1V1 Blight

Gonna post some logs as it was a suggestion to get better at PK. I was playing my DS abs, basher and was Blight. I fount Lamont Gap. I realized right away that I couldn't touch him without mob support and/or being zerk, so I fell back to blight to use trees. In the end when we were both beat I figured my only chance was to zerk on him and I doubted he'd hit me at mobs when he was beat, so I hit him and zerked....spoiler, ended up losing, but any suggestions on what I could have done better would be appreciated. Cheers.

As far as the pk went, you honestly didn't do badly at all. Remember to let mobs buff as often as possible when you're playing abs and getting towards lower hp. By that I mean don't be afraid to flee off of me and let the trees buff and come back in and reengage. This puts the trees in the buffer spot rather than you.

What else. If you had been a little more patient I was just about to head back up towards you. I was hitting trees to avoid being stabbed while I regained a bit of hp. I would have hit you at that large patty a couple times until I was a bit lower and seen what you did after that. Still a pretty good chance you could have gotten a bash off and killed me. However I would recommend looking around and trying to find a smaller grouping of mobs when in a 1 on 1 until you're a bit lower. Makes your opponent more likely to hit you. I think if your bashes hadn't dried up at the end you would have made me run away crying, I was just above crit.

Basically what I was taught, and what I've always tried to teach others about pk is control. You want every movement you make to be to your advantage. So you constantly want to be thinking about what you're doing next and how you can move your opponent into the next part of your plan. Of course I'll be the first to admit I'm pretty dung at north pk. I barely know the zones to be honest. But I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about.

All in all good job man. Keep it up. Just takes time to get pk down. And anytime man! That's the goal! I hope you kill your next human.

I applaud you, man.

But basically against stabber 1vs1, even HPS is not an even fight. The few rogues I fight, I don't even consider zerking unless they are a HP rung below me (me beat they crit, or me batt they beat). Just the way the abser crumblees.

Right off if you are an abser and fighting a stabber, you NEED another PC or mob to break that defense whether or not you plan on bashing. Doesn't matter if they are in dodge or combo. A club, axe, or abs sword is going to have mediocre OB against whatever that stabber is playing. And their damage + attack damage is more than comparable to your 2h weapon damage becuase you won't be getting every hit landed like he will. The term 'tickled to death' comes to mind.

Nice work getting him as low as you did before dying.

Something to keep in mind is that you went from Scratched - Wounded before rolling any bashes on him. Since he's in combo rather than dodge, you should be able to land a decent number of brave bashes with a mallet. Like Paj says, your low OB might mean some of those bashed hits are still parried, but you won't be breaking his parry unbashed and solo, so you might as well roll bashes or move to mobs.

Your abs against the most powerful set up on this game, short blades don't have a down side to speak of, especially the clear curved, insane damage, ob, attack, defense, availability etc.. You had no chance.

My advice:
Exp to level 51 to get some more hps and pracs.
Then go combo, you have 16 dex.
If you insist on staying abs the only worthwhile weapon is a WSL. The high OB and you being berserk will break combo defense quite frequently.

Yea, what Davor said. Besides, 408 hps at 30? You most likely have 420+ hps at 51. You will have more pracs too. Mallet is good for bashing dodge imo, but not much else. WSL is def the way to go for dmg/ob while in abs.

I have a pretty good feeling that your mallet wasn't warded.

Maybe Lamont just keeps his gear great shape, but against combo the majority of abs weapon hits should ring up as hard.

As an aside since the WSL was brought up - I feel like I can tell an unwarded weapon within a few rounds of combat. I PKed for an hour with a WSL once and was shocked to learn when I got in that it wasn't warded (granted I have postures). Could have been hitting even harder the whole time.

Love Lamont's comment - have a plan for how you think something will go. Figure out the amount of give and take you are willing to deal with.

The unfortunate truth is that an abser often needs a hitpoint advantage to finish a fight. Combo hitflee tactics can be very effective - you're trading rounds of damage to try and bash and they either aren't landing or are 1-rounding with the opponent autofleeing away.

And yeah, get 51 dude. Darkside has amazing abs exp. Its the only salve to the horrible wound that is being an abser surrounded by a bunch of pab rogues who are going to steal all the scalps.

Nice job, just a few pointers:

Make an alias for kill h.human. It costs one move to use, but it will hit a stabber who is hidden every single time, provided you have 86% notice. So you can pepper that into your spamming, especially if you know there is a stabber around. Also, no need to turn notice on/off it will stay on all day once you turn it on --- the only exception being if you rest or sleep. Then you need to turn it back on.

As far as using berserk goes --- it is best not to use it early in a fight. The attack is tempting, but if there had been another human nearby and Lamont saw that you were zerk, he could have called that person in and they would have just killed you because you can't flee. The best time to use zerk attack is when you have an advantage and press it even further. Many people have died bashed at crit because of the extra zerk attacks they did not account for happening. So be careful with zerk, you become extremely vulnerable because you can't flee.

Other than that, nice job. It takes time to figure out the power of mobs, and when to go to a patty and when to stand and bash 1v1, but you will figure that out. As for using mallets: I mastered pretty much exclusively with mallets. This is because you can depend on their bashing abilities, which is more often the decider of who wins a fight that having high ob or damage. I haven't used them since I mastered because masters tend to bash better, but they are a great dependable weapon. Of course, switch it up for fun whenever you want WSL is real good, enormous battleaxe and bronze axe are also good.
