PK Behavior
Re: PK Behavior
Anytime friend Hasp! Was pretty fun until I was BESIEGED BY THE MERCILESS CHANNELER SNIPERS!
Re: PK Behavior
Lykan is probably right, along with others, that the attitude has changed over the years and that people take fewer risks.
I don't think that's strange that you have that opinion after some of you having played 15+ years straight and have several bonused chars. We get it, you're bored. You want the high, but it's just not as fun anymore. To me, one issue was always that characters never perma-die or are retired. Some chars are so old and have been played so much that they're rank 8. Puny might be halfway to rank 9. I'm pretty sure those ranks were just jokes to the original staff. This accumulates a lot more damage that is brought to the table and we actually have days when there are more fades than trollocs on ds. I don't think that was intended back in the day.
Simply put, the game doesn't appear to be designed after indefinite amounts of masters/remorts. With masters come bonuses and highly bonused pk is just not as fun to play for an unbonused/lesser skilled player. Some of you would probably disagree, probably because you're pretty awesome at the game, but to most players below "skill cap" this is more or less true. Am I saying you didn't earn your bonuses? No, most certainly not. But the attitude of being careful (or a firetrucking well-proportioned felid, to use wotmud lingo), fleeing early and not taking absurd risks stems from players' experiences with certain names, what damage potential they have and quite frankly, how hard it is to re-eq. LS is pretty bad when it comes to taking care of others compared to DS and so more casual, lesser skilled players, are more careful. Everyone knows this. It's not strange in any way even though it frustrates some of you. As an aside, that's probably also why people react so strongly to "creative use of game mechanics" when it comes to eq.
The best pk for me is when trolls face off against humans with as few masters and innately powerful chars (channies) as possible. You know you're not going to get hammered in three rounds and that the odds are roughly even. The groupfight is key and then comes the chase and regroup. At this point, I don't care if there are rogues around because none of them are masters and so I'll live through a stab. I can take that risk. I enjoy that risk.
I've read threads in the past where super skilled players go "Well why didn't you chase me past this or that choke?!? Take a risk dude if you want good pk". That's all well and good if you've done that once or twice, but chasing a skilled and bonused player, who is ranger sneaking away in tactical retreat fashion while he/she coordinates the ol' bait and switch gets really old after a while. So you look at the time, talk to your wife and rent/afk instead of spending 2 more hours trying to reeq while the other guy got exactly what he wanted. I'm pretty content with not getting that potential kill as long as I don't have to spend those hours the next time I log on. If that bothers you, I'm not sorry.

Re: PK Behavior
I just don't get it with you Lykan. I don't know what I've done to deserve constant criticism from you, once again for things that have happened far in the past. For someone who has many influential characters as yourself, I would think you would know how to give feedback in a way that is constructive and that does not demean players. I have watched you respond with quite some passion in your words; for someone in your place, learn some maturity and tact. Also, +1 to the afk/ld killing practices of Alaina :p Yes, you can whine we hold grudges, but when people make habits of killing people afk/ld repeatedly over years, yes we remember and hold it against them.
You are part of the problem, clearly.
Re: PK Behavior
Now we just need all this hostility to transform and move itself to say... gap! Pew pew
Re: PK Behavior
I would recommend playing abs in this case - at least whenever you PK - where it doesn't take two hours to re-eq and you don't have to worry about dying as much, if this is what stops you from chasing a low opponent to a zone that favors him/her more to even out the playing field - because if the worry is always I don't want to take a risk if it means there is a slight chance I die and have to re-eq, then soon no one will ever pk below battered - so again just prac axes and kill the FD road smob then go out and have fun and store the pretty trinkets until you feel comfortable to PK with them.Enok wrote:

Re: PK Behavior
Alaina, you killed someone afk just a few weeks ago.
I kind of left this thread to play out because everyone seemed to use it as some vent for their own PK frustrations. The creation of this thread was actually directed at me. Yes, Alaina, I know who I am.
Every single time I PK Alaina she will chill, blind and fear you immediately. Now, I'm pretty certain only a newbie is going to die as a result of status weaves at the start of a fight. As I in fact yelled at you (not in caps, just in game we bellow to our zone) you are boring to PK against and you are bad at PK. I think it would be a reasonable assumption that a Green Ajah does in fact know how to PK and acts the way she does out of choice. Do you really expect people to give you any enjoyable kind of fight though when they can't touch you and can only sit at a patty or avoid you the whole time because of your status weaves? Would you actually find it fun if someone just stood there unable to deal any kind of damage to you while you simply weaved them dead? I guess we've already answered that question though.
So, here is a list of circumstances where status weaves help you get kills:
1. Using them defensively when outnumbered or losing
2. When someone is not going to get away and will certainly die if you use them
Chilling/blinding a full hp, full mvs seanchan riding a fully equiped torm is only going to show you how much better his zone knowledge is than yours. I'm sure the 3-4 other light siders found absolutely no enjoyment having to chase me around in circles while I avoided you. If you didn't use such weaves in that particular situation I could have actually made a stand even outnumbered and provided some decent entertainment for us all. If you are going to PK like that I have no problem calling you out on it. Particularly when I later spent 99% of the fight sitting at a patty beat/crit while you were full hps and the one time you actually got batt you ran completely back inside to rest back to full hps. Yeah, you definitely wouldn't fight me stedding either even when I had 6 hps, in fact you were so not bothered by it that you didn't even chase past old bridge.
Now, there is certainly the possibility I am wrong here and it was mean of me to banter with you over yells, however I would not say I abused you or said any offensive/bad words. I checked the logs, don't worry. I actually felt bad when I read your post so I did actually take the time to re-evaluate my own actions. I also thought jeez, maybe she's just a really sensitive person and I should just be quiet because I don't want to distress her any more. I don't think I have really done anything terrible but it obviously upset her, perhaps she read into it too much and some other people might have said some other things so maybe it wasn't really even me that got her all emotional.
However, what is more astounding given your response here is that you are completely blind to your own behaviour and truly believe that everyone else is the problem, enough to even make a thread about it. I also don't believe that an average PKer like me who you also managed to kill could put such a dent in your ego. In this instance I actually had no intention of being mean to you I just really wanted you to see that you were making the PK boring for everyone (your team mates included).
If you want people to be nice to you then you need to take a look in the mirror and re-evaluate the way you also treat others. I would also like to invite you to come try SS and see how it feels on the other end of the stick.
PS. I'm sorry to the smob group and their fallen horses. I had been looking for PK for hours, found your tracks and thought "How will I get a kill out of this?" The reason your horses had to die was so you would all get split and couldn't gank me as easily and it worked. Randal also cheated death so I'm not sure what you are mad about there. It is possible to also take your horses with you rather than leave them outside to die. I'm sure DS would have killed your horses too.

Re: PK Behavior
I am by no means a good pker atm and by far ive seen my share of things going on that supports people being asses. To adress the two fights from the examples given. Ekko was leading us and benito was on the cusp to leave. Want us to hit you xroads where our mediocre 109 ob can hit your uber bashing? Then you call in spyder or however he came to balance us? In a no channel room? Interesting. I left cause annabelle and i both got bashed and we where useless in that room.
My attitude to pk atm is ill pk, ill die, i laugh regear and come back. Some people cannot see that this is just a game. Sure you loose some text, some points and then you get it back. Live and learn.
The fd fight with us gating out. Be honest krul? You guys where not planning to hit us inside the city at that point? Mariel sedai
I and omri made a tactical decision as we lost 2 people just before that fight. Then when i land near legion base i get hit by 3 ds suddenly. Logically my friend the group that hit us , the group that hit aylia later and the group that killed me near kreeza was higher numbers than us. Please ask zangief how long i survived hagg versus them chasing.
As i see it, its cool to call someone a coward ro something in these threads, but when you dont know the points leading up to specific fights, you make a judgement call on the one moment instead of the overall pk for the day. If you looked at struggle at that time it was somewhere in the region of 729 or something.
I get that atm we channelers are over balanced by the amount of fades that are running around at this time. Erulak, rig and sazi is almost in every fight i have been in the last few weeks. I dont let it affect me that i die. Sure i loose 3 qps per death and some of you know that i dont very fine person, gender being but a construct of society and moan.
What for? What do you gain by complaining about something that you can get back. Lets adress the numbers in fights and stop calling out people to chase you when you perfectly know that 280 hps is not going to survive your charing fear enducing fade or bashers at x roads.
Whining about the state of pk wont solve the problems. Lets rationally bring the problems to the front, present answers and solutions . Then go from there.
Either way ill keep chipping away at pk. I dont care how bad you all think i am. I laugh after every death. Nod zangief and group hitting me legion. Overall fun.

I should try abs. You're right. How come I never thought about this? Now I can take slight risks AND play below battered just like the big boys! You're awesome and helpful, Ragyn. Re: PK Behavior
You're welcome. The reason you gave for not chasing someone was the risk of dying and not wanting to because of the time it takes to re-eq, so abs would be good for you since it generally takes sub 30 minutes to put a 75%+ set together, depending on smob loads of ourse, sometimes you just get unlucky and they only load one piece of useful equipment. If you don't chase and take a risk, either get a kill or get killed, how will you get better and some day be able to break out your "good" equipment in PK?
Another point would be to smob up a couple sets so you have a guaranteed re-eq if you do happen to RIP and not get re-eqed. Maybe read some logs and try to evaluate what people did right and what they did wrong, and then incorporate it into your playstyle. I'm glad I opened your eyes, and hopefully you will contribute to a more fun PK experience now. Again you are welcome, Enok. Welcome to the big leagues.
I'd alsue argue the best way to get better is to be crit in every pk session and staying in the PK for as long as you can, you'll die more but you'll also be more aware of the mistakes you make, sine they are pretty crucial when you have 20-30 hps compared to having 150+ hps - be it proper dlines, correct spams, better judgement of who you pk against, are they faster or slower than you to chokes etc. At least that was how I learned, of course if you want to be on the lists that is obviously not for you.

Re: PK Behavior
Oh come now Cosmo, not everything is about you.
I have faith you know you aren't the only one I get slack from, and you're right, I was least affected by what you said in comparison to what I've been hearing.
If people still take offense to me using weaves that are part of my class and setup, sorry but that is how channelers work: we use weaves to win fights. I know, it's news to some.
If I've offended or hurt anyone at all in my PK interactions--and no COSMO chilling someone in PK is not insulting to their person--then I AM SORRY.
If I've made gameplay negative, abusive or down right vilifying to others, I am sorry.
I am very self aware, that is why I watch my language, I do not call people "the c word", yes Lykan that's you. I do not belittle others, nor do I call people any names that would be seen as derogatory. I'm calling out language and manners here people, not PK style.
If you want to discuss weaves and gameplay style, make your own thread for it.
