Removal of Roleplay Ranks/ special flagged rpqps.

Post by Elysia » Mon Mar 03, 2025 2:40 pm

Upon receiving feedback in the latest Round Table that people found the rpqps for Ajahs a reason not to play, Staff decided to evaluate them.

The rpqps were intended to be a path forward for roleplayers and to reward quality roleplay. Instead, we have seen people grinding their way through repetitive, mediocre interactions, almost exclusively behind literal locked doors. It has done little to nothing to encourage random interactions in the wild and the top end roleplayers are humble and don't like displaying their interactions to the world. Given that they faile to achieve their goal, the immortal workload evaluation entries and additional feedback that people found them an active hindrance, we have decided on the following:
  • Roleplay Ranks and their associated perks/ gains/ rewards are done away with.
  • Rpqps as a system are removed and associated mobol will be pulled. Players will retain their rpqps gained, nothing will change regarding the qps you have.
  • Any amazing roleplay logs posted on Roleplay Forum will still be awarded, but as regular qps. Not every post will yield qps, just the really good ones.
    • Anything currently posted will still be awarded based on previous metrics, but anything posted after this post's post time/date, will not.
  • Ajah rpqps requirements will be removed, but replaced with master quests that are more suitable to the Ajah. Think "teach x classes and do y research" for a Brown Ajah, or "kill x male channelers or dreadlords" for a Red Ajah.
At the same time, we do feel that roleplay is a core element of WoTmud and it is important to acknowledge and encourage being in character, as well as roleplay interactions. To this end, we will start giving perks that were formerly part of the Roleplay Ranks system to those who have consistently delivered high end roleplay, being in character across alts (if appliccable), especially those who have done so historically without any tangible recognition.
