With a heavy sigh, she began her journey to Tar Valon. She had exhausted all options and was desperate to learn more about her abilities. Her teachers in the north had vanished and she was left on her own. She had to improve, her limited abilities were not good enough and she wanted to be useful for the Shienarans. They had taken her in and welcomed her, as long as she did her part. She needed to do more and could no longer wait for the others to return. She had to go to Tar valon.

She smiled politely at the sergeant.

A soldier has arrived from the south.

The night has begun.

She nodded quickly to the patrolling soldier.

You say 'Can I share you fire? I am headed to Tar Valon and need to rest my horse.'

A Saldaean veteran has arrived from the west.

She took the lack of a response to mean yes. She was used to being ignored, they had more important things to focus on. She sat near the small fire and shivered in the snow. This close to Tar Valon, it should be safe for a larger fire, she thought to herself. She gazed at the few smoldering logs and began to think about what she had learned so far. She quickly pushed down all thoughts of helping, she had not learned enough yet and was afraid she would disturb her silent companions. She closed her eyes and slowly nodded off while shivering.

The sun casts its yellow light over the long road.

You say 'Thank you for letting me rest here.'

She left her silent companions behind and was off on the final leg of her journey.

You gasp.

It was her first time entering the city but no directions were needed. The White Tower stood out like a shining beacon amongst the city. She paused for a moment to collect her thoughts and rode to the tower square.

She smiled at the town crier.

You whisper to the Tar Valon town crier 'So now can you tell me? Do the Aes Sedai frequent this square?'

You get a wealth of gold crowns from a backpack.

You give him five crowns.

The gold crowns loosed the lips of the crier and he shared all the information she needed. He even gave her the names of the cleanest inns in the city and best places to stable her horse if needed. The flow of information and the amount of it made her think perhaps she gave him too many crowns. She cleared her head of the thought and settled in to wait.

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Had she really spent an entire day waiting? She rushed off to the inn the town crier recommended.

Soon she was shown to a cramped but clean room. She laid down on the straw bed and she struggled to sleep as thoughts swirled through her head. Her only experience with the Aes Sedai was the day her father was taken. They were so cold and indifferent to her that day. She began to wonder if they all acted that way or if they would remember her. She tried to push down these silly thoughts and fall asleep but the questions swirled through her head.

The day has begun.

It was morning already. She felt as though she barely slept and her stomach rumbled loudly reminding her she had not eaten dinner. She rushed off to find a quick breakfast so she could get back to the square and wait for an Aes Sedai.

She smiled at the sailor.

You say 'What news good sailor?'

The sailor paused briefly and quickly muttered about the Seanchan making the trade routes more treacherous. The Seanchan had captured a new crop of Damane and were beginning to commandeer ships, forcing all to swear the oaths or be cast into the sea. His ship had been fortunate as they stayed to the eastern rivers but those sailing westerly were at great risk. A loud bell clanged down at the docks and the sailor rushed off to his ship. Troubling news indeed she thought as she settled in to wait.

You say 'I may need to stay a bit longer than expected, do you offer longer term rates?'

You nod at him.

You give him twenty crowns.

The twenty crown rate was steep but fair and she was shown to a slightly larger room. As she lay on the bed, her thoughts drifted to her father. He was a merchant from Far Madding whose route ran through Murandy, Ghealdan, and Tarabon, ending in Tanchico. He spent very little time with her and her mother, only stopping at their inn when he was passing on his route. He would always bring her a trinket or bauble from the west. Sleep came quickly this evening as those fond fleeting memories brought her comfort.

The day has begun.

Reception of the Woman of Tanchico
[ obvious exits: D ]

Another wasted day she thought as she returned to her room. She struggled to find sleep as she continued to think about her father and the day everything changed. Their inn in Murandy was unusually busy, a group of women had ridden in late in the evening and paid a significant sum to stay the night. Her fathers wagon was due in the next day and for the first time they would be fully booked. She woke up early that morning to prepare breakfast and found the women sitting around the table. Something was odd about them but she could not place it. As she was serving breakfast, a large commotion could be heard outside signaling the arrive of her fathers wagons. The women ignored their breakfast and rose lightly touching each other’s wrists. She would never forget her fathers face as he walked through the door, first surprise, then anger, then shock, and finally defeat, all flashing across in a brief instance. They quickly lead him away before she could utter a sound. One walked over to her mother and exchanged a sack of coin for a basket of her trinket and baubles. She was furious, her father was taken away and her mother just sold her most prized possessions to these strange women.

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

The day has begun.

She remained in bed, exhausted after the sleepless night.

She left their inn in Murandy not long after that day. Sneaking into her mother’s room, stealing the coins that were hidden away, and using the cover of night to make her way to Lugard. She did not stay long for fear people would recognize her and moved east to Far Madding. She did not stay in that city for long, she felt a sense of loss and attributed it to missing her father. She headed north and east to the city of Cairhien but found that people did not speak plainly and thought every word as a ploy in the Game of Houses. She quickly left the city, not wanting to be caught up in this foolishness or be betrayed again. She moved north to Fal Dara where she found a place for herself.

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

The day was gone already, she rushed to the square to try a new tact. Try to catch an Aes Sedai returning to the Tower in the evening.

She resumed her familiar routine, silently nodding to the crier and taking up her place in the square. She reflected on her time in Fal Dara as she stood in the square and how she had to work her way into the daily life. Everything was geared towards the war against the Shadow. She spent most of her days helping the seamstress repair cloaks and clothing of the Shienaran soldiers but was often called to the Malkier Gate to help with the wounded. It was at the gate where her ability became apparent, and the soldiers were grateful. She began spending less time at the seamstress shop and more time aiding those wounded at the gate.

She returned to her room and found her self longing to be back in Fal Dara. She was growing impatient and wanted to return to help the city she called home. It was there she discovered what she was capable of and she needed formal training to better aid the effort against the Shadow. She had picked up bits and pieces from watching others like her but she did not have a true understanding of what she was doing. This became evident in a trolloc raid on the Fal Dara.

The square was abuzz with activity today, the town crier was shouting news of a mad jester. A large grouping had met in the square earlier and left the city for Maradon to seek out this jester. She wished she had arrived earlier as she was sure an Aes Sedai would have been watching the square carefully and observing the group.

The night has begun.

Another evening here she thought as she returned to bed. The accommodations were nice but soon she would be out of coin and unable to pay the extended rate. Soon she would have to find work in the city or return to Fal Dara. She struggled to find sleep as she thought of her failure in the raid.

She had taken her place at the Malkier Gate but noticed a larger number of soldiers standing at the ready. Trolloc war horns could be heard echoing from the dusty road and soon a large ram was battering down the gate. Trollocs flooded into the city and began slaughtering all they could find. She quickly fled back to the keep as trollocs poured into the city. She noticed several women standing their ground as shards of ice crashed into the trolloc lines. Quickly she understood and joined in, hurling ice chunks into the enemy lines. The trollocs were broken and retreated back to the winding road.

Caught up in the moment, she mounted a nearby horse and followed with the others in pursuit. The hasty pursuit was costly, a second fist of trollocs lead by a myyddraal waited for them on the winding road and soon their group was in a pitched battle.

Flames streaked out towards the trollocs as the other women burned through the early advances. She tried to use the same technique as before but the meager shards of ice quickly melted into oblivion. She could not conjure flame from air like the others and soon her position was overran. The last thing she remembered was her horse being pulled down by a trolloc catchpole.

She woke with a jolt. The memory of her failure felt too real and she vowed she would find an Aes Sedai to teach her.

You smile at him.

You say 'Greetings Illuminator'

You say 'Any interesting news to share?'

You say 'I have been sitting in this square for far too long and have not heard much news from the outside'

Plando says 'news'

Plando mulls over the thoughts in his head, one tumbling over another.

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Plando says 'I'd say the flowers are in bloom along the way to Cairhien.'

Plando says 'the path was safe, I just rode in this morning.'

Plando says 'the bees are returning, so that is a good sign, at least what Stela tells me.'

Plando nods at an ogier.

Plando grins evilly.

You say 'It would be nice to ride to Cairhien but I am afraid I will miss an Aes Sedai'

You say 'I fell asleep in the square the other evening and missed my chance'

You sigh.

The night has begun.

Plando says 'it's alright.'

Plando says 'I uhh.. I actually have some with me.'

Plando reaches into a charred saddlebag and produces a glass jar.

You peer closely at him, trying to figure him out.

Plando pops the latch of the top of the glass jar and produces a handful of spring flowers.

You fall down laughing.

The sweet aroma of spring time flows about the square

The corpse of a crow has decayed into a pile of dust.

You say 'Oh I thought you meant you had an Aes Sedai with you'

Your cheeks are burning.

You smile happily.

Plando hands you a bouquet of spring flowers.

Plando says 'best I can do chuckle.'

Plando says 'oh.. one more things..'

Plando produces two slim glass vials of yellow from inside his sleeves.

She gazed thoughtfully at the flowers, pausing a moment to take in their smell.

The corpse of a rat has decayed into a pile of dust.

You say 'They certainly smell nicer than those rat corpses'

Plando spikes the two vials into the cobblestone floor below.

Fizzling yellow orbs of light come to life and sprint about the floor

You gasp in astonishment.

Clap, clap, clap.

Popping and spitting sparks and bouncing all about your feet

You say 'An amazing trick, how do you do it?'

Plando chuckles beneath an old white mustache.

Each fizzling orb bursts into a tiny plume of yellow smoke and disappears

Plando says 'Illuminators have their secrets, the guild is built on them.'

Plando chuckles beneath an old white mustache.

Plando folds into a deep bow.

Plando chuckles beneath an old white mustache.

Plando thanks you heartily.

Reception of the Woman of Tanchico
Here, many chairs and tables are arranged in a waiting area. People
going to and from their rooms can be seen passing by. Far off, others
stream down along the several hallways of the inn. Room doors line

The illuminator show offered a nice respite from the monotony of waiting in the square. However, the days and months were starting to add up and she felt as though her time away from Fal Dara had been far too long. She decided it was time to be more aggressive in her approach and seek out the Aes Sedai.
