A Small Nook
The passage of books that runs to the east dead-ends at a cramped alcove.
Books line the walls on all sides, and several old, plush chairs have been
dragged into the corner, the better to read in seclusion. A few volumes
have been left out on a small table near the chairs, which seem to indicate
the composition of the recess philosophy, reasoning, and the pursuit of
logic. The only apparent exit is the opening of the corridor to the east.

Elona has arrived from the east.

Osara sinks into a plush chair.

Elona the Fledgling Novice is standing here.

Osara says 'So.'

Osara ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Osara says 'You'll be familiar with weaving ice from the air, I assume?'

Osara feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara gestures sharply, flows of Air and Water weaving in a complex tangle.

Osara says 'That takes some time to weave.'

Osara says 'And of course, you can be interrupted while weaving it.'

Osara says 'It takes approximately the same amount of time to weave a fireball.'

Osara's weave grows more complex, layers of Fire adding to the mix.

Osara lets her hands fall, the weaves fading.

Osara says 'Why might you want to pick one over the other?'

Elona the Fledgling Novice is standing here.

Elona ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Elona says 'Women are weaker in the element of fire?'

Osara nods at Elona.

Elona says 'we maybe have an advantage weaving air and water'

Osara says 'Certainly, that is a factor. But we are all different, and some women are stronger in the more male elements.'

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara says 'Have you considered the weather?'

Osara gestures towards the window of the Tower.

Osara have no feeling about the weather at all.

Elona says 'some weaves need stormy weather?'

Osara's mouth quirks at the edges.

Osara says 'Some weaves do - you cannot call lightning without that it appears in the sky.'

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara says 'With regard to the ice spikes of which we spoke, you may find they melt slightly in warmer climes.'

Osara says 'And conversely, a fireball does little against a trolloc in the snow.'

Osara's mouth quirks in a crooked smile.

Osara says 'Without greater knowledge and experience, attempting to learn both is impractical.'

Osara says 'However there are simpler, faster weaves to consider.'

Osara says 'If you have learnt to throw spikes of ice, you likely will also be able to learn to bring forth a hailstorm.'

Osara says 'Which is very quick.'

Osara feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Osara weaves Water and Air together to draw ice crystals from the air in a chilly blast.

Elona shivers uncomfortably.

Hiroko has arrived from the east.

Elona smiles happily.

Hiroko arches an eyebrow.

curt hiroko
Osara curtseys before Hiroko.

Hiroko nods, bells in her hair chiming softly.

Elona curtseys before Hiroko.

Hiroko looks at Elona.

Osara says 'Good morning, Hiroko Sedai.'

Hiroko's nose wrinkles as she takes in the stacks of books.

Elona says 'Hello Hiroko Sedai'

Hiroko says dryly 'Good morning? If you say so Accepted.'

Hiroko looks at Osara.

Osara stops using a bladed feather staff.

Osara's cheeks are burning.

Hiroko says 'I myself use a staff for walking up and down these interminable stairs.'

Osara says 'I...was just teaching Elona, Aes Sedai.'

Elona stops using a staff of sungwood.

Hiroko says 'Never worry about your weapon in my presence.'

Hiroko says 'Others may snap your head off, but I will not.'

Osara's mouth quirks in a crooked smile.

Hiroko grins evilly.

Osara says 'Thank you, Hiroko Sedai.'

Hiroko nods in agreement.

A Shienaran scout narrates 'Spawn north of Lockshear!'

Hiroko says 'Novice, is Accepted Osara teaching you important things?'

Elona curtseys before Hiroko.

Elona says 'Yes Hiroko Sedai'

Elona says 'she has taken valuable time to teach me about weaves'

Hiroko says 'So you don't know how to catch a Gaidin's eye in the practice yard?'

Hiroko looks at Osara and rolls her eyes.

Elona blushes.

Hiroko says 'Accepted. Your training is surely lacking.'

Hiroko chuckles politely.

Hiroko licks her mouth and smiles.

Hiroko says 'What have you to say for yourself?'

Osara says 'I will so notify Amelya, Hiroko Sedai.'

Hiroko says 'I suppose that will suffice. '

Hiroko says 'For now.'

Hiroko gives Osara a pointed glare.

Hiroko says 'Carry on ladies.'

Hiroko leaves east.

Osara gulps audibly.

Osara turns back to you.

Osara offers a weak smile.

Osara says 'Where were we?'

Osara taps a finger on her lip thoughtfully.

Osara says 'Ah yes.'

Elona smiles happily.

Elona says 'my heart has just started beating again'

Osara says 'If you have chosen a slow weave for combat, you will most likely be able to learn a faster counterpart.'

Elona says 'I think I was holding my breath'

Osara nods in agreement.

warm You'll get used to it.

Osara says warmly, 'You'll get used to it.'

Elona the Fledgling Novice is standing here.

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara says 'If you have learnt to throw fireballs, conversely, you will be able to learn how to weave firestrikes.'

Osara leans forward slightly.

Elona says 'are the slower weaves more powerful than the faster?'

Osara says 'Now, both hailstorms and firestrikes are equally quick to weave, so there is no point learning both.'

Osara nods at Elona.

Osara says 'Yes, good.'

Osara says 'The slower weaves do a lot more damage.'

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara says 'Now, to even the mix...'

Osara says 'There is also a weave called 'Hammer of Air'.'

Osara says 'It is quick, like hailstorms and firestrikes, but does a little bit less damage.'

Osara says 'However, sometimes the strength of the wind sends a foe sprawling.'

Elona grins evilly.

Osara says 'And if you are sharp, you have time to weave spikes of ice, or perhaps a fireball.'

Osara says 'And of course there is lightning, which IS quick, but sooner count on a man that a reliable storm!'

Osara grins at Elona.

Elona says 'it sounds very complicated'

Elona stops using a leather water flask.

Elona drinks water from a leather water flask.

Osara says 'Well, you're in the White Tower now.'

Elona puts a leather water flask on her belt.

Osara says 'It's only going to get more complicated.'

Elona says 'I know, I enjoy the challenges to learn'

Osara says 'So, do you know either hailstorm or firestrike?'

Elona says 'I do not, unfortunately.'

Osara thinks really hard.

Elona says 'so far I have learned ice spikes'

Osara says 'And what about the ability to weave fire into the eyes?'

Elona says 'I practiced blind, but as I learned it as a wilder I am not sure if it is the same weave you mention?'

Osara nods in agreement.

Osara says 'It is.'

Elona smiles happily.

Elona says 'oh great'

Osara says 'Well, I have nothing more to teach you today.'

Osara says 'I'll take care of the books up here - perhaps you might rake the paths, or wash the dishes?'

Elona nods in agreement.

Osara nods in agreement.

Osara says 'And Sheriam may have tasks for you, if you ask her.'

Elona says 'thank you accepted Osara'

Elona curtseys before Osara.

Elona stops following Osara.

Osara's mouth quirks in a crooked smile.

Elona waves.

Osara says 'Just Osara, remember?'

Elona thanks Osara heartily.

Elona smiles happily.

Thank you so much Osara for taking the time to teach a wide-eyed novice the basics. I have been extremely lucky to have crossed paths with so many patient and helpful individuals in the Tower.
