----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Avharin Market
With one arm pointing north in the direction of Caemlyn, a massive marble
statue of a fur-robed woman over two spans high stands proudly here in the
middle of the Strangers' Market as a constant reminder to Far Madding of
the dangers of foreigners. The square is lined with the large slate roofed
buildings of wealthy establishments, and is intersected by a wide tree
lined boulevard stretching north and south.
[ obvious exits: N E S W ]
A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
Some elaborate figurines spew fresh water into a broad basin here.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
The Far Madding town crier stands here, spreading the news.

Balour has arrived from the west, riding a Domani razor.

Balour stops riding a Domani razor.

Balour bows before you.

Annalyn has arrived from the north, riding a gray palfrey.

nod balour
You nod at him.

Balour says 'Hello Mistress Wisdom.'

Annalyn looks at Balour.

smile annalyn
You smile at her.

Racquel says 'Hello Sister.

Balour says 'And non-mistress wisdom.'

Annalyn says 'Hello!'

Annalyn says 'I hear this one has bad manners.'

arch
You arch an eyebrow.

Annalyn shoves her thumb in Balour's direction.

Balour blinks his eyes innocently.

Balour says 'Never towards a woman, ma'a.'

Racquel says 'Well. I suppose that is to be expected.

Annalyn says 'He is a man, after all.'

Balour says 'I have had some ill intended run ins with some shop owners though.'

Racquel says 'Bad manners towards who, then?

glare balour
You glare icily at him.

Annalyn says 'Unintended?'

Balour says 'I am more of a scoundrel I suppose.'

Annalyn smirks.

Balour shakes his head.

Racquel says 'You take me for some delicate flower who doesn't -deserve- bad manners?

Balour says 'I will be honest about what I did.'

Balour says 'I stabbed and killed the merchants in Jehannah.'

Annalyn says 'Seems pretty intended to me.'

Racquel narrows her eyes.

Racquel says 'Were they women?

Balour says 'It was my intention to stop the requisition of supplies to the Dragonsworn.'

Annalyn says 'Unless you tripped and fell and your dagger found its way into their backs.'

Balour shakes his head slowly.

Racquel murmurs 'That's the excuse Vhalerie gave me about the stableboy. But it wasn't a dagger or her back.'

mutter
You mutter in disgust.

Annalyn splutters.

Racquel says 'Now.

Racquel says 'Were these merchants women, good Sir?

frown balour
What's bothering you?

Balour says 'No I think you not delicate to not deserve bad manners, I'd just rather not have my head thumped by a wooden spoon.'

Racquel steps in close.

Balour says 'I honestly did not take the time to see if they were male or female.'

Annalyn puts the rolling pin behind her back.

Balour says 'I seen the threat they posed to the world by supporting the misguided Dragonsworn.'

Racquel whispers softly 'I don't use a spoon, Sir.'

Balour looks at Racquel cautiously.

Racquel runs a long fingernail down your cheek.

smirk
You smirk.

Racquel whispers 'Do you like this color on me?'

Balour looks at you.

Annalyn looks at you.

Racquel says 'The nails, boy.

Balour says 'I am very confused right now and my body is doing things that I should not disclose... Perhaps there is an herb for that.'

Balour coughs into a closed hand.

Racquel says 'Not the first to admit that weakness.

Annalyn pulls a tincture out of her pack, uncorks it, and shoves it under Balour's nose.

Racquel says 'Sometimes a herb will do. Sometimes...

Annalyn says 'This should help with'

Racquel pauses.

Racquel says 'A sharp knife.

Annalyn gestures vaguely in Balour's direction.

Annalyn says 'That.'

Balour's face contours as he sniffs the concoction.

Balour says 'Horrific.'

Balour says 'But working.'

Annalyn says 'One of my best, really.'

Racquel says 'So.

Racquel counts on her fingers.

Racquel says 'Bad manners.

Annalyn stoppers the tincture and shoves it back in her bag.

Racquel turns over a second finger.

Balour says 'I suppose not the most noble manners, aye.'

Racquel says 'Murderer.

Racquel turns over a third finger.

Balour says 'Aye, turning over a new leaf on that chapter in my life.'

Racquel says 'Doesn't like women.

Balour says 'No no no, happen to love women.'

Balour says 'And men.'

Balour says 'Just not sheep, I have some decency and was not raised like a Two Rivers shepherder.'

arch
You arch an eyebrow.

Balour says 'Need to have some standards, aye?'

Racquel says 'Donkey then?

Racquel tilts her head.

Racquel says 'You smell like one.

Balour says 'Well, I did happen to gain most of my attire from a bandit south of Lugard.'

Racquel turns over a fourth finger.

Racquel says 'Thief.

Annalyn says 'Rich of you to call another a bandit.'

Annalyn says 'But I guess like knows like.'

Balour says 'Well, it takes one to know one, and the murandian did have a reputation for such a thing.'

Annalyn looks at Balour.

l balour
Honey-yellow hair short and parted to the right crests this young man.
Sideburns hug his cheeks connected by a thick mustache. He has dull brown
eyes, that reflect an inward smile. He is lanky, yet strolls with a casual
swagger.

Balour is in excellent condition.

Balour is using:
<used as light a mirrored lantern
<held an oilstone
<worn on head a leather helmet
<worn around neck a thin, black chain
<worn about body a dark, hooded cloak
<slung on back an oilskin bag
<worn as shield a silver etched shield
<worn on legs a pair of thin leather leggings
<worn on feet a pair of heavy leather boots

Balour says 'It is not for me to judge buuuuut.... I did do any passerby's a curtesy.'

Racquel says 'Well. It seems we have quite the list of flaws to...

Balour feigns a toothy smile.

Racquel pauses 'Correct.'

smirk
You smirk.

Annalyn brings her rolling pin in front of her and gives it a look over.

Racquel holds up her hand.

Racquel says 'Violence won't be needed, I'm sure.

chuck
You chuckle politely.

Balour swallows his face takes on a tinge of a nervous quality.

Annalyn says 'Just thinking of doing some baking later.'

Annalyn says 'Maybe a pie.'

Annalyn says 'It's always useful to have a rolling pin about.'

Racquel says 'Good Sir. Pretend that my sister here is a merchant in Jehannah.

Balour says 'Aye, I'd certainly hope so, perhaps not leave it on a windowsill to cool though.'

Racquel says 'Perhaps you could show us how you have learned the error of your ways.

Racquel narrows her lips.

Annalyn whistles idly, doing merchant-like things.

Racquel says 'Say sorry.'

Balour says 'I will do you one better wisdom.'

Balour says 'I apologize.'

Annalyn says 'Rolling pins for sale! Get your rolling pins!'

Racquel says 'Not to me.

point annalyn
You point at her.

Racquel says 'The poor woman you killed.

Balour says 'The poor woman I killed?'

point annalyn
You point at her.

Racquel says 'The merchant lady in Jehannah.

Balour nods in agreement.

Racquel steps forward, cupping your cheek in her hand.

Racquel says 'And say it -nicely-.

Balour says 'I could have swore it was an armorer and a grocer, I do not have recolection of harming the merchant lady. Buuuut, let me think a moment, I will apologize indeed.'

Balour says 'The only merchants I remember harming were twelve merchant guards, and the only lady I have reccolection of harming is Orma. I accost Orma twice.'

Annalyn taps her foot, waiting for an apology.

Annalyn says 'I didn't realize we were her to do math.'

Balour says 'No no no, I will apologize to the merchants of Jehanna, promptly.'

Annalyn says 'Can't really apologize to them now that they're dead, can you?'

Annalyn crosses her arms.

Balour frowns, his eyebrows sink deeply.

point annalyn
You point at her.

Racquel says 'Tell her what you would say.'

Balour nods in agreement.

Balour looks at Annalyn, his eyes scanning up and down.

Balour gets down on both knees, looking up pleadingly.

Annalyn sighs heavily.

Annalyn says 'No need to be dramatic.'

Balour says 'I sincerely apologize for my actions, I have made many mistakes in this world, many things that I need to pay for, to atone for. Many families that I have taken good hardworking people from, I wish to change my ways, start a new, bring joy to the world actually, you know smiles merriment and the like.'

Annalyn says 'Well, my poor husband is dead.'

Annalyn says 'And you took out the whole caravan.'

Balour says 'If you could find it in the depths of your heart, to rain down mercy and forgiveness, through grace, I would greatly appreciate it.'

Annalyn says 'How am I supposed to live my life now?'

Racquel murmurs 'Probably wasn't YOUR husband...'

Annalyn says 'I have no way to earn money.'

Annalyn whispers 'Shhh! I'm playing a part!'

Balour says 'Is there any restitution that I could offer to bring you peace and ensure that you and your little ones are taken care of?'

Annalyn taps her chin.

Racquel mutters 'Marry her. She's not fussy.'

Annalyn says 'It's true.'

Balour cringes in terror!

Annalyn says 'I'm not.'

Balour says 'Marry?'

Annalyn says 'I think it's the only way.'

Balour says 'Uh... *cough*'

Annalyn says 'I need a husband. The little one needs a father.'

Annalyn nods at you.

Balour looks around nervously.

Annalyn says 'It makes the most sense.'

Balour says 'Yes, uhm... I suppose you're right.'

Racquel says 'I can do that for you now.

Racquel says 'But first. You have other atonements to make.

Balour looks mildly suspicious with his smile.

Balour says 'Yes, other atonements indeed.'

Balour says 'Starting with Fal Dara. I have got a fade to kill.'

arch
You arch an eyebrow.

Racquel says 'We're not done here.

Balour says 'No no no, we're not no.'

Racquel gives a flat look.

point annalyn
You point at her.

Balour looks up, still on his knees.

Racquel says 'You mentioned you did not care for sheep the way a shepherd might.

Racquel says 'Caring for sheep is a very important task in any village.

point annalyn
You point at her.

Annalyn nods at you.

Racquel says 'She is the sheep.

smirk
You smirk.

Annalyn says 'Uh...'

Racquel says flatly 'Say sorry.

Annalyn baas.

Balour says 'I am sorry.'

Annalyn baas.

Balour says 'And I sincerely apologize.'

Racquel says 'Maybe pat her.

Annalyn says 'Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'

Annalyn shies away from Balour.

Annalyn says 'Baaaaa'

Balour looks at Racquel in askance, 'Pet her?'

Balour studies Annalyn curiously.

nod
You nod in agreement.

Balour slides from his knees to his feet in a smooth motion, suavely he approaches Annalyn.

Balour pats Annalyn on the head and says with a nervous smile, 'There... There.'

Annalyn thwaps Balour's hand with her rolling pin.

Balour says 'Mother of light!'

Balour winces painfully.

Racquel says 'Good.

Racquel says 'Now. To all women everywhere.

Racquel says 'Apologise.

Balour says 'Of course.'

Annalyn straightens her shirt annoyedly.

Balour narrates 'Attention, ladies and gentlemen of the light, ladies especially, looking to you ladies I am.'

Balour narrates 'I have been a scallywag, a blathering imbecile, I have accost innocent families and taken away the earnings of poor little bastards and their widowed mothers across the land.'

Balour narrates 'From the depths of my soul, under the light and for my hope of salvation and rebirth, I apologize.'

Annalyn says 'Not sure the kids are bastards...'

Annalyn crosses her arms again.

Balour says 'They are now.'

Annalyn says 'No, they're orphans, perhaps.'

Racquel says ' And lastly. The bandit.

Balour says 'Apologize for the bandit?'

point racquel
You point at yourself. Insinuating something?

Racquel says 'I am the bandit.

Racquel narrows her eyes.

Racquel says 'Make it good.

Annalyn breathes a sigh of relief.

Balour takes a deep breath, he brushes his cloak down.

smirk
You smirk.

Balour says 'Dearest Murandian bandit, and associates. I have accost you and taken clothing from you. I have left you destitute and naked and lying in a ditch.'

Balour says 'We are not too different, no we are not indeed.'

Racquel runs her hands down her sides.

Balour says 'I am slightly more of a man of the light than you of course, but regardless.'

Racquel says 'But I will be cold, and hungry.

Racquel turns the back of her hand against her forehead.

Racquel says 'I am alone and I will die.

Racquel closes her eyes.

Racquel murmurs softly 'Hold me.'

Annalyn looks from Racquel to Balour.

Balour approaches Racquel, watching her carefully for any signs of ill intent, he places an arm around her lower back and pulls her close to him.

Balour says 'My dear poor bandit, take warmth in my cloak.'

Racquel leans in, burying her face.

Balour says 'Your cloak... Our cloak.'

Racquel looks up.

Racquel narrows her eyes and lifts her hand to your face.

Racquel runs her sharpened nail the length of the ear to the cheek.

Balour flashes another full set of teeth his face slightly contoured in nervousness.

Balour says 'I apologize for my actions.'

Racquel murmurs softly 'And if we hear of you mistreating innocents again - women, sheep or otherwise - you will wish you learned this lesson only the once.'

Racquel pushes away.

Racquel says 'Do you have anything else you wish me to tell the Thiefbane on your behalf?

Balour says 'I tried to sum it all up in the missive that I sent to them.'

nod
You nod in agreement.

Racquel says 'Well, hopefully you have now learnt your lesson.

Racquel says 'I will need to find a room for the evening. And your have a fade to dispose of.

smile
You smile happily.

Balour says 'I have, I will no longer accost any of the aforementioned innocents again.'

Racquel says 'We shall see.

Annalyn says 'I'm sure if you do, this conversation will be much less pleasant.'

Racquel says 'Time for me to take my leave.

Balour says 'If it means her and her rolling pin, you can count on it.'

Annalyn looks over her rolling pin.

Balour bows before you.

Balour says 'Thank you Misstress Wisdom.... And Other wisdom.'

nod
You nod in agreement.

Racquel says 'Of course.
