the Defenders around that time.'

Nama says 'Oh..'

Makeetha says 'I believe he went north and signed on with one of Cairhien's factions.'

Makeetha says 'And was also a member of a movement called an Shen.'

Nama scrunches up her lips thoughtfully.

The gleeman has arrived from the east.

Makeetha says 'By then I'd already begun to settle down, and try to be responsible as a Wisdom'

Nama nods slowly.

Nama nibbles a little bit of the food.

Nama nibbles a little bit of the food.

Makeetha says 'We saw each other fairly regularly, I was acting as a Wisdom for the village of Maerone acrossed the river from Aringill'

Nama smiles happily.

Makeetha says 'Things went well until later...'

Makeetha says 'Our son was...gifted.'

Nama says 'Oh..'

Nama looks crestfallen.

Nama says 'I'm sorry..'

Makeetha says 'We decided to keep it hidden, thinking we could help him between the experience we both had.'

Nama thinks really hard.

Makeetha says 'But neither of us understood the taint and what it does to one of them.'

Nama nods sadly.

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

Makeetha says 'He never hurt anyone but he did leave after a fight one night and we never saw him again.'

Nama says 'That is a real tragedy, Wisdom.'

Nama sighs.

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'You must've been heartbroken..'

Makeetha says 'Static and I were devastated and he soon lost the will to go on.'

Nama comforts Makeetha.

Makeetha thanks Nama heartily.

Makeetha says 'It's been a long time still since then.'

Nama nods.

Makeetha says 'But as I said the time blurs, so it doesn't always seem so long ago.'

A city lamplighter extinguishes a streetlamp.

Nama says 'You still think of them both often?'

Makeetha says 'Live as long as I have and you will see a lot of tragedy but also reason to celebrate.'

Makeetha nods at Nama.

Nama thinks really hard.

Makeetha says 'I think of many people I've known.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'As far as men's attraction.'

Makeetha says 'I suppose it depends on you.'

Makeetha says 'And what you are seeking in your life at the time.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'When I met Jin I needed the adventure he brought into my life'

The gleeman leaves east.

Makeetha says 'And going on those adventures inevitably drew us closer.'

Nama scrunches up her lips thoughtfully.

Nama says 'Yes.. they must have..'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'With Static, we were both older and it was his stability and caring that attracted me to him.'

Nama says 'I see..'

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Makeetha says 'We were both looking to family. As people do as they reach a certain age.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'And now?'

Makeetha says 'Since then, I can't really say that I've truly loved another. But I did adopt a Wisdom and her family as my own.'

Nama frowns.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'They were quite the interesting couple.'

Makeetha says 'Ceia and Daneidor. She was Seanchan and he was Aiel.'

Nama grins evilly.

Nama says 'Oh, my.'

Nama says 'That is quite strange..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'I've never met either..'

Makeetha says 'He was over here, I forget why, but he ended up befriending the Wisdoms and spending a great deal of time helping them with whatever they needed.'

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'She was a Seanchan that until she suffered a blow to the head and had forgotten her past.'

Nama says 'Oh, I see..'

Makeetha says 'And had been taken in by the Wisdoms and learned the craft.'

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Nama nods in agreement.

It tastes like hot, bitter tea.

Makeetha says 'They had a beautiful daughter, Eiolwyn. Who also joined the Wisdoms later.'

Nama smiles happily.

Makeetha says 'Daneidor eventually longed for some more purpose and ventured north into the Great Forest where he befriended and eventually joined the Forresters'

Nama says 'Oh, I see..'

Nama says 'That's sad..'

Nama eats the cake.

Makeetha shakes her head.

Makeetha says 'As a Forrester it kept him close enough to spend a great deal of time with his family.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'As well as the significant amount of freedom they offered their members.'

Nama says 'But he left his wife and child..'

Nama says 'Oh, I misunderstood.'

Makeetha shakes her head.

Makeetha says 'the child was grown and acting as a Wisdom on her own by then.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Although he did later journey to Seandar, as there was a group known as the Seekers hunting his wife.'

Makeetha says 'He...convinced them to stop, but it cost him an eye.'

Nama says 'Oh, Light..'

Nama says 'How awful.'

Makeetha says 'The two of them are still together, though I know not where, I think last I heard they journeyed back into the Waste together.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Do you expect they'll ever return?'

The fountain splashes merrily, light sparkling beautifully on the surface of the water.

Makeetha says 'I'm not sure.'

Makeetha says 'I like to think they found peace there.'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'I hope so.'

Nama says 'That reminds me, actually.'

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama says 'I came across a man, near the waste.'

Nama says 'Well, I should say..'

Nama says 'My companion did.'

Nama says 'I'm not allowed into those parts.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Tower restrictions..'

Nama says 'I suppose you disagree with them..'

Nama eyes Makeetha.

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'I understand them, but it's like an old saying I learned once.'

Makeetha says 'There are two ways to raise a child. The gardner or the sculptor. The Tower to me is the sculptor, they force the child into the shape they think they should be, whereas the gardner nurtures the child and helps it grow into it's own design.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'I don't know enough about any of that.'

Makeetha says 'The Tower's rules work for what they intend you to become, but they discourage you from discovering what you already are.'

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Nama thinks really hard.

An old woman has arrived from the east.

Nama says 'I don't know..'

Nama says 'There are several Ajahs, as you know..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Each with its own function..'

Makeetha says 'And what Ajah to you hope to become one day?'

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama says 'It's not clear to me yet.. I do spend a great deal of time researching in the library..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'And let's say you join the Brown successfully.'

Makeetha says 'What would you do for them?'

Makeetha says 'Presumably, you'd take up a study of some particular subject.'

Makeetha says 'Is there a particular subject that interests you?'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'I don't really know, Wisdom.'

Nama says 'I haven't gotten that far in my training yet.'

Nama says 'I may end up in another Ajah altogether..'

Nama says 'The Wheel weaves as it wills, as the Aes Sedai like to say..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'But for the sake of example, you've made it into the Brown.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

An old woman leaves east.

Makeetha says 'You're studying your topic for likely years. When one day you stumble upon a prophecy that you feel is about to occur in a book you were reading.'

Makeetha says 'You want to investigate it further, but that's no longer the work of the Brown. That's usually more a cause that a Blue would take up.'

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'So Mother gives the task to another.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'Why shouldn't the Brown Ajah collaborate with the Blue?'

A city lamplighter extinguishes a streetlamp.

Makeetha says 'You don't have the option to go, nor the option to change to be a Blue even though your desires have changed.'

Makeetha says 'It's not a problem of collaboration.'

Nama nods in agreement.

An old woman has arrived from the east.

Makeetha says 'It's a problem of your life and desires.'

Nama says 'I see the dilemma you're presenting me with.'

Makeetha says 'A person's desire is not static, it doesn't stay the same throughout one's life.'

Nama nods in agreement.

The mysterious lady has arrived from the west.

Nama thinks really hard.

Makeetha says 'But in the Tower, you are expected to give up your desire to better assist their goals.'

The mysterious lady leaves east.

Makeetha says 'It's not a bad thing, as I said the Tower is a good place, and does good work.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'But at the cost of the individuals within it.'

Nama says 'I don't know, Wisdom..'

Nama says 'I believe that there are many ways in which I could involve myself in that situation, if it did arise.'

Nama says 'As a Brown, that is, to follow your example.'

Nama says 'For instance, by communicating with Blue Sisters, or one Sister, I could provide them with whatever findings I made,'

Nama says 'about the prophecy.'

Nama says 'It would then be their task as Blues to use that information.'

Nama says 'I'm not a Sedai, but from what little I do know.. the Tower.. Mother.. is not so restrictive as to prevent certain Aes Sedai from deviating from the typical Ajah activities..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

An old woman leaves west.

Makeetha says 'But shouldn't you be able to see it through? After all, who would be more knowledgeable about the events of the prophecy than the person who had been studying it.'

Makeetha says 'Each person that reads a prophecy adds an interpretation to it that is their own.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'With the re-discovery of Travel, Wisdom, I don't think it should be very difficult at all for a Brown to have a direct hand in it.'

Nama says 'Even if I am not always there, in the midst of the action..'

Nama says 'That doesn't mean I can't see it through.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Perhaps it has grown more... lenient then when I was a member. Much time has passed after all.'

Makeetha says 'At the time, each Ajah was expected to only fulfill their function within the Tower.'

The fountain splashes merrily, light sparkling beautifully on the surface of the water.

Nama nods, listening.

Makeetha says 'If that has changed then I'm glad.'

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'Though I still would argue the necessity of some of the traditions that you girls get put through.'

Nama says 'I'd be very interested to talk with Alayla Sedai about this, actually..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Makeetha says 'I encourage you to, but much like an Aes Sedai, choose your words carefully as not to upset them.'

Nama smiles happily.

Nama nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'Whereas I have learned that there is less reason to not say what you truly mean and feel, but then I'm just a little old Wisdom student.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'I've learned that choosing my words is more and more necessary, the more responsibility I take on.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'The situation you described..'

Nama thinks really hard.

Nama says 'I'm not nearly old enough to know about this..'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Nama says 'But yes..'

Nama says 'As an Accepted..'

Nama says 'There are certain things I simply can't say,'

Nama says 'even if I may think them.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'It'd be.. freeing.. if that weren't the case.'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Nama shrugs.

Nama says 'But there are always restrictions with life, I guess..'

Nama says 'I've never been completely able to do what I wanted.'

Nama says 'And maybe that's the answer to your problem.'

Nama says 'Even if I am being made into..'

Nama says 'a sculpture.'

Nama says 'As you say.'

Nama says 'The ability to express and fulfil my desires within the confines of whatever Ajah I become a Sister of.'

Nama says 'If I do become one...'

Nama says 'Maybe that is a good thing for me to learn.'

Nama says 'Maybe I oughtn't grow freely.'

Nama shakes her head.

Nama says 'I don't know.'

Makeetha says 'As I said before, you have a much stronger spirit then what you show others initially. I hope one day you let it show through boldly whatever the Wheel should weave for you.'

Makeetha smiles happily.

Nama smiles at Makeetha.

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama says 'Thank you, Wisdom. You're too kind.'

Nama frowns.

Nama says 'I think I have to leave, Wisdom.'

Nama says 'As much as I would love to go on sitting here with you for a good while longer..'

Makeetha says 'I should be retiring as well, I truly am quite exhausted by this day's events.'

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama smiles at Makeetha.

Nama says 'I'm sure we'll see each other very soon.'

Nama says 'Light willing.'

Nama smiles happily.

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Nama says 'And please, take care of yourself.'

Nama says 'If you have any more of those episodes, let me know.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'I will likely seek out my sisters for some help.'

Makeetha says 'See if any of them have any ideas.'

Nama says 'Even if there's nothing I can do..'

Nama says 'I'd like to know how you are keeping.'

Makeetha nods in agreement.

Makeetha says 'I will make an effort to keep in touch.'

Nama smiles happily.

Nama nods in agreement.

Nama stands up.

Makeetha clambers to her feet.

Makeetha hugs Nama.

Nama says 'Would you mind a hug?'

Nama smiles happily.

Nama hugs her.

Nama waves.

Makeetha says 'Good luck, child. Take care.'

Nama says 'Thank you, Wisdom.'

Makeetha leaves south.

Ceia, Daneidor Makeetha. Old names, older memories. I did not expect to start crying reading this, but there it is. May you rest in the light Ceia, forever.
