Memorials of the Wheel

Post by Surtain » Mon Jun 11, 2018 10:36 pm

I was trying to think of the different memorials we had for players, but realized I didn't know them all. So here I am starting a list

Ciel:
* HP:Healthy MV:Tiring > w
A Panelled Sitting Room
Large, glazed arches look out across Tar Valon, lancet windows topped with
a trefoil opening. Hissing embers glow in a large fireplace, its mantel of
black stone ornately carved. The floor is covered with a luxurious Tairen
carpet, resplendent in tones of scarlet and green. Richly upholstered
armchairs sit around a low, polished table of black-stained wood. On the
wall hangs a large portrait of Ciel Sedai, black ribbons tied into the
latticework of the frame.
[ obvious exits: E S ]
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.

* HP:Healthy MV:Tiring > l portrait
Below the picture is a plaque that reads 'Portrait of a true Sister, Ciel
Sedai had the strength of a lion, a soul bent on justice and the heart of a
true friend. She will be missed.'

People also put "~C~" in their titles (I think)

Bell:
Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.
A large banner rests here, depicting a map of Tar Valon.
[ obvious exits: N E S W ]
A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
A city lamplighter stands nearby, attending his duties.
Etain a'Conn is standing here.
A gray palfrey prances skittishly nearby.
A wild stallion bucks madly.
The Tar Valon town crier stands here, spreading the news.

* HP:Healthy MV:Tiring > l fountain
Standing centered in this fountain is a sculpture of a tall, slender woman.
Her eyes seem to flash with a mischievous fire, and they invite you to rest
at the base of the fountain. Her arms are outstretched in welcome, and at
her feet lies a simple inscription:

Bell Theldara, Yellow Ajah Sitter

Adaire, Mushu, Seeras, and Neverborn (he hadn't played for a year at that time) are also names of characters owned by people who have died. If you can list those memorials or any others I am missing, that would be great. There was also that one CoL who had a memorial because her character died, but not the player. There was also Adara/Juvy who we were told died, but generally decided it was faked.

Paxle:

The Entrance Hall
This large hall has doorways in each of the four walls, all impressive in
height. A red carpet covers the marble floor. Portraits line the walls,
mostly of the Royal Family with some exceptional retainers honored as well.
The door to the north leads to Queen Morgase's throne room, while an
archway in the southern wall opens onto the palace courtyard. Doorways to
the east and west open into corridors.
[ obvious exits: N E S W ]
A long stem of crimson-colored rose blooms here.
A tactician's clerk tallies fallen enemies here.
An elite Lion Warden stands at his post.
An elite Lion Warden stands at his post.

* HP:Healthy SP:Bursting MV:Full > l portrait
l Exquisite oils capture the many faces and
ages of the Royal Family, each
frozen in time. Along with family portraits are those of Lion Warden in
days gone by, surely pictured to honor exceptional service. One life-size
portrait is marked 'Paxle'.

pa* HP:Healthy SP:Bursting MV:Full > xle
This is a life-size portrait? It's huge! An
ogier in full dress uniform of
the Lion Warden now forever guards the entry to Queen Morgase's throne
room, his gaze protective, the hand on his weapon ready. An inscription
reads "Lion Warden Paxle, Loyal Friend, Fierce in Battle, Ferocious in
Love. His heart was bigger than his body ever could be. Rest in peace,
friend. In memory of Ian T Chesnick, March 7, 2009."

Ingtar

* HP:Healthy SP:Bursting MV:Winded > Graveyard of Glancor
This has come to be the final resting place for those of Glancor who have
breathed their last. Just outside the city, the graveyard has neat little
rows of gravestones. Many of them are decorated with small vases of flowers
or potted plants. In particular, a large tombstone rises in the center of
the graveyard with a epitaph scrawled on it.

I think one of the lion cubs inside Morgase is also called Paxle? Could be misremembering.

Adaire 1n Coulin
A Bend in the Path
White benches border the path to either side and lawns of green grass
surround each bench. The White Tower rises over eighty spans in the air to
the southeast, dwarfing everything in the vicinity. Short shrubs butting up
against the sides of the Tower have been pruned to resemble miniature
trees. The white gravel path turns east and south past a bare rock garden
consisting of rocks that have been placed into the shape of a mountain. An
elegant sign stands at the edge of the rock garden.
[ obvious exits: E S ]
A shaggy brown mare stands here, being ridden by you.

* R HP:Scratched MV:Strong > l sign
The simple and elegant plaque reads:

Remember Adaire Sedai, for she did what must be done.

There's a bit more to Adaire's:

* Healthy SP:Bursting MV:Fresh > l garden
Soft and springy green moss forming smooth round tussocks surround a large
square area of finely grained white pebbles that have been raked in a
perfect wavy pattern. A small brass sign bearing a blue ribbon has been
placed along the edge of the pebbled area.

In the center, surrounded by a sea of pebbles, lies a small mountain of
gray granite boulders. At the base of the mountain, large blocks of
speckled granite support the smaller boulders and rocks above. Towering on
top of the carefully sculpted mountain is a tree: neither tall or straight,
but stunted as if it has had to struggle to stay alive. Sprouting from the
tree's limbs are a multitude of pink blossoms reaching for the sun's light.

The bar in the Red Eagle manor is loaded with memorials. The bartender even reacts to some names, which is more a homage than memorial, but it's still something. When I log on I'll record and post.

The Eagle Bar
Rough carved wood, barely sanded down to smoothness, forms several large,
low tables at which weary Eagles can rest their bones and hoist a mug or
have some food to rejuvenate them between battles. A large, well stocked
bar spans one wall, allowing an Eagle access to slake their thirst without
even having to move very far at all. The smell of spilled beer already
permeates the air. Mementoes of Skyle, Warrick, Greedyfly, Drizzt and Fever
are scattered around the room to look at. Surely more will appear in time.

Hung up on the wall is Skyle's old drinking horn, next to his rapier. Skyle
was one of the first men to hear the call of the Old Blood and fought
bravely for many years before handing over the reins to Warrick.

Over at one of the tables lies a massive haunch of meat, looking gnawed
upon, with a red hilted dagger stuck through it. You know that this means
this is Warrick's meal, along with the pitcher of beer that is half spilled
across the table. The haunch is only half cooked, for it is said that
Warrick will go anywhere to follow the scent of blood that he wishes more
of, and he likes his meat that way too.

Scratched into a wall here is Greedyfly's name, followed by the word peace
and a crude carving of what appears to be a seal, the one that Greedyfly
helped save for the Light so that the Dark One could not break loose.

Leaning in the corner of the room is Drizzt's enormous sword, still stained
with the blood of countless trollocs that he could not be bothered cleaning
off. Scratched into the blade and brought to life by dried blood, possibly
his own, is the claim to stand until the last drops of blood have been
shed.

A hastily carved key to Baerlon's gates hangs over the fireplace here, a
reminder of Fever's ability to escape certain death. He kept it as a trophy
of the time that he was trapped there by the feared Shadowspawn Smasher and
Ove, along with others of note, and still managed to make his escape
through patience and stealth.
