Kitiara Sedai travels to Cairhien where she talks with Winged Guard lieutenant Azareth about the status of Mayene with the arrival of Bludfest and a potential future of cooperation.
Point of View: Kitiara
Participants: Kitiara, Azareth
Cairhien Intersection
A huge intersection cuts and divides the roads. To the east and west, road
and walkway lead deeper into the huge city, engulfing people and wagons
alike. To the south, the Sun Palace towers high into the sky, its immense
layers adding to its majesty. The cobblestone road is laid out with exact
angles to the roads that run to the east and west, and to the ramp that
lies to the south. A large banner with a map of the city has been posted.

Zone: Cairhien
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
A pale destrier stands here, adorned with the white flame of Tar Valon, being ridden by you.
A sailor is here.
A chicken wanders around here, pecking at the ground.
A warhorse is here, stamping his feet impatiently, being ridden by Azareth.
Azareth the Lieutenant is resting here, riding a warhorse.
The Cairhien town crier stands here, spreading the news.
Azareth says 'howdy'
Kitiara rides into the intersection and pulls her horse in front of Azareths, 'Greeting Lieutenant.'
Azareth stops resting, and clambers on his feet.
Azareth dusts off his pants.
Azareth bows deeply.
Azareth says 'Sedai. What a fine setting for a chance encounter.'
Kitiara says 'I have been hoping to run into a Winged Guard, fine indeed.'
Kitiara says 'Enjoying the crisp northern air?'
Azareth says 'I've been aiding the city in rooting out some plotting. I'll admit, it's a bit above my head.'
Kitiara says 'the game is often on full display here, more so than others... though of course everyone plays.'
Kitiara grins wryly.
Azareth says 'I had thought to lend some investigating experience and apparently that was my ante into the current
round.'
Kitiara nods along, 'More importantly perhaps... how is your nation fairing now that the Shadows fortress has
arrived?'
Azareth says 'I was just about to mention that.'
Azareth says 'I was wondering if your investigations into increased activity by the Shadow in the southlands has
led you toward the new camp.'
Azareth says 'There is a figure in there that appears to hold some influence.'
Azareth says 'Possibly just a formidable eyeless, possibly a lead.'
Kitiara says 'I was among many, including my Sisters, Gaidin and a few Accepted aided in striking a significant blow, '
slaying a prominent Dreadlord
Azareth says 'I was present. Although I did not strike as heavy a blow as my colleage, Garett, I did attempt
stealth.'
Azareth says 'These bones must creak louder than I realized.'
Kitiara curves her mouth in a slight frown, 'It is particularly frustrating that their foothold remains... after
such a fight as we put up.'
Kitiara smiles warmly at the mention of his creaking bones.
Azareth says 'Some young part of me had hoped for new foes.'
Kitiara says 'I do not remember seeing you, though I am unsurprised... many nations came together to support one another in '
that endeavor...
Azareth says 'Ah, I will accept the compliment toward my subtle arts.'
Kitiara grins, 'Of course... and I was busy channeling Ice, Fire and Lightning against the shadow...'
Kitiara grins at her silly jab, 'I do think there is room for conversation about nations supporting one another
continuing in light of the strongholds arrival.'
Azareth says 'I have to wonder if the various Accepted that have been seeking clues into the dreamspike mystery
have explored the camp. I would certainly lend any aid I could offer toward that end.'
Kitiara nods towards Azareth, 'I have not read the latest reports, but I do intend to strike into the stronghold
n I can gather a strong enough force. I will of course have you along when that time come.'
Azareth says 'Please send word. I look forward to the adventure.'
Azareth says 'Now, however, someone has just slipped me a note about my quarry.'
Azareth puts a letter of writ bearing the seal of House Saighan in a small purse.
Azareth says 'The game of mansions or whatever is so complicated'
Azareth says 'They hate it when I mess up the name.'
Azareth winks suggestively at Kitiara.
Kitiara says 'Perhaps talk to your fellows... about how well we ALL defended Mayene'
Kitiara says 'I would see a meeting between southern nations... a perhaps temporary arrangement... until the Shadow has been '
removed.
Azareth says 'We drink to our allies daily.'
Azareth says 'However, we still curse our enemies.'
Azareth says 'Immediate threats that overshadow the thousand years of aggression hold little sway once the threat
is neutralized.'
Azareth says 'Trust is earned, as is enmity.'
Kitiara says 'But the threat has not been neutralized... so perhaps an opportunity for trust to be earned. '
Kitiara says 'An olive branch was extended was it not... when you rode to the defense of Tear?'
Azareth says 'Not exactly.'
Azareth says 'A means to an end in the moment of need.'
Azareth says 'And a threat at our border that needed attention.'
Kitiara says 'I may argue that your moment of need is ongoing... '
Azareth says 'I would argue that our need does not include being shown how to cower within stone.'
Kitiara guides her pale horse around to the side of Azareths warhorse, 'Of course not... but perhaps a mutual pause
in hostilities... think about it.'
Azareth says 'I would attend a meeting out of respect for the ones arranging it, but I would not expect much of
it.'
Kitiara smiles broadly, 'Wonderful. That is all I ask.'
Azareth nods in agreement.
Azareth says 'The subject has my blood up. I must take my leave and use this motivation.'
Azareth bows deeply.
Kitiara reaches across the horses to lay her hand on Azareths arm, 'Walk in the Light.'
Azareth leaves north riding a warhorse.
A chicken leaves north.
