Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

Zone: White Tower Upper Floors
Door east: door
A chair made of red oak rests next to the table. [4]
A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.
Chloro says 'Annoura Summon Jerrica please.'
Annoura Larisen says 'I will send my scribe to summon her, Chloro.'
Someone knocks on the carveddoor from the other side.
Jerrica has arrived from the east.
Jerrica curtseys before you.
Jerrica says 'you have asked for me Aes Sedai Chloro?'
Chloro looks up from the stack of white folders on her desk and smiles warmly to the Novice. "Good Day Novice, I believe it is you who requested to be seen. I have a note here requesting more responsibility?"
Jerrica nods to herself, she must need reassurance.
Jerrica says 'it is my hope to advance Aes Sedai'
Chloro stands pulling the white leather-bound folder off the top moving to the great round table motioning for the novice to do so as well. "Have a seat child, I am Chloro Sedai of the Gray Ajah, and who might you be?"
Jerrica sits lightly down in a chair
Jerrica says 'my Name is Jerrica Lane'
Chloro gracefully sits in her high-backed chair, off handedly opening the folder before her looking at the single page within. "A pleasure to meet you, Jerrica. Which country do have to credit sending us another girl to teach?"
Jerrica says 'i come from Murandy originally but would not consider myself as from there.'
Jerrica rubs her leg nervously.
Chloro raises her left eyebrow slightly and motions with her right hand. "Elaborate on that for me please."
Jerrica says 'not a lot to tell in all honesty I led a simple life until before coming to the tower'
Jerrica says 'after i got sick and had to be healed my old life seems like a shadow of something from a book'
Jerrica says 'is the sickness what you’re interested in hearing about?'
Chloro looks at the girl over weighing and measuring her with cool Gray eyes, red hair spilling over her shoulder against her porcelain shoulder. "Child I often have to keep some from telling too much, you I think must speak more. You make speak freely during this meeting."
Jerrica says 'thank you.'
Jerrica says 'I lived on a small farm their chores and gardening and taking care of animals and such.'
Jerrica says 'then about 4 months after my 14th name day i came down with a fever.'
Jerrica says 'the fever would not break despite many herbal remedies.'
Jerrica says 'then a healer was called to our home.'
Chloro nods listening, feeling the cool evening breeze through the windows as she pulls important facts from the novice's background.
Jerrica says 'the healer was able to lessen the fervor but not break it.'
Jerrica says 'then after talking with my pa.'
Jerrica says, 'the healer told of her youth and a girl that was sick and had to be sent to Tar Valon to be head and that the girl actually had the power!'
Jerrica says 'so my pa sent me here and it turned out that it was the same thing.'
Jerrica says 'my name was added to the novice books and after a few years of studying here I am'
Jerrica looks a little awkward after telling her whole life in a min and a half
Chloro nods allowing a small wave of sympathy to grace her face before returning to Aes Sedai Calm." Yes it does often happen that way for those born with the spark. The common folk call its channeling sickness. I had intense head aches and chills. It will pass in time."
Jerrica says 'I already feel much better. '
Jerrica says 'there had been some unusual occurrences happening on my farm as well.'
Jerrica says 'wells going dry and tree leafing in the snow.'
Jerrica says 'small things but i realize what they were now.'
Chloro says 'I should certainly hope so with a few years under you, all of those could be manifestations of channeling, or they could have more common reasons. For now, let us focus on the present.'
Jerrica nods in agreement.
Chloro says 'In the few years you have been here, please tell me what is the most important lesson you have learned?'
Jerrica says 'if i had to pick just one from the many i have learned it would be.'
Jerrica says 'that knowledge and understanding are more important that raw strength and power.'
Chloro eye's glimmer for a moment at the answer. "Someone has been practicing for this, that is an answer very few would give. Explain your position, please."
Jerrica says 'and that is very refreshing to me as I’m not as strong as my peer group in the power its self.'
Jerrica says 'a spider web breaks as a horse walk thru it, but it still feeds the spider'
Jerrica says 'the way I feel is this'
Jerrica says 'being able to do task and chores and even the larger quest i have been given were better done when I had a more learned understanding of how to do them'
Chloro says 'Recite the three oaths novice.'
Jerrica says 'to speak no word that is not true.'
Jerrica says 'to make no weapon with which one man may kill another.'
Jerrica says 'not to use the One Power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn, or in the last defense of my life, the life of my Warder, or that of another Sister.'
Chloro ticks off each oath in her mind as she listens to Jerrica. "Then tell me child, which is the hardest to live by?"
Jerrica says 'the third one.'
Chloro says 'Why is that?'
Jerrica says 'I do not know how to make a weapon with the power and I have always been a very truthful person'
Jerrica says 'but when i see an injustice in the streets of Tar valon it’s hard to not want to use the power inappropriately. '
Chloro says 'We will revisit this question later; I find it changes as a Novice grows.'
Jerrica says 'I don’t leave the tower often but when i get sent out for something i have witnessed cut purses and thief’s at work'
Jerrica nods in agreement.
Chloro says 'Who is the current Amyrlin seat?'
Jerrica says 'Suian Sanche'
Chloro says 'What is the ultimate price of misusing one power?'
Jerrica says 'death '
Chloro arches both eyebrows in surprise. "Would you care to rethink that, Novice?"
Jerrica says 'I was think in terms of channeling into an object I have read that channelers have been killed do this'
Chloro closes the folder in front of her and looks to the novice matching her gaze, Gray eyes dominating. "The ultimate price for misuse of the one power child, is to be stilled. Cut off from Saidar but forever able to feel it."
Jerrica shivers
Jerrica says 'i guess i was thinking along a different line, i was leaning to improper as opposed to inappropriate.'
Chloro brushes a lock of red hair over her shoulder. "You have come seeking more responsibility child, and as Aes Sedai, I must judge if you are ready for it. It would be a grave error to put a Novice into a role they are not ready for. At this time, I am not saying no, but like an iron rod before it becomes a sword, you need more tempering child."
Jerrica nods in agreement.
Jerrica says 'I understand Aes Sedai'
Chloro says 'I am not finished yet child.'
Chloro pulls a slip of paper from a sheath of them on the table and dips a silver quill pen into an open ink well. With grace she writes in a slightly flowery script before sliding the note to the novice." When times become tough, I want you to look to this as a reminder of what is to come. No Aes Sedai as made in one day, no Accepted, tempered overnight, and no novice learned in a week.
Chloro says 'In one week’s time we will convene again, and we will see if you are able to pass my standards in what I expect from a wearied novice. Study hard, meet with every Aes Sedai you can. We cannot judge you ready if we cannot see you.'
Jerrica says 'yes aes sedai I will.'
Chloro says 'Then for now you are dismissed back to your studies. Oh, and Novice, I will be watching....'
Jerrica stands up from her chair
Jerrica curtseys before you.
Jerrica says 'by your leave Aes Sedai'
Jerrica opens the carveddoor.
Jerrica leaves east. >>
