Accepted Verne teaches the Rosebud Technique

Summary: Verne teaches Novice Alitherin a technique to help access the One Power on the spot
Note: Verne and Alitherin both already awarded quest points

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
Alitherin Asher, the Fledgling Novice is standing here.

Verne curtsies to the audience.



Chloro gestures at the doors with her hand.



The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.



Alitherin says 'Sheriam Sedai and Laras have kept me quite busy.'



Alitherin curtseys before Verne.



Chloro takes her seat in a high backed chair next a Illian carpet. "Ah yes, Verne,
thank you for coming swiftly."



Alitherin smiles at Verne.


Verne says 'of course, Chloro Sedai, one does NOT keep an Aes Sedai waiting after all'



Chloro says 'You learn very quickly indeed. Our new novice Alitherin has not yet gone
through the rosebud technique. '



Chloro motions to the soft carpet." Please guide her through it, I will be here
observing you both."


Sarinda narrates 'ghast TV'


Alitherin says 'I think I heard... Elmitsu? speak of it.'


Verne says 'ah, yes, the rosebud technique'

Verne fumbles through her memory for the exact technique



Verne says 'the first step is to relax your mind, a frantic mind cannot come close to
the source'


Sarinda narrates 'need help'


Penzei narrates 'where >'


Lexiane narrates 'Where Sarinda Sedai?'


Sarinda narrates 'e TV'


Chloro looks quizzically to the accepted. "Perhaps you both should sit first."


Alitherin sits on the floor cross-legged


Alitherin sits down.

Verne hesitates, "it sounds like there is an aes sedai in trouble; should we continue
the lesson?"



Chloro says 'I was not aware (narr off)'



Chloro says 'Accepted to battle'


Verne says 'Sarinda Sedai asked for help E TV, but it looks like penzei was close and
helping'


Verne nods in agreement.


Verne says 'i will make sure shes ok'


Verne curtsies to the audience.



Chloro says 'Novice You are to stay within the tower grounds is that clear?'



Chloro gestures with her hand.
Lexiane narrates 'Is Sarinda Sedai ok?'


The door smoothly swings open.


Sarinda narrates 'yes'


Verne says 'oh'


Chloro stands Swiftly and shoos the novice towards the door


Verne says 'it looks like she is fine now'

Verne says 'sorry for the alarm'



Alitherin says 'When Vannor showed up, she sent me straight to Coulin'


Alitherin smiles happily.



Verne smooths the worries from her face in the imitation of Aes Sedai calm as she
gently takes a seat to continue on with the lesson.

Chloro says 'Well then, Verne should anything arise you may leave immediatly.'


Chloro says 'Please wait here'


Chloro leaves east. >>



Alitherin smiles at Verne.


Verne smiles happily.


Alitherin looks at Verne.


Alitherin stops using a silver-banded war mallet.


Alitherin wields a silver-banded war mallet in a two-handed grip.




Verne says 'step one: remove all worry and thought as possible distractions'


Verne mutters even if you hear someone calling for help.....




Alitherin strokes her chin thoughtfully.


Alitherin attempts to clear her mind.


Alitherin concentrates hard.

Verne says 'you will need to be calm and not distracted if you are to be able to access
the source to help'


Verne says 'unattached to worries, let them drift away'


Alitherin breathes in and out slowly.


Verne says 'your mind must be as still as an unruffled pond'


Verne says 'focus on the center of your being, just behind your navel'


Chloro has arrived from the east.



Chloro gestures at the doors with her hand.


Alitherin wrinkles her brow, then relaxes.


The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.


Verne says 'as you focus on that point, breath in and out steadily'


Verne says 'do not pay heed to your surroundings, not to the heat or to the cold, just
to the center of your being'


Chloro brushes some northern dust off her skirts and looks to the girls."Continue."
She moves back to her chair intent on the scene.


Verne says 'nothing else exits'


Verne says 'as you reach your center, imagine there is a rose bud floating in a pond in
front of you'



Alitherin whispers rose bud... rose bud...


Alitherin says 'I think I see it...'

Verne says 'reach out to it, not with your hand, but with the core of your being, not to
grasp it but in gentle recognition'


Chloro nods looking between the girls as she picks up her knitting.

Verne says 'become one with the rose and let it come to you, when IT is ready'


Alitherin starts to reach out with her hand but pulls it back.




Alitherin continues slow breathing.

Verne says 'show it your true self, the core of your being, and make yourself known to
it'


Verne says 'when it is ready, the petals will unfold, on their own time, accept its pace
and try to become one with it'


Alitherin nods in agreement.





Alitherin sits still as she reaches out with her mind.

Verne says 'do not rush the process, do not take what what is there, that is not Saidar'




Verne says 'accept what comes, and embrace what is there, in its own time'

Verne settles into a quiet peace, letting you discover what is there for you.


Alitherin appears to be completely calm.



Chloro rhythmically clicks her needles as she knits one and pearls two, her eyes
every intent on the girls.


Alitherin reaches out toward the flower again.


You sense Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Verne smiles wholeheartedly, but quietly so as not to break the moment.





Alitherin smiles, opens her eyes, and the glow dissipates.


Alitherin snaps her fingers.


Verne says 'congratulations!!'


Verne says 'that was very well done!'


Alitherin says 'I got excited as the technique worked.'


Alitherin says 'Lost it there at the end'


Alitherin smiles happily.


Verne says 'it is a tricky balance'



Alitherin says 'A lot of times I tend to not think about it too much. This technique
seems like it can help give me a lot more sense of control.'


Chloro nods approvingly. "This is a good start. You are to practice this Alitherin
and next time we meet I will expect you to be able to complete it with better
control."


Alitherin says 'Yes, Aes Sedai.'




Chloro says 'I would like you to begin requesting tutoring sessions with the Tower
Accepted. All where once your shoes and have much to teach.'


Someone knocks on the carveddoor from the other side.


Chloro nods to Verne.


Chloro gestures with her hand.


The door smoothly swings open.


Sarinda has arrived from the east.


Verne curtsies to the audience.


Sarinda closes the carveddoor.



Alitherin says 'Of course. I have a lot to learn'


Alitherin smiles happily.


Alitherin clambers to her feet.


Alitherin curtseys gracefully.


Alitherin sits down and rests.


Sarinda touches her hand to her forehead, lips, and heart in greeting.


Chloro says 'Verne would you assist her again while Sarinda observes.'


Sarinda says 'If it pleases the Light, continue with your lesson. I did not mean to
intrude.'


Verne says 'of course, the same excercise?'



Chloro says 'You may choose another if you like.'


Chloro motions to the highbacked chair next to her for Sarinda.


Sarinda nods in agreement.


Sarinda sits down.


Chloro Looks to the girls sitting on the carpet wondering which technique Verne will
use.


Verne says 'i dont mind doing the same one again if its alright with Alitherin'


Alitherin nods at Verne.


Alitherin says 'That is okay with me'


Chloro smiles warmly looking to Sarinda


Verne says 'to begin, remove all worry and thought as possible distractions'


Chloro whispers something to Sarinda.


Verne says 'you will need to be calm and not distracted if you are to be able to access
the source'


Alitherin breathes in...

Alitherin appears to reach a calm a little sooner than earlier despite the critical
gaze of Sarinda.


Sarinda whispers something to Chloro.


Alitherin opens one eye that scans the room then closes it again, breathing slowly.



Verne says 'focus here, on the center of your being'

Verne places a hand on Alitherin, gesturing at the area just behind her navel


Chloro watches the girls her hands moving deftly as she continues knitting, a cut off
glove starting to form.




Verne says 'do not pay heed to your surroundings, not the heat or to the cold, or the
others in the room, just to the center of your being'




Chloro whispers something to Sarinda.


Verne says 'as you focus on that point, breath in and out steadily'


Verne says 'nothing else exists in this moment'

Verne says 'your breath, and your being'


Sarinda's ageless face is stoic.



Verne says 'until you reach the center of your being, then imagine a rose bud, floating
in a pond in front of you'


Alitherin concentrates on the rose bud and reaches out.


Verne says 'reach out to it, not with your hand, but with the core of your being, not to
grasp but in gentle recognition and companionship'


You sense Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Verne says 'share your being with it, and let it come to you, when IT is ready'


Verne smiles happily.


Alitherin keeps here eyes closed, letting the One Power flow.



Verne says 'it was ready much sooner this time, share in its sensations'


Alitherin opens her eyes slowly, keeping control.


Verne says 'become one with it, dont pull the power, but let it guide you'


Alitherin smiles happily.


Chloro maintains a warm face of Aes Sedai calm watching the Accepted more closely.




Verne pulls her attention away from the novice.

Sarinda presses her fingertips of her hands together and leans forward in her seat,
observing closely.

Verne says 'was something the matter Aes Sedai?'


Sarinda shakes her head.


Alitherin gradually lets the glow fade.




Alitherin says 'If there's nothing else I learned back home, it's that consistent
practice is important.'


Sarinda says softly, 'If it pleases the Light, when a girl first learns to touch the
Source, it is important to watch for signs of difficulty letting go.'
Chloro motions with her hand for the Accepted to continue.


Alitherin says 'I will try to meditate on this every morning when I wake.'



Verne says 'yes it can be quite an addictive sensation, be careful Alitherin that you do
not overuse it'


Alitherin nods at Verne.


Verne says 'it is quite possible to pull more than your body can handle as a conduit,
and that can lead to burning yourself out so you can never touch the source again.'


Chloro clears her throat softly.



Verne cedes the floor back to Chloro Sedai



Alitherin looks toward Chloro Sedai.



Sarinda says 'The lure of the Source is strong. Even those fully trained at times
feel a desire to hold onto it longer than necessary. This is why we Sisters much
watch closely to ensure that novices are skilled not just in touching the Source, but
letting go as well.'


Chloro says 'During your time as a novice, you are to ask permission to channel in
the presence of an Accepted or Aes Sedai. We are here to teach you dear, and prevent
you from harming yourself with Saidar.'


Alitherin says 'I understand. The hierarchy of command is important. I can serve my
station.'


Chloro says 'Now, Alitherin please do tell us how did you find this technique to be?
Helpful or a hinderer?'


Alitherin says 'This technique is helpful to me specifically, because it allows me to
keep in control and touch the source when I need it.'


Alitherin says 'When I reach out without thought, it's not always there.'


Alitherin says 'I find a lot of comfort in routine.'

Verne smiles happily.


Chloro says 'In time you will learn to embrace saidar within a mere moment. I look
forward to seeing you progress in your studies of the one power.'


Alitherin smiles happily.

A silver-haired Aes Sedai says 'As you command, Chloro Sedai. I will now award LIVE
QPS.'


A silver-haired Aes Sedai says 'It is done.'


Chloro nods to her aged sister.




Alitherin says 'Thank you, Aes Sedai.'



Chloro says 'Alitherin I fear we have kept you to long, the Librarians and Mistress
Laras will be looking for you. You are dismissed. Verne stay a moment please.'


Alitherin stops resting, and clambers on her feet.


Alitherin makes a hasty curtsey.
