****************************************************

After a bit of time of imprisonment, the Compulsed guard Medyr finally gets examined by the Yellow Ajah, in company of the Brown. Various aspects of his condition and options of treatment get discussed, even though only arrival of Jenda moves the company to establishing a clear plan. The opportunity is also used for a bit of interrogation and darkfriend Gevarha finaly cooperates, for the first time. Not without convincing through less gentle methods though.

Point of view: Callesa
Main participants: Kathala, Callesa, Jenda
Mobs: Gevarha, Medyr

.........
Kathala has arrived from the north.

Kathala's face gains a chin as she smiles.

You smile at her.

Kathala says 'Greetings, Sister.'

You say 'And to you, Sister.'

You say 'How have you been?'

Kathala says 'Quite well, thank you.'

Kathala says 'And you? I have heard about you capturing the darkfriend.'

You nod in agreement.

You say 'Indeed, after months of investigation and preparations, I captured her.'

You say 'But there is a lot to be done still.'

Kathala nods in agreement.

You say 'Preparation of her trial, her interrogations...'

You say 'She can tell us much.'

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

You say 'Sister, would you happen to have experience with healing Compulsion? '

You say 'I spoke to Jenda about an issue, but her and I seem to miss each other in the Tower.'

Callesa frowns.

Kathala says 'I do not, I have never come across anyone so afflicted.'

You beckon Kathala to follow you.

You say 'Then I'll introduce the patient to you, if you have a moment.'

Kathala starts following you.

---walking---

Corridor Outside the Open Cells
Cut from the rock that forms the very foundation of the island of Tar
Valon, the cells' walls and floor consist of roughly chiselled stone. Bars
embedded into the floor and ceiling form a number of cells, each equipped
with a small cot, a chair, wash basin and a chamber pot. A small bench sits
against the wall in the corridor, a place for any Aes Sedai holding weaves
on the prisoner to sit while they are on guard duty. Plain oil lamps hang
from hooks to illuminate the area when it is in use.

Door south: celldoor
Staring with blank eyes, Medyr stands here.
Hands bound, Lady Gevarha stands here, fuming.
Kathala has arrived from above.

You nod in agreement.

Medyr frowns.

Kathala glances at Medyr.

Kathala looks at Medyr.

You say 'Medyr worked as a guard in her mansion'

You feel the flows of saidar coursing through your body.

Your flows of Air dry Lady Gevarha's mouth, muting her.

Kathala says 'He is rather unkempt.'

Kathala says 'Can she not undo the Compulsion?'

Kathala gestures towards the prisoner.

Medyr says '"I beg you, Aes Sedai, punish me, but not my Lady"'

You shake your head.

You say 'We are not even sure whether she cast it. She is not strong enough without an angreal, and
we are surely not giving her one.'

Kathala smirks.

Kathala nods at you.

You say 'It may have also been weaved by her master, Asmodean'

Kathala's eyes widen.

Kathala says 'Light preserve us.'

Kathala says 'Can women even sense such a thing placed on a person?'

You say 'Medyr, you've been locked here for weeks, would you be able to take a walk with us?'

Medyr stands protectively between Gevarha and the Aes Sedai

Medyr shakes his head.

Kathala purses her lips momentarily.

Kathala says 'Hello Medyr'

You say 'I don't know, Kathala. I've consulted the Reds, but they seem to not have much of
experience with trying to sense or undo weaves of Saidin, their interests lie elsewhere.'

Kathala nods at you.

Medyr keeps his mouth shut.

Kathala gingerly takes a step forward.

Medyr waits for a right moment and takes a leap towards Kathala, trying to grab her

You are already in touch with saidar, can't you feel it?

Callesa channels flows of Air quckly and ties Medyr.

Kathala embraces Saidar and slams a shield of Air in front of her.

You nod in agreement.

Kathala says 'If we are going to work on him, WITH him, he will have to be restrained.'

You nod at her.

Kathala says 'It is almost a shame Compulsion is a forbidden weave, we are now stumbling around
blind, in the dark.'

You say 'Or perhaps Gevarha will cooperate and at least give us some pieces of information. But so
far, Silencing her while trying to communicate with Medyr has been more useful.'

Kathala nods in agreement.

You say 'I wouldn't go so far to regret it being forbidden, but I still think there should be some
exception for research, or at least more care to recover any piece of information about the weave.
We've lost so much over the centuries.'

Kathala says 'Heavily monitored, of course. With witnesses.'

Kathala says 'I wonder if she can will him to answer or act a certain way, if she were the one to
cast it.'

Kathala nods at you.

You say 'If she was not the one casting the weave, she can still be his designated master, to be
obeyed.'

Kathala says 'Perhaps, yes.'

You say 'The ethics of research of such a weave are too harsh to even consider. I cannot imagine a
volunteer for such experiments. And I wouldn't wish it for the worst enemy either.'

You say 'But as a result, we know very little, you are absolutely right.'

Kathala says 'That is why it would have to be a panel to witness and set boundaries.'

Kathala says 'Cumbersome, but absolutely necessary.'

You say 'And I wonder, whether we won't pay for our ignorance. With all the darkfriends and
dreadlords around. And with the Seanchan. After all, their a'dam look not that different.'

You nod at her.

Kathala nods at you.

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

Kathala says 'Do we know of any Sisters who have bonded their warders with the obedience tied in?'

Callesa shivers.

Kathala says 'It is not customary, for good reason, but it may be a start...'

You say 'I personally don't, but I must admit I am not too experienced with the bond.'

Kathala says 'Neither am I and Light knows I'm not sure Ominas can even be made to obey with a weave.'

Kathala looks amused.

You say 'Or do you have anyone, who has worked with a freed damane? There have been a few such cases
after all. Perhaps someone, who has been healing their minds?'

Kathala says 'I myself have not done any such thing and am not aware of any of the other Yellows'
activities in that area.'

You say 'I still count on Jenda. If I am not mistaken, she is one of the Yellows, who are the most
interested in the illnesses of a mind and brain.'

Kathala nods in agreement.

You say 'Well, one of the options is also waiting for the trial, which might end the weave, if
Gevarha is behind it.'

Callesa glances at the darkfriend, suddenly showing a tiny piece of fear in her eyes.

You say 'But who knows, whether termination of the weave by death or stilling of the channeler will
free Medyr, or kill him?'

Kathala says 'I was wondering that.'

Kathala says 'It is a rather big risk to take.'

You nod in agreement.

You say 'I've tried to Delve him, but my skills are limited. Despite a lot of time spent with the
Yellows back as an Accepted, I am still far from your level.'

You sigh.

Kathala chuckles politely.

Kathala says 'I was going to attempt that before he lunged at me.'

Kathala tugs her shawl into place.

You say 'I sensed something, I think, but I cannot be sure. I couldn't identify it, I couldn't grab
it, I couldn't properly fell it.'

You say 'It felt weird, but I couldn't pinpoint it.'

You say 'Well, he is still tied, Sister, if you wish to try.'

Kathala sets her jaw stubbornly 'We'd better not need those Light forsaken Dragonsworn to remove
this.'

You nod at her.

Kathala steps forward carefully and holds up a hand to the height of Medyr's head.

You sense Kathala connecting to the True Source.

Kathala channels flows of Spirit into Medyr's head, probing.

Kathala frowns.

You say 'I wouldn't trust them with this either. And I am not sure what scares me more. Them doing
something totally different in their madness, or perhaps them being far too knowledgeable about the
issue. After all, some smaller forms of Compulsion have been rediscovered by Wilders. Sheriam gets
it out of them, but if a future novice can reinvent this, perhaps the mad men can too.'

Kathala smirks in distaste at the prospect.

Callesa observes the Delving curiously.

Kathala directs the flows into Medyr, moving them inch by inc.

Kathala says 'Does this... did what you feel almost seem like... a net to you? Or a spider?'

You nod in agreement.

Kathala says 'As if something has branched out into parts of his brain.'

Kathala lowers her hand and releases the Source.

You say 'Yes, a net is probably what I felt. It was sort of everywhere, but it was nowhere strong
enough for me to get a better hold of it.'

Kathala makes a face, disgustedly.

Kathala says 'This is vile.'

Kathala says 'I almost think if one were to use this weave in a certain way, Medyr would never be
compelled to eat again.'

You say 'And due to inexperience with this weave, I cannot even say whether it is Saidar or Saidin,
the threads are very thin. It could have even been inverted.'

Kathala says 'Which might explain his umkempt look.'

Kathala nods at you.

You say 'He was offered refreshments and a better cell. But he refuses anything but bare minimum for
survival and doesn't want to leave the Darkfriend.'

Kathala grunts irritably.

Kathala says 'This is uncharted territory for us, unfortunately.'

You nod in agreement.

You say 'And we'd better chart quickly, before we lose any choice in how to approach this challenge.'

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

Kathala says 'Perhaps Jenda has more experience here.'

You nod in agreement.

Kathala smiles slightly 'It is almost fortunate that I have more experience with slashed muscles and
skin.'

You say 'I hope she does. I am slowly abandoning my idea of finding a Red, who would also be skilled
in Delving and perhaps capable of at least orienting us, whether it is Saidin or not.'

You nod at her.

Kathala nods at you.

You say 'Your skills in those areas are well known and valued, Sister.'

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

You say 'I wonder, didn't Cadsuane have a ter'angreal capable of detecting Saidin?'

You say 'Do you think it could work on a tied weave, even if Saidin is not being channeled at the
moment?'

Kathala says 'How would the ter'angreal get close enough to sense what has been woven?'

Kathala ponders life, the universe, and everything.

You say 'That's the least difficult part. If I'd manage to get my hands on such a ter'angreal, I
could bring it. I wouldn't risk the same with an angreal, but a ter'angreal with this function would
pose no danger.'

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

Kathala says 'Taking him into a Stedding did not work either, I assume? Or near Far Madding's
Guardian?'

You say 'I am just thinking about that option too, Sister.'

You ponder life, the universe, and everything.

You say 'It may be worth trying, even though I am not sure whether any weave just dissipates
immediately there, or whether we just cannot touch Saidar and weave new ones. But it could be worth
a try.'

Kathala nods at you.

Kathala says 'I do not know the details either, and given the surrounds they are hard to unravel.'

You say 'I think our newest Sister, Lexica, has spent some time researching Far Madding and some of
the aspects of the Guardian. Perhaps she'll know more or have some useful contacts in the city. I
don't feel like just going there with him, as he is, unarmed and without Saidar.'

Kathala says 'Interesting.'

You say 'But for now, I think we should explore all the paths available to us without leaving the
safety of the White Tower.'

Kathala says 'Yes, that seems wise.'

You whisper to Kathala 'We owe it to Medyr. He had been my Eyes and ears, he had saved me once.'

Kathala says 'Even if we managed to separate him from the darkfriend, if he were to escape he might
end up in dire straits.'

You nod in agreement.

You say 'True, Sister. So far, he has refused to leave her even for much less, then half the continent.'

Kathala nods in agreement.

You say 'But I have some new ideas on paths to explore. Thank you, Sister. Thank you for examining
him with me. And let's hope we find a solution.'

Kathala says 'The poor man, he has literally lost his mind.'

Kathala turns to one of the guards and motions him. 'Can you please send for Jenda Sedai?'

Jenda has arrived from above.

You say 'Thank you for joining us, Sister'

Medyr shivers at the sight of three Aes Sedai in front of him

Jenda glances around and sniffs. 'I was .. summoned. Typically I do the summoning. What is going on,
Sisters?'

Jenda looks at Medyr.

You say 'I wanted to introduce to you the patient we've been talking about. So far only briefly.'

Callesa quickly Deafens and Blinds Gevarha

Jenda nods slowly, 'Patient, eh? What are his ills?"

Jenda says 'Hers.. '

Jenda arches an eyebrow.

You say 'Compulsion, Sister.'

You say 'Hers are worse, but they are for the Blues to take care of.'

You sigh.

You say 'He was Compulsed.'

You say 'She is not Compulsed, Jenda. She acted of her own will.'

Kathala says 'I Delved him, it feels like a net of sorts is branching out into parts of the man's
brain. Or a spider with legs, if you will.'

Jenda nods in agreement.

Jenda says 'How deep does it go, Kathala? I know you must have Delved her already. and a danger to
herself and others, evident by your restraints. '

Jenda nods in agreement.

Jenda says 'Saidin or Saidar? '

Kathala says 'I cannot even tell. It is so faint.'

You say 'He had been serving the Light until this happened.'

Kathala says 'It's like trying to grab onto a soap covered pig.'

Jenda says 'Alright. What did they do? '

Jenda looks at Lady Gevarha.

Jenda smirks a slight grin at the country reference.

You say 'She will face trial for the crimes of being a Darkfriend, smuggling angreal and ter'angreal
, abducting an Aes Sedai, and perhaps a few more crimes.'

Kathala tugs at her shawl.

Jenda's lip curls in a sneer as she eyes the bound woman up and down.

You say 'We have some witnesses of suspicious disappearances around her mansion, such as a few tax
collectors, or two girls who were supposed to leave for the White Tower'

You say 'And while we were discussing the issue quite at length with Kathala, I forgot to mention
that Medyr is also one of the witnesses for some of the crimes.'

Jenda says 'If I did not stand on precarious ground already with the Blues, I would cut her throat right now. '

Kathala chuckles politely.

Kathala says 'The Blues too, Sister?'

Callesa smiles slightly for a moment.

Jenda shrugs nonchalantly at Kathala, yet her mouth tugs into a frown.

Kathala says 'Light. That is a conundrum.'

Callesa checks her tied weaves on Gevarha.

You say 'Medyr had saved me and acted as my eyes and ears. Until the sudden change in his behaviour.'

Jenda says 'I would suggest beginning by separating these two. Any questions we ask the woman will
store in her ammunition shed. '

You say 'At first, he didn't react so much to being far away from her. '

Kathala says 'I was saying earlier that if the Compulsion was even worse, the man possibly wouldn't
even eat. Look at his unkempt appearance. He is far gone.'

Jenda tilts her head in question.

Jenda looks at Medyr.

Jenda leans over and peers into the man's eyes, one at a time. Tilts his face side to side.

Kathala embraces the Source, ready to restrain him, in case he lunges again.

Jenda says 'So you say he reacts to being away from this woman? '

Medyr tries to move away but the flows of Air still hold him.

You nod in agreement.

Jenda says 'Then we can deduce that she is the one who holds onto his mind, no? '

You say 'At first, he was just over zealous with his duties, lied to me, and behaved weirdly at home. '

Jenda frowns.

You say 'But it grew worse. And after the arrest of Gevarha, he's been trying to protect her by
constant presence, words, or actions.'

Jenda says 'Could this compulsion be a form of .. bond? '

Medyr says 'Just let her go, Aes Sedai. Like I let you go. It was clearly a mistake, but you could
show some mercy in return.'

Jenda says 'Weak, as Kathala mentioned. So she is not trained in the Weave properly, perhaps. '

Kathala says 'I was wondering if it was like the bond, with the added obedience tweak.'

Kathala smirks at that.

You say 'I don't know, Sister. But we cannot be sure whether she weaved it, or her master Asmodean did.'

Jenda says 'There is no mercy for servants of the dark, young master. If there is any of you left
within.. resist. '

Jenda says 'How do you know which of the Foresaken this scum serves? '

Jenda tilts her head in question.

You say 'And if it was a form of bond, it would probably be bilateral in some way, no? I highly
doubt the Darkfriend would let him or his state affect her.'

You say 'Because I saw him in her mansion right before her arrest.'

You say 'I don't think the Bond was known in the Age of Legends, we have no mentions of it in any
sources. '

Jenda says 'oh. dear.. '

Jenda says 'Well. Hurt her and see if he flinches. '

You nod in agreement.

You are already in touch with saidar, can't you feel it?

Jenda casually draws her dagger with an impassive face and arches a brow.

You say 'Wait, we need to get rid of one variable affecting the test'

Jenda nods in agreement.

Medyr has been blinded!

You say 'You can proceed, Sister.'

Jenda says 'Good thinking, Sister. '

Jenda walks around behind the woman so she cannot see and reaches around to pull the dagger along
her throat, not slicing but to induce fear. Right before a sharp, swift jab to the meat of her
shoulder.

Callesa frowns as Gevarha flinches in pain, the Silence weave preventing her from screaming

Medyr stands by, unaffected.

Jenda says 'Not a bond sort of compulsion then. '

Kathala purses her lips thoughtfully.

You nod in agreement.

Kathala says 'Only one trained like a warder would not flinch at that.'

Jenda keeps a solemn face but for a slight glint of something in her eyes.

Jenda nods at Kathala.

You weave soft green flows of Spirit through his eyes.

Jenda cleans her blade off on the woman's sleeve and sheaths it.

Kathala says 'Any other experiments, or should I Heal the... -her-.'

You say 'No, Medyr has had a standard training of a guard, he had served during the Aiel war, like
most Cairhienin of his age. But nothing like Warder training.'

Jenda shrugs helplessly.

You say 'I think we've found out enough. However, I think we should use this opportunity for one thing...'

Callesa releases all the weaves on Gevarha

Jenda says 'I have had my own.. training with the Hand of the Light. Their methods seem effective. '

Lady Gevarha glances from one aes sedai to another, and to the third one

Jenda tells you 'do you want us yellows to handle removing the compulsion? i don't want to take this
in a direction yo'ure not anticipating. suggested to Kat we would link and explore together. '

Jenda glares at Lady Gevarha.

You tell Jenda 'i would like us to do this together. link is a great idea. we can think, prepare,
and meet for the healing'

Lady Gevarha bleeds from her wound.

Jenda tells you 'yes together of course. but I want to be sure how much you want us to remove it and
how much you want to be the hero :) '

Kathala says 'I will Heal her. She will have to be in good health for what is to come.'

Kathala says that in an ominous tone of voice.

You say 'Former novice, is there anything new, you would like to tell us? So far, you haven't been
too eager to cooperate.'

You sense Kathala connecting to the True Source.

Jenda says 'It is nothing more than a flesh wound. No pipes were broken. '

You sense Kathala is channeling saidar.

Kathala leans closer to Lady Gevarha, who now appears to be feeling better.

Kathala smirks.

Kathala says 'The things we do for justice...'

Jenda smirks, "I'll give her justice..."

Lady Gevarha says 'My Master will find me. You are nothing compared to him.'

You sigh.

You say 'Girl, your master has abandoned you. Look around.'

Jenda says 'How does that eternal life look to you now?'

You say 'It's just us and you. And Jenda Sedai hasn't even started properly yet, from what it seems.'

Lady Gevarha shivers uncomfortably.

Jenda looks at Lady Gevarha.

Jenda says 'As a surgeon..I am not known for my compassion. especially for your kind. '

You say 'It doesn't have to be all suffering. Cooperate.'

Callesa glances from Jenda on the darkfriend and back

Lady Gevarha sniffs sadly.

Jenda narrows her tilted brown eyes in thought.

You say 'Nobody is looking for you. And if they are, they will kill you anyways. '

Jenda says 'The nervous system.. it is a conduit of spirit. You could make a corpse dance with the
right amount of fire and spirit. '

Kathala suggests 'Perhaps we can break her by diminishing her control and releasing Medyr here from
the Compulsion.'

You sense Jenda connecting to the True Source.

You nod at her.

You say 'I've heard various good ideas. What do you think, Gevarha? '

Lady Gevarha says 'You are forgetting I am still a Cairhienin noble. I demand to speak with the
ambassador and send a message to my King.'

Lady Gevarha smiles proudly for a moment.

Callesa shakes her head.

Jenda says 'We have Aes Sedai whispering in both ears of your king, foolish child. '

Kathala scoffs at that.

You nod at Jenda.

Jenda says 'Shall I make her dance, Sisters or will the girl reveal who holds the weaves of
compulsion? '

You say 'And the rest of the nobles is already dividing your lands and businesses.'

Jenda smirks.

You say 'We need that piece of information, Sister. Gevarha, last chance. Answer the question. Who
used Compulsion on Medyr?'

Jenda says 'Imagine the shame when your family learns of your Darkfriend status. '

Lady Gevarha falls down as her legs can no longer carry her, trembling in fear.

Kathala gives a small nod.

Jenda says 'Cowards like the rats they whisper to... '

Lady Gevarha says 'It was my Master, he made Medyr obedient again, and my loyal protector. '

Lady Gevarha says 'It is all your fault. If you hadn't corrupted him, nothing would have happened to
him.'

You slap Lady Gevarha.

Jenda tsks, gathering her shawl about her shoulders and gives a tug at her hair.

You say 'I think we've heard what we needed today, Sisters.'

Jenda nods at you.

Kathala turns to Medyr and pats his arm, restrains of Air and all.

You say 'Thank you for getting involved. I hope we'll find a way to help Medyr. '

Jenda says 'Now the question of whether to attempt removing these claws from his mind. '

Kathala says 'We will get you right again, Medyr.'

You say 'And you, foolish child, I hope you'll remember the lesson and keep answering questions.'

Jenda says 'It is a delicate procedure Not done in my time in the White Tower. '

You nod at her.

Jenda narrows her tilted brown eyes in thought.

You say 'We should prepare carefully.'

Kathala says 'We may have to consult some books before we even attempt it.'

You nod at her.

Jenda nods at Kathala.

You say 'I've gathered most of what has been in the Library. I'll have it sent to you. But perhaps
you'll find some works I hadn't thought of.'

Kathala nods in agreement.

Jenda says 'It may take hours of careful delving and in theory... picking with Saidar. '

Kathala nods in agreement.

You nod in agreement.

Jenda says 'But afterall. It is not brain surgery.

Jenda smirks.

Kathala says 'We will probably have to link, in order to prevent the one weaving from getting
exhausted.'

Jenda nods at Kathala.

Jenda says 'Delve and pick. delve and pick. '

You say 'He'll need to be restrained during the procedure.'

Kathala says 'Of course, one slip and...'

You nod at her.

* HP:Healthy SP:Strong MV:Fresh >

Jenda shrugs helplessly.

Jenda says 'One life lost against those thousands and thousands that are harmed through their dark
ways. '

Jenda says 'Triage. '

You say 'This is still an innocent life, Sister. He had saved me, and I don't forget it easily.'

Jenda says 'Do not get too sentimental, Sister. Who knows what he knows through his proximity to
these Darkfriends. If left effected he is as bad as having sworn himself. '

Jenda says 'So he will be healed or die. '

Kathala says 'If any life should be lost, it should be hers. Any deeds this man did in name of the
Shadow were when he was not in his right mind.'

You nod at Kathala.

Jenda says 'I warn you.. Asmodean's hold on this man is unfathomable. '

You say 'I don't believe in any third option either, Jenda. But the White Tower has an obligation to
put any effort in trying this.'

You say 'Not only for him.'

You say 'And not only because it is the right thing to do.'

You say 'But we were discussing the lack of knowledge on the Compulsion and its healing with Kathala
. This is a unique, hopefully, opportunity.'

Kathala says 'Light send this remains unique.'

Jenda says 'Any effort I am capable of, sister.. Light help that we're successful. '

You nod in agreement.

Kathala tugs at her shawl, raising it above her shoulders as a way of comfort.

You say 'Thank you Sisters.'

You say 'I think we'll leave the prisoners to rest and think about their choices.'

You peer closely at Gevarha, trying to figure her out.

Jenda now follows Kathala.

Kathala nods in agreement.

Kathala has arrived from below.
Jenda has arrived from below.

Jenda says 'I still maintain they should be separated. '

You nod in agreement.

You say 'Noted, Sister. I'll try to arrange separate cells next to each other, for start.'
