Entrance to the Gray Wing
Smooth, glossy floor tiles in hues of pewter, slate and dove gray form a
monochrome mosaic. The top of the pale white stone walls that give the
White Tower its name have been adorned with a frieze of Ogier stonework,
depicting olive branches, leaves and fruit that seem so lifelike they seem
ready to flutter a breeze. Two large, polished double doors with brass
handles offer entry to the Gray Ajah wing.

the floor of the hallway, interspersed with pure white floor tiles marked
with a gray Flame of Tar Valon. A number of large portraits line the
corridor. Each image shows a woman with an ageless face wearing a
seven-striped stole. These are all sisters who were raised to Amyrlin from
the Gray Ajah. A frieze depicting olive branches, their blossoms and fruits
decorates the uppermost part of the pale, white stone wall.

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An

Azareth smiles at her.

Aldwyn says 'If it pleases, Councilor Azareth is the delegate. I am here as his escort.'

Azareth says 'I am. It appears our positions have brought us to meet and speak for our respective organizations.'

Chloro nods to Aldwyn motioning for the Accepted to set down the refreshments. "Welcome to the White
Tower Gentlemen."

Aldwyn smiles at Melosa and the refreshments, "Oooo mint and..."

Aldwyn sniffs sadly.

Aldwyn says 'cloudberry?'

Melosa gildes to the side of the room beside the tall window and remains standing.

Aldwyn says 'Sorry, Sitter Chloro. It was a long trip.'

Azareth says 'The journey from Mayene to the rest of the civilized world is not what I would ever call comfortable. However, we were able to arrive without much delay.'

Aldwyn tries to quietly take a cup of tea without interrupting.

Azareth says 'A decline in the waterlizard population was helpful in the earlier part of our journey.'

Aldwyn sips from the cup.

Azareth says 'We made attempts to keep you apprised of our estimated arrival. I hope you were not kept waiting overlong.'

Chloro waves her hand at the formality. "Simply Chloro Sedai will do, please, let us take a bit of rest, I know I have been busy after last nights events. I suspect both of you have to. " Chloro gracefully glides to the large round table offering the men a seat while taking her own.

Azareth smiles grimly and nods slightly at Chloro Sedai.

Azareth says 'Reports. More reports than usual.'

Aldwyn takes a seat just off of across from Chloro, picking up a tiny pastry that is hard to find in Mayene.

Azareth sit down on a stout oaken chair.

Azareth says 'Permit me to be straightforward. I enjoy pleasantries, but I do not enjoy having a difficult task hanging over my head.'

Azareth says 'May I summarize my understanding of this situation and you can point out if I have misconstrued the situation?'

Chloro says 'Then let us get down to business, I am Kandori, and much like its merchants prefer not to beat around the bush. Please proceed.'

smile chloro
Azareth smiles at her.

Azareth takes a deep breath.
Azareth emote: Azareth takes a deep breath.

Aldwyn arches an eyebrow slightly, taking a bite of the little pastry.

Azareth says 'Lord Santino is a well-respected and beloved member of our standing army and of the nobility of Mayene. In fact, I believe he is privy to information regarding our prized fisheries that even I have special precautions within which I must operate when dealing with the Mayeners that work them.'

I have recorded that santino did is a wellrespected and beloved member of our standing army and <<i have no idea what this is but i’m leaving it in

Azareth says 'Recently, Lord Santino has taken it upon himself to defend the lands outside of Mayene as he did often in his youth. However, his travels have brought him in contact with people that may not know of him, in name nor reputation.'

Melosa murmurs, "Oilfish.." under her breath.

Chloro continues listening as she takes a glass of spiced wine from the center of the table, with the grace of a high lady she takes a sip pinky slightly out before returning the glass to the table.

Azareth says 'I am uncertain whether Lord Santino overheard comments or comments were made directly to him by various White Tower members or affiliates. '

Azareth says 'His word in our homeland is never questioned. He has provided enough years of service in which his integrity has never been besmirched.'

Chloro nods allowing Azareth to continue, while mentally notating the Accepteds demeanor.

Azareth says 'My difficulty here is that he will neither name the responsible persons, nor tell me exactly what those statements were. I am assured the comments were not only disparaging, but downright crude, in regard to Lady Berelain, The First of Mayene, and direct descendant of Tyrn sur Paendrag Mashera.'

Azareth waves his hand as if brushing something out of the air.
Azareth emote: Azareth waves his hand as if brushing something out of the air.

Azareth says 'People talk. People should be allowed to voice their opinions.'

Melosa whispers something to Chloro.

Chloro says 'I believe, as my own eyes and ears have investigated this I can elaborate on who, but not what was said.'

Azareth says 'However, The Winged Guard holds its members to a professional standard when they are on duty and recognizable as members of the organization.'

Aldwyn listens as he idly starts rolling a Tar Valon silver mark across his knuckles.

nod chloro
Azareth nods at her.

Chloro says 'It seems three sitters of the hall, myself included, and Lys Sedai of the Blue Ajah.'

Azareth ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Azareth says 'If I may pose a question?'

Chloro says 'Please due.'

Azareth says 'Let us say, hypothetically, Lord Aldwyn here called the Amyrlin Seath some sort of slur or made comments about wanting to do things with her that should never be detailed in polite conversation.'

Aldwyn blinks his eyes innocently.

Chloro says 'I follow you so far.'

Azareth says 'I apologize, Lord Aldwyn, I use you as an example because I know you would never do such a thing.'

Azareth says 'These comments might not be different from what some traveler, laborer, or bar patron might say.'

Azareth says 'The difference lies in the fact that he represents Mayene to the public, even if his position does appoint him to do so specifically.'

Chloro raises a hand for pause.

Chloro says 'Forgive me Counciler, threatening an Aes Sedai, or the Amyrlin seat has a bit of a hallow ring. The Child of the light hunt us, the Black Talon seek to slit our throats and make off with our coin purses. The shadow seeks to annihilate us. I believe we have a much thicker skin than most.'

Azareth chuckles politely.

Azareth says 'I do not doubt it. But I was not saying any threats were made.'

Chloro says 'However as far as nobility is concerned, the great game is played within the Tower more savagely than in Cairhien. I can see the point you attempt to make'

Azareth nods in agreement.

Chloro says 'I believe Lord Santino visited Tar Valon twice today.'

Azareth says 'I believe so. I am under the impression his later visit was a diplomatic one, along with my fellow councillor.'

Chloro says 'Once attempting to bribe the very Accepted attending us in this room to spy on Aes Sedai. The other to speak with my Sister Kathala. Though reports very and it is possible the second meeting was in Andor.'

Melosa smoothens her skirts and composes herself.

Melosa says 'Indeed, Chloro Sedai'

Azareth tries to suppress a smile and fails spectacularly.

Azareth emote: Azareth tries to suppress a smile and fails spectacularly.

Azareth says 'It seems we have two separate, only loosely-related issues to discuss then.'

Chloro leans in with a calm serene mask on her face. "However I do not hold the first meeting
against anyone other than Santino. The first issue so long as there is no repeat can be consider moot."

Aldwyn catches the mark from his knuckles, sticking it back somewhere beneath his cloak. He gives a glance over to the Accepted as if considering things.

The carveddoor is opened from the other side.

Mariah has arrived from the east.

Mariah closes the carveddoor.
Azareth says 'When you say the first issue, do you mean Lord Santino's clumsy attempt at playing spymaster?'

Melosa curtseys before Mariah.

Chloro says 'I do Counciler.'

Azareth nods in agreement.

Mariah inclines her head politely to those gathered around the meeting room.

Chloro smiles to her sister offering a seat at the table.

Melosa whispers something to Mariah.

Azareth says 'I will speak to him, insofar as anyone can.'

Chloro says 'Gentlemen I believe you know of my sister Mariah Sedai, for Mayene.'

Melosa gives a goblet of light white wine to Mariah.

Mariah shines a small smiles at the Accepted.

Aldwyn says 'I will talk to him about that as well, Councilor.'

Azareth feels sober again.

Azareth stands up.

Azareth bows before her.

Aldwyn beams a smile at Mariah.

Azareth says 'Lady Sedai.'

Aldwyn stands and gives a slight bow to Mariah Sedai.

Aldwyn says 'A pleasure, Mariah Sedai.'

Azareth says 'Do we need a moment to bring you up to speed or are there ways you have been kept apprised of the current conversation?'

Mariah says 'A pleasure. I can't stay long, but I saw Mayene was in attendance.'

smile mariah
Azareth smiles at her.

Mariah says 'please, don't let me interrupt.'

Azareth says 'Unfortunately for business, which we will hopefully conclude without much fuss.'

Azareth says 'Chloro Sedai, you brought to my attention something one of the members of my organization did while in uniform, in your lands, and involving one of your members.'

Mariah rests her hands gently on the table, her bracelets clinking softly as they jostle one
another.

Chloro says 'Indeed, I have.'

Azareth says 'I believe this to be a professional and dignified way of handling matters.'

Chloro smiles warmly a light to her exotic gray eyes. "As do I Counciler Azareth."

Azareth says 'I thank you for your grace.'

Mariah whispers something to Melosa.

Melosa whispers something to Mariah.

Aldwyn takes his seat again, the coin suddenly back in his hand as he rolls it idly.

Azareth says 'I doubt you need a history lesson, but not all present may know that Tar Valon, Mayene, and Far Madding are the surviving sovereign city-states from the Hundred Years War.'

Aldwyn whispers to you, 'imagine being at a meeting and whispering to others. How rude.'

Mariah nods briskly, then takes a cup from the refreshments Melosa indicated.

Azareth says 'Since then, Mayene has aided Tar Valon in repelling the Aiel from its shores.'

Mariah says 'The tradition to send its High Born daughters to Tar Valon for testing is in fact how I am here today.'

Azareth says 'Or military may not have the numbers of some larger nations, but we sent some of the finest in our nation to aide in the defense of your nation.'

Aldwyn nods at Mariah.

Azareth says 'And I think that brings us to the heart of the matter.'

Chloro says 'You have sent some of your finest women to. Mariah Sedai is no the only woman to wear the shawl from Mayene.'

Azareth says 'And if our present Lady First showed an aptitude for it, no doubt she would have trained here as well.'

Melosa curtseys before Mariah.

Aldwyn stands for Mariah Sedai as she excuses herself.

Azareth says 'The relationship between our two lands has withstood all the time between Artur Hawking and the people present today.'

smile mariah
Azareth smiles at her.

Azareth bows deeply.

Mariah stands from her seat, saying goodbye without interrupting the proceedings more than she must.

Chloro watches her sister depart, a bit of pride in her eyes.

Mariah says 'It was a pleasure to meet with you all, I just regret that I couldn't have helped more with the situation.'

Mariah says 'The White Tower values its relationship with Mayene, know that to be true.'

Mariah opens the carveddoor.

specific way at a specific time. Where as with a trader, mercenary, or the like it's much more
straightforward and to the point'

Azareth says 'So, that being said, I would like nothing more than to resolve this matter and return to a time when Aes Sedai traveled in our lands with not only our permission, but our friendship and protection.'

Chloro says 'I to would enjoy that time to return.'

Azareth says 'To me, the heart of the matter seems to be that The White Tower as an organization allows its members, and notable members at that, to disparage the leaders of other lands with whom there was supposed to be a friendship.'

Azareth says 'And thereby allows that member to represent the feelings of the Aes Sedai and Tar Valon.'

Chloro drinks water from a water skin.

Azareth says 'If these were statements made in private conversation, I would say it is important to allow people to have their opinions.'

Azareth says 'However, as statements made to the public at large, I cannot help but call into question whether the nature of our relationship has changed.'

Chloro says 'If I may to have it correct. '

Chloro says 'What I understand you to be saying is, without evidence of which person said these slanderous things, you now call into questions the relationship between The White Tower and Mayene. However a man who prefers to be called Lord Santino publicly called out sitters of the hall and an Aes Sedai. The General public I would add. '

Chloro says 'A outburst that somehow without examination of evidence led to the ban of White Tower members and Tar Valon Citizens entering the borders the Mayene.'

Chloro says 'I want to make sure I have that correct, so please if this is not true, tell me.'

Azareth says 'If he is to believed, and in Mayene, he is, I would say I am not surprised his -what did you call it? an outburst? I am not surprised his outburst was public.'

Chloro says 'I then need to ask.'
Azareth says 'We are not a large nation. We are however proud of our people, our land, our history, and our leaders.'

nod chloro
Azareth nods at her.

Chloro says 'Does Lord Santino speak for the Winged Guard Council and The First of Mayene? '

Azareth says 'He does not. Lord Santino is a Lord by merit and within House Du Lis of Mayene. He may speak for his house and for himself. He may issue orders as appropriate for his rank within the military organization.'

Chloro says 'Does this extend to a banishment of all White Tower members, and citizens of Tar Valon, or is the Council of a different position?'

Azareth says 'Councillor Rogan, also of House Du Lis, has supported the action, I believe as a temporary situation, while hoping to come to a resolution.'

Chloro motions for the Accepted to come to the table and have a seat. "Forgive me, the child needs rest, I remember well how sore an Accepteds knees can get."

Azareth says 'Given his affiliation, I thought it best I made my way here and preclude suggestions of bias.'

Melosa smiles gratefully.

Melosa says 'Thank you, Chloro Sedai'

Melosa sits down on a stout oaken chair.

Chloro says 'So then, the entire council is not of the same mind. What do you propose as a remedy to this situation?'

Azareth says 'If I may be blunt about this whole situation, I would prefer none of this ended up on my desk.'

Aldwyn gives Melosa a wide smile as she sits.

Azareth says 'But here I am, as if reports aren't piling up on that desk as we speak.'

Chloro says 'That makes two of us Councilor.'

Azareth thinks really hard.

nod azareth
Azareth nods to himself. Very reassuring.

Azareth says 'What status does the White Tower give to Tar Valon? Is it a city, a city-state, a nation, a province?'

Someone knocks on the carveddoor from the other side.

Melosa clambers to her feet.

Melosa frowns.

Melosa says 'Forgiveness, Chloro Sedai. I will check'

Melosa opens the carveddoor.

Melosa leaves east. >>

Chloro sighs slightly clasping her hands on the table in front of her. "So we come to the matter at heart."

Azareth says 'It's always something, but it's often something else.'

Aldwyn smiles at the Councilor's words.

Chloro says 'A question then, what does the council think it would gain from the backing of Tar
Valon?'

Plando bellows 'enjoy the wine!'

Plando bellows 'tally ho.'

Melosa has arrived from the east.

Melosa closes the carveddoor.

Melosa coughs gently.

Melosa sets down a bottle of Muradian red wine by the stand.

Melosa smoothens her skirts and composes herself once again.

Azareth says 'I will make broad assumptions about what you mean by backing. I and my colleagues believe Tar Valon to be a powerful nation, with influence across the lands. We also believe that its
ability to govern within its own borders has gone unchallenged, and rightfully so.'

(tic_timer): Tic in 7 seconds!

Azareth says 'We also consider Tar Valon and its people our friends.'

Azareth says 'I once fought my childhood best friend in the mud behind a tavern.'

Azareth says 'We were young men at the time.'

Azareth says 'I thought we were going to kill each other.'

Azareth says 'We didn't even come close.'

Chloro says 'The same question Councilor, what benefit do you think Mayene would gain?'

Azareth says 'My friend, he had a blackened eye.'

Azareth says 'He broke my nose.'

Azareth says 'He also set my nose. Poorly. Which is how I became so handsome.'

Azareth says 'He still comes by at times.'

Azareth says 'Even after all these years.'

Azareth says 'I still consider Tar Valon to be friends of Mayene.'

Azareth says 'Even if you broke our nose.'

Azareth says 'Why would our friend resist acknowledging our sovereignty?'

Chloro says 'A wise friend would point out how dangerous such a thing could be. Especially with current events.'

Melosa nods at Chloro's words.

Chloro says 'If I may.'

Azareth nods in agreement.

Chloro takes a deep breath then embraces the source a large map of the continent moving on flows of air to lay on the table in front of Azareth. "Tear regardless of what could be said will not recognize Mayene."

Azareth arches an eyebrow.

Azareth says 'Tear and Moreina are not, and never were, one and the same.'

Chloro says 'Further more, the backing of such an entity would also mean you take on the enemies of that entity as well. '

Chloro says 'To be blunt. The Seanchan have an outpost to the west. Dragonsworn with Male Channelers have taken a Fortress in Mirkwood, and Trollocs raid into the Spine. Adding any other unnecessary conflicts would not be advisable.'

Azareth says 'To be blunt. That makes me believe we have changed and grown apart, as so often happens.'

Azareth says 'And here I was hoping you would still come over.'

Azareth says 'Mayene, once part of the province of Moreina, has never recognized Tear as its governing body.'

Chloro says 'One last question, has anyone asked the First of Mayene her position on this?'

Azareth says 'The First is always, and has always been, clear about this.'

Azareth says 'She is the ruler of the sovereign Mayene, as were all her predecessors.'

Chloro says 'I see, would you allow a daughter of Mayene to return home and discuss these matters further?'

Azareth says 'I would personally give blanket permission for one born in Mayene and raised to the shawl in Tar Valon to return home. However, to forestall any misunderstandings, I ask she announce her visit beforehand.'

Azareth says 'The last thing I want is for my headache to produce offspring.'

Aldwyn can't quite hide a chuckle though he tries as he sips at the cooling tea.

Re: How did this end up on my desk? Mayene/Tower relations

Post by Chloro » Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:30 pm

I would like to make sure Azareth gets credit as very few have seen him rp, but he made a worthy contender for Choro Sedai!

Here is the log with a full edit!

An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.

Someone knocks on the carveddoor from the other side.

Chloro gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Melosa has arrived from the east.
Azareth has arrived from the east.
Aldwyn has arrived from the east.

Melosa curtseys before you.

Melosa curtseys before Annoura Larisen.

Azareth bows before Chloro.

Melosa says 'Chloro Sedai, Lord Aldwyn and the Mayene delegation.'

Aldwyn inclines his head in greeting to you.

Melosa closes the carveddoor.

Chloro looks to the gathered party and smiles warmly, exotic gray eyes looking over each of them."Ah Lord Aldwyn and this must be Master Azareth?"

Azareth smiles at you.

"Welcome to the White Tower Gentlemen."

Melosa opens a large round table.

Chloro says 'I trust your journey was comfortable?'

Azareth chuckles politely.

Melosa gets a cup of blueberry tea from a large round table.

Melosa gives a cup of blueberry tea to Aldwyn.

Melosa gets a goblet of Cairhien wine from a large round table.

Aldwyn beams a smile at Melosa.

Aldwyn thanks Melosa heartily.

Chloro gracefully glides to the large round table offering the men a seat while taking her own.

Azareth smiles grimly and nods slightly at Chloro Sedai.

Azareth says 'Reports. More reports than usual.'

Aldwyn takes a seat just off of across from Chloro, picking up a tiny pastry that is hard to find in Mayene.

Chloro motions to a large teetering stack on her desk. "The wheel does not stop spinning for anyone Councilor Azareth, please be seated and take what refreshment you wish."

Azareth nods at you.

Azareth says 'My thanks, Aes Sedai.'

Azareth sits down on a stout oaken chair.

Azareth smiles at you.

Azareth takes a deep breath.

I am assured the comments were not only disparaging, but downright crude, in regard to Lady Berelain, The First of Mayene, and direct descendant of Tyrn sur Paendrag Mashera.'!

Azareth waves his hand as if brushing something out of the air.

Azareth says 'People talk. People should be allowed to voice their opinions.'

You say 'I believe, as my own eyes and ears have investigated this I can elaborate on who, but not what was said.'

Azareth says 'However, The Winged Guard holds its members to a professional standard when they are on duty and recognizable as members of the organization.'

Aldwyn listens as he idly starts rolling a Tar Valon silver mark across his knuckles.

Azareth nods at you.

Azareth nods at you.

Melosa smiles slightly.

Azareth gets a goblet of Cairhien wine from a large round table.

Aldwyn shivers a little at the thought of Siuan Sanche hearing something said about her and how quick the offender would be strung up like a fish.

Azareth beams a smile at Melosa.

Azareth makes eye contact with Aldwyn and gives an ever-so-slight shrug.

Azareth says 'It seems we have two separate, only loosely-related issues to discuss then.'

Chloro leans in with a calm serene mask on her face. "However I do not hold the first meeting against anyone other than Santino.

Chloro says 'Gentlemen I believe you know of my sister Mariah Sedai, from Mayene.'

Melosa gives a goblet of light white wine to Mariah.

Mariah shines a small smiles at the Accepted.

Aldwyn says 'I will talk to him about that as well, Councilor.'

Azareth clambers to his feet.

Azareth bows before Mariah.

Azareth beams a smile at Mariah.

Mariah rests her hands gently on the table, her bracelets clinking softly as they jostle one another.

Aldwyn whispers something to Azareth.

Melosa curtseys before Mariah

Aldwyn stands for Mariah Sedai as she excuses herself.

Azareth says 'The relationship between our two lands has withstood all the time between Artur Hawking and the people present today.'

Azareth beams a smile at Mariah.

Mariah leaves east. >>

The carveddoor closes quietly.

Azareth says 'If these were statements made in private conversation, I would say it is important to allow people to have their opinions.'

Azareth says 'However, as statements made to the public at large, I cannot help but call into question whether the nature of our relationship has changed.'

Chloro says 'If I may to have it correct. '

Azareth tells you 'i think you were asking for a moment to type but i can't be sure, so imma sit here for a sec'

Azareth nods at you.

Azareth thinks hard.

Azareth nods to himself, he must need reassurance.

We also believe that its ability to govern within its own borders has gone unchallenged, and rightfully so.'

Azareth looks at you.

Aldwyn tells you 'not going to lie...kind of impressed with the amount of research he's done at the least'

Azareth looks at Annoura Larisen.

Azareth frowns.

Azareth says 'Aldwyn, do you see the Lady Annoura's dress?'

Chloro says 'I believe that is most agreeable. I will have Mariah Sedai briefed and she will be in touch. I to have cousins I do not consider amenable to breeding. '

Aldwyn looks at Annoura Larisen.
