EXP Area Rec
I am a lvl 30 warrior back from ~4+ year hiatus. I was a newbie when I left and forgot the little bit I learned before. Any suggestions on where to exp next? I really only know Caemlyn/4k/WB area with ancient tree and lithe s of 4k. Thanks!
Re: EXP Area Rec
Mayene Peninsula, Drowned lands, Deep in Haddon Mirk are three good zones to rotate through in the south east of the map.

Re: EXP Area Rec
spine is good if you have a partner, predators/lizards and such. Generally isn't raided much by DS anymore

Re: EXP Area Rec
As suggested
Spine - horned lizards, predators, grass, ancient trees, scorpions, aiel
Haddon Mirk - ancient trees, rabid wolves, horned lizards, two headed serpents
Drowned Lands - wet lizards, ancient trees
Mayene - ancient trees, black ants
Watch out for DS
Near your comfort zones
Outside north gate of WB - ancient trees, grass, rabid wolves
East of Lugard to Tear road - horned lizards, grass
South of Lugard to Illian and Illian peninsula - ancient trees, gators, grass, ants (if you have enough search)
Watch out for DS around WB, SS around Illian
Outside your comfort zones (if you feel like exploring or improving your zone knowledge)
Kandor / Twisted Forest - grass, ancient trees, blighted trees, predators, maulers
Outside south gate of Maradon - grass, ancient trees, brown snakes
Almoth - moss trees, blue pines, ancient trees
Watch out for DS in Kandor/Twisted Forest, SS in Almoth
Of course, exping after level 30 is always better with a partner.

WIki reads as a Level 50 mob. Can a level 30 really handle this on his own?

Re: EXP Area Rec
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I am headed to Mayene and the Spine for the next bit.

They can though having 1 more person would make the process more efficient.Damarshall wrote:http://wotmud.wikia.com/wiki/A_two-headed_serpentAlric wrote:As suggested

So essentially there's 2 sorts of efficient paths to exp. One is to allow a person who has quite a bit of defense to "buff" (withstand the attacks of) the targets. Think - an abser + a dodger and the dodger buffs a group of ancient trees while the abser doesn't get hit and deals damage. If no one is taking damage (the dodgers defense holds up) - the pair can continue exping for as long as they like and have things to kill. If the equipment the defensive character is using is top notch they can potentially engage larger groups of mobs or higher level mobs. Things that get killed well in situations like this include... (and we could go on forever) - ancient trees, twisted trees, shivering trees, blighted grass, mountain lions, plains lions, scorpions, mushrooms, cannibals, rhinos, worms, etc.
There's another path to good exp that has been the backbone of darkside exp forever. Very high level mobs ie. 50+ will have really high offensive bonus - they have a tendency to be able to break the defense of dodge characters regardless of the quality of the gear of the player. But!, people who wear armor don't have to worry about offensive bonus because they will always be hit - the armor absorbs the blow. So darkside armor characters for the history of the game have killed hideous abominations - which I believe are approximately level 70. They hit hard, they have high OB, they have lots of defense and hps, but they are worth great exp. Two absers with axes or long blades or clubs who know how to buff appropriately can take them on.
Anyway - long story short - a level 30 in armor with a warded weapon should be able to take down a level 50 snake. A snake actually can be "buffed" by a well equipped defensive character without taking too many hits I believe.
Re: EXP Area Rec
-Another recent addition to the decent exp pool is - giant tarantulas. Its interesting to note that at level 50 (along with snakes) they are essentially the same level as numerous lower level smobs (ie. ..plains mistress, Smitty).
-Several snakes load in the mound west of Tar Valon though the density may make killing them inefficient if more walk in than you can handle.
-Inefficient exp - hill giants. Unless things have changed, hill giants can be found in the cave west of Tar Valon, on the hill near Caralain, and via a raft near WB brigands (this load may have been removed). They are relatively high level but because they wear armor and kite shields their defense is I believe is higher than you would expect and their armor makes taking them down slower than simply killing a naked mob.
