Layers within Layers.

Post by Aira » Tue May 07, 2024 10:50 pm

Aira comes across Lord Aldevir of Andor and they exchange pleasantries. However, unbeknownst to Lord Aldevir, there is a deeper layer to her words regarding Andor, referencing old plans from Aira's rp stories. Plans Larry is not in favor of.

Main character: Aira
Main character: Aldevir
Drive-by newbie: Wanda

Caemlyn Central Square
Aira is in a large stone square, right in the middle of Caemlyn's outer
city. You see a wide boulevard to the north, and the path to the inner
city. There are a number of shops around you. The density of the population
is really quite incredible. It's almost impossible to relax as you are
being constantly bumped and jostled. From here you can really get a good
view of the outer city, and this just makes you appreciate the older inner
city all the more. A large banner hangs nearby, depicting a map of
Caemlyn's outer city.

Zone: Outer Caemlyn
A fountain is here, offering clear blue water to all.
A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
Lord Aldevir Caldaire, Soldier of Andor is standing here.
An old man hobbles slowly on his way.
A Rising Sun soldier defends the realm here.
A Domani razor stands here, eyes keen and swishing its tail, being ridden by you.
Etain of Murandy is standing here.
The Caemlyn town crier stands here, spreading the news.
A stout looking guard is here, walking the streets of Caemlyn.
A gleeman is here, playing a lute.
A stout looking guard is here, walking the streets of Caemlyn.
A recruitment officer stands here, speaking of the Queen's Guard.

Aldevir looks at Aira.

Aira drinks the stout ale.

Aldevir says 'Lady Aira, I was expecting to find you in a...brighter cloak.'

Aldevir says 'Perhaps I am confused in my old age...'

Aira says 'I have not worn that cloak in at least 6 years, my Lord.'

Aira says 'One might say, I have seen the Light...'

Aldevir says 'I dare say that this one suits you better.'

A Rising Sun soldier rolls his eyes...sheesh!..

Aira says 'I agree. Perhaps not as bright, but definitely a new day.'

Aldevir says 'Though we have seen our share of disputes with Cairhien, the history is not quite as violent as it was with the Whitecloaks'

Aldevir says 'But, alas, the young guardsmen tell me that we are at peace with all these days.'

Aira says 'Indeed, and we are united through Taringail Damodred.'

Aldevir says 'Strange days indeed.'

Aira says 'May relations between Andor and Cairhien remain steady and peaceful for many years to come.'

Aldevir nods in agreement.

Aldevir says 'The days of constant squabbling seem to be past, which is for the better'

Aira says 'Indeed.'

Aldevir says 'So that we can focus our efforts against the Shadow'

Aira says 'Indeed. Hopefully the Aiel remain quiet, so that our attention is not divided on three fronts.'

Aira says 'While the Seanchan may have retreated from Andor, I don't trust those as far as I can throw them.'

Aldevir says 'Have there been issues with the Aiel recently?'

Aira says 'On occasion.'

Aldevir says 'The Seanchan could retreat to the bottom of the ocean and it would not be far enough for my liking.'

Aira says 'Hear hear!'

Aldevir grins evilly.

Aldevir says 'Light protect us if we do find the Aiel upon us.'

Aira says 'They are fierce fighters, the men and the women both.'

Aira says 'It's a shame they are deluded savages.'

Aira smirks.

Aldevir says 'I've faced a few of them in times past and am not keen to try my luck against them again'

Aira nods emphatically.

Aldevir says 'Though I'm not keen to try my luck at getting out of bed some days'

Aldevir chuckles politely.

Aira says 'Age creeps up on us all.'

Aira says 'All we can pray for is that we do it with dignity.'

Aldevir nods in agreement.

Aira says 'Your Queen, she is everything a woman of her age can aspire to be.'

Aira says 'She is definitely an example for me.'

A Rising Sun soldier looks at Aira sharply.

Aldevir says 'She is an example to us all. I've been through much in her service and regret none of it.'

Aira nods pleasantly.

Aldevir says 'Even the dark days of her sickness and the events surrounding her "cleansing" by the White Tower.'

Aira says 'Yes, that was a nasty business.'

Aira says 'But with such a wise woman for a mother, Andor is looking at a bright future, I'm sure.'

Aldevir nods in agreement.

Aldevir says 'Aside from the camp of shadowspawn that seems to have taken up permanent residence in the Caralain Grasslands, things do truly seem to be peaceful.'

Aldevir says 'We don't lay claim to those grasslands, but its a bit too close for comfort for me.'

Aldevir says 'Direct route from there to the Braem Wood, which could be used very effectively against our cities'

Aira says 'Has Tar Valon not been any help? One would think they would take this seriously.'

Aldevir shrugs helplessly.

Aldevir says 'I can't speak to the intention of the Aes Sedai, but hopefully the Queen has reached out to them.'

Aira nods in agreement.

Aldevir says 'A coordinated effort between Andor and Tar Valon could surely dispatch them quickly.'

Aira says 'Indeed, one would hope so. If ever Andor needs my aid, I will give it willingly.'

Aldevir smiles happily.

Aldevir says 'We are fortunate to be able to consider you a friend now.'

Aira smiles and bows, hand over her heart.

Aldevir says 'It will certainly take me some time to adjust to the idea of us being at peace with the Whitecloaks'

Aldevir says 'Not that that has anything to do with you now'

Aira says 'Peace between Andor and the Children never lasts, not until you will find common ground.'

Aldevir says 'Its just quite a thing to imagine.'

Aira says 'It gets lonely to be the only one actively fighting the Shadow.'

Aldevir says 'Have you been fighting alone?'

Aira says 'When I was a Child, yes.'

Aira says 'Many of the others were content to remain in the Fortress.'

Aira says 'Hanging innocent men and women.'

Aldevir says 'That is probably fortunate for all the innocent villagers throughout the lands.'

A Rising Sun soldier grimaces.

Aira rests a hand on Larry's arm.

Aira says 'Indeed. It would seem some only prey on the weak.'

Aldevir says 'As I recall, that was not your way during your time with the Whitecloaks, which I always appreciated.'

Aldevir says 'There was at least some honor to be found amongst their ranks.'

Aldevir says 'Not that the Queen's Guard have not had their share of bad apples'

Aira bows her head slightly.

Aira says 'Thank you, I did always try to do the right thing, even if it cost me.'

Aira says 'Andor has a long tradition of upholding justice, something others can aspire to.'

Aldevir says 'We have certainly tried...'

Aldevir says 'There were times in my prime where we were constantly plagued by bandits and their like'

Aldevir says 'But it seems we are still here and they are not'

Aira says 'The righteous will always prevail, Lord Aldevir.'

Aldevir chuckles politely.

A Rising Sun soldier says 'Perhaps the righteous thing to do would be to return to our duties in Cairhien?'

Aldevir peers closely at a Rising Sun soldier, trying to figure him out.

Aldevir says 'Surely the Lady here has earned some time off in Andor.'

Aldevir looks at a Rising Sun soldier.

Aldevir says 'And I dare say that it should be your honor to see that she is safe while she does it.'

A Rising Sun soldier says 'Perhaps she would be better served with some time training with the warders, shaking off some rust.'

Aldevir looks at a Rising Sun soldier archly.

Aira says 'Please excuse Larry, he does so like to remind me about my flaws in combat.'

Aira says 'He's not wrong, mind, but...'

A Rising Sun soldier mutters to himself in complete disgust.

A Rising Sun soldier says 'At least you admit to it, now.'

Aldevir chuckles politely.

Aldevir says 'You seem to have found yourself quite the cheeky companion'

Aira says 'He is a former Child as well.'

Aira says 'And a long time friend.'

Aira smiles at a Rising Sun soldier.

A Rising Sun soldier scoffs at that.

A Rising Sun soldier says 'You would listen to a friend.'

Aldevir says 'I envy you that. All of the guardsmen that used to accompany me are all above my paygrade now.'

Aldevir says 'At times a palace guard may agree to follow me around, but they are quite useless'

Aldevir says 'They life a soft life guarding the palace'

Aira says 'Comfort makes even the hardest man grow soft.'

Aira says 'Perhaps take them out into the plains to combat the Shadow?'

Aldevir slaps his belly while chuckling to himself.

Aldevir says 'I'm certainly living proof of that fact.'

Aira says 'A reminder about the true threats in life has a way of inspiring action.'

Aldevir says 'Truth be told...I'm not even certain I'm authorized to take them out.'

Aira says 'The ones in the barracks should follow your lead.'

Aldevir says 'So much has changed that much is foreign to me'

Wanda has arrived from the north.

Aldevir looks at Wanda.

Aira says 'The barracks welcome foreign soldiers too. Larry has spent time there, whenever business takes us to Andor.'

Aldevir nods at Wanda.

A Rising Sun soldier nods in agreement.

Wanda says 'is there a faster way to exp then stags?'

Aldevir nods in agreement.

Aira says 'the quests from the man out the south gate'

Aldevir says 'If memory serves me you can find a fair number of old trees north of Whitebridge'

Aldevir says 'With your current attire you could probably take them on with care'

Wanda says 'man out south gate?'

Wanda says 'ill see him'

Wanda says 'thank you'

Wanda waves.

Wanda leaves north. ^^

Aldevir says 'By her demeanor she might be too inexperienced for the trees I referenced.'

Aira nods in agreement.

Aldevir says 'Thankfully it sounds like she took your advice and not mine.'

Aira says 'I forget the man's name, but there aren't that many lurking out there.'

Aira says 'In truth, Larry is right, I should return to Cairhien.'

Aira says 'Light be with you and Andor, Lord Aldevir.'

Aldevir smiles at Aira.

Aira bows before Aldevir.

Aldevir says 'Light be with you, Lady Aira.'

Aldevir says 'Thank you for keeping me company and humoring me.'

Aira smiles happily.

Aira says 'You are welcome.'
