Can we take a step back and not overreact? While I'm certainly guilty of jumping on the odd bandwagon convo, this discord-analyzing, name-shaming without all the pieces just leads to bad blood. We make mistakes. I'm sure, somewhere along the line, Meren and Yeri will get over this. Very few players go out of their way to kill afk/ld people. Meren most certainly do not need to kill people THAT way to earn qps or an abs set.

No this is exactly the problem. And jestin you may be the best player on this game but this neutral pitching is messed up when you essentially say both are to blame.

This is not comparable to sexual assault. Yeri does not need treatment for PTSD. He's a very accomplished player on a text based game. It's not a crime to kill someone afk. It happens. Ask anyone. Yes, anyone. Well maybe Amberyn never did it, but still.

I would suggest we strive to improve on both fronts :)

This is a perfect solution. Jestin encourages taking the high road. Let's do that, and try to laugh instead of cultivating petty resentment.

None of this stuff that happens on wotmud is even remotely a big deal. I just think that Jestin is trying to reach out to Razhak and strike some middle ground, but he's effectively just enabling Razhak's (and presumably Meren's) attitude (which he is actually completely opposed to) with this wishy washy neutrality, instead of just sticking to his first post, which accurately called the spade a spade. He could have just said "Razhak and Meren - what you guys did and do is shitty and not good for the game atmosphere. But I understand that you feel it's a valid way to play and I love you anyway since we're all playing a small text game and we are a kind of a community and I care that everybody stays here and is happy. The rest of us who find it annoying will just continue to tolerate these things we find a waste of time on an otherwise fun and recreational space."

Thing is, this is a non-restricted PKilling mud.

Any mercy is depending on the goodwill of the person(s) involved.

And no, before the Jestin's and Kryyg's go post again, not even I go around AFK killing anything and everyone, but this naming and shaming by people who get AFK killed, is getting over the top. Perhaps Discord is to blame, because it makes communication to easy? I dont know.

Bottom line is, AFK killing, as unfair it might be if it happens to you, is not prohibited, and its not a -crime-

Does it suck if it happens to either of us? YES

Does it merit extensive naming and shaming, PTSD treatments, drowning a litter of kittens in a bag and/or ragequitting? NO

I mean freeze incin is not a crime, doorbush is not a crime, bash/charge when it was around was not a crime, blatant ld killing is not a crime, the list goes on. Question at the end of the day, would you enjoy it if it happened to you? Then go by that.

That can easily be taken as attack rounds or rounds of giant bashed (guess they are contagioned or chilled or something?)...

Just saying it isn't as blatantly obvious as it might seem.

Chill causes the attack round loss. Giant's might also be contagioned to let them be higher level for xp. Think that's how Pines are.

It's still more than odd enough to have wondered if the person was actually there. I've ran into people before, spiked them a few times, fled, poked them, then they ran all the way into Keep. What are you really losing erring on the side of caution? We've definitely blown the entire situation into something bigger than it actually was though.

I think Justin’s point about what do you (Meren and Razhak on 90% of his kills) actually gain here is what should stick.

The people who do this are generally douche bags (Hress) or just farming for some number (Razhak and Puny). Meren just dreaded and is just probably farming for qps, doesn’t really care if he gets good PK. These types of players rarely do care or give good PK.

They talk about it being a PK based game where no one is safe but essentially enjoy and advocate for playing it as if it’s single player where their target doesn’t do anything. They enjoy the PK most where they can get some qps, tps, and gear the safest way possible(killing AFK players) because of their inadequacies in real PK.

I think maybe 15 to 20 years ago there was a real problem with some players going AFK or faking LD but I don’t think so anymore. Razhak accused me of doing it all the time recently but he’s an idiot who was just angry he had to return my gear from a blatant AFK death.

When a game reaches about 100 players and PK is scarce, I don’t see the point in killing anyone AFK in any situation. If you’re honestly looking for PK, you don’t do it, if you’re just one of the farmers I mentioned above, you do it.

Also, people who don’t like naming and shaming is usually because it’s them being named and shamed. None of this arguing is going to change anything, but at least we can blackball Razhak and Meren from like minded groups who don’t agree with ruining a players fun because they went AFK or linkdead.
