I'd like being able to check forums or whatnot 1n of malk when humans wont come out. The alternative is to go north every 5-10mins, and it's not always I'll feel like goong back south since.. well, humans wont come out. PK (atleast for me) would decrease by a mot if i didnt do it.

You do make a fair point, Nooro. And I appreciate you helping to initiate PK a great deal of the time. But you should know that taking that risk has consequences, and sometimes it proves to start PK, and sometimes it ends in your own death.

It's like so many other features in this game, it's a gamble...

Yeah, I guess that would give me less reason to get pissed off if i was killed AFK.. But i would still be upset i think. I suppose it has to do with expectations of other players as someone said earlier.

Here's the average day in a European timezone for PK.

Log on.

Narrate 'PK?'

Nobody responds.

Run Gap/Dusty (depending on side).

Set off scouts repeatedly on the way.

Wait 5 minutes.

Get bored.

Set off scouts again.

Wait another 5 minutes. Alt-tab onto forums or work emails (not quite AFK, but not paying attention).

Run to get mail/grab a drink/have a pee/do stuff (actual AFK).

Wait 5 minutes.

Finally someone turns up.

Total time finding PK? 20-30 minutes. Total time AFK(ish)? 5-10 minutes?

Alternative? Don't log on. Or if this thread is to be believed, log on but accept that a good deal of people think it's fair game to kill you AFK.

The above oft-repeated actions, combined with the lack of empathy/gamesmanship and general bad atmosphere advocated on this thread, is basically why I don't bother very much anymore.

I have to agree with Petra, whilst also being from the same timezone as the player. Log on see what is happening, go idle as nothing is happening and then something does. Often not many people around and those hesitate to help or so on. Some are afk and others are just lurking.

We all have done the above, afk lurk and so on.People being dicks on both sides on game and forums makes this place hard to enjoy sometimes.

I think people don't log on or play as often is because all the bitching and whining about every little thing, rather than that 1 time someone showed poor gamesmanship( most online games are not known for their stellar gamesmanship).That reasoning is a scapegoat. Just play the game. If you run out of reasons to play, I can guarantee it's more to do with something far beyond dying afk. Let's see:
- not having good people skills
- no friends to begin with
- no motivation to explore or learn new things
- no motivation to smob
- character is not challenging
- nothing to achieve on character of choice
- no interest on developing new relationships in game
- pk routine is dull and not trying different things
- questing is boring or not your thing

Etc.....the list can go on and on.

It is good to find something else to do away from WotMUD.

The lack of players makes is a very difficult place to fit.

The few players that are stuck here have pull in various clans and factions. Unfortunately the loud and angry are heard while others fade away.

The amount of time it takes to accomplish things like master on a different character is very difficult to do without average to poor skill players. Too many of the few here are elite/very skilled.

I’ve found it better to spend my time elsewhere but do miss the few people that are friends here.

Also, afk killing is bad. Just log out or run inside and lose link.

I would never assume to come back alive if I afkd in pk zones. Dorgo instilled this into me long ago. If you afk, you were dead. With how many people charge and stab why would you think you could even get away with it?

Am I condoning killing someone who is obviously afk? No. But I sure as hell wont give anyone the opportunity to try. And If I do, I will fully accept the death because that was the risk of going afk.

Would this even be a discussion if he got stabbed or charged?
