Point of view: Kordin
Main characters: Kordin and Aiyhlo
Cairhien Intersection
A huge intersection cuts and divides the roads. To the east and west, road
and walkway lead deeper into the huge city, engulfing people and wagons
alike. To the south, the Sun Palace towers high into the sky, its immense
layers adding to its majesty. The cobblestone road is laid out with exact
angles to the roads that run to the east and west, and to the ramp that
lies to the south. A large banner with a map of the city has been posted.

A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.

A tatoo runs along this man's right arm, it appears to be a Boar,
Neatly cut brown hair is tied back, and his blue eyes seem to brighten his face.
A large con bearing the symbol of House Damodred is strapped to his back.

The night has begun.

A city lamplighter arrives, mumbling about some low-paying job.

A bare-chested commoner leaves west.

Aiyhlo bows before Kordin.

Kordin says 'I have received a missive, saying one called Aiyhlo of House Damodred is asking for a representative of the Guild. I assume that would be you?'

Kordin runs his left hand knuckles over his beard, then pinches his mustache with thumb and index knuckle. 'Hmm.'

Aiyhlo says 'You are correct that is I'

Kordin nods in agreement.

Aiyhlo says 'it is a pleasure top meet you Master Kordin'

Kordin says 'How may I be of service, young sir?'

Aiyhlo says 'I would like to pick your brain if you are willing to have a drink'

Aiyhlo stops riding a warhorse.

Aiyhlo starts leading a warhorse.
A warhorse now follows Aiyhlo.

Aiyhlo says 'on me of course'

Kordin nods at Aiyhlo.

Kordin now follows Aiyhlo.

"I'll poke your eye out, you stupid savage!" a little boy's voice rings out.

"You shouldn't have cut my tree, wetlander!" an even shriller voice shouts in reply.

"Break it up down there you two, or you will wake your baby sister!" a woman's voice implores.

**Walking to the tavern**

The Pig's Blanket
Tiled floors and carvings on the doors testify to the wealth of this small
eatery. Fine dishes are served at reasonable rates, and every table is
crowded at the meal times of the day and night. Good ale flows from taps in
the kitchen, and serving maids bustle about to fill orders. A small
platform sits in the middle of the room, a place for a musician to perform
for customers.

Aiyhlo buys a glass of spiced wine.
Mistress Dellah puts some coins in a soft leather pouch.

Mistress Dellah puts some coins in a soft leather pouch.

Aiyhlo gives you a glass of spiced wine.

Kordin grabs a glass of spiced wine.

Aiyhlo wanders over to a booth in the corner and takes a seat

A black cat has arrived from the south.

Kordin follows Aiyhlo to the booth and sits down.

Kordin says 'So, on which matter do you wish to, as you say, pick my brain?'

Aiyhlo says 'I am back from some travels, that have taken me far from home in Cairhien, so I am hoping to discuss my home if you are willing.'

A black cat sniffs the ground...

A black cat leaves south.

Aiyhlo says 'My experience with the illuminators has been always quite enjoyable, and they always know more than the Rising Sun anyway'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Kordin blinks his eyes innocently.

Aiyhlo says 'So how have the illuminators been recently?'

Kordin says 'This sounds quite like something to do with the Game of Houses....'

Kordin runs his left hand knuckles over his beard, then pinches his mustache with thumb and index knuckle. 'Hmm.'

Aiyhlo says 'it has been awhile since I have been involved in that Game and even when I was I was never very good at it. A little too blunt was my approach'

Kordin says 'As well as we can be in these trying times. Our numbers seem to have sparked a bit lately.'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Aiyhlo sips from his glass of wine

Kordin grins at Aiyhlo.

Kordin sips some wine.

Aiyhlo says 'Ah that is good, I always loved seeing the starbursts appear around the topless towers'

Kordin grins impishly.

Aiyhlo says 'Any festivals planned in the future?'

Kordin nods in agreement.

Aiyhlo says 'do tell!'

Kordin says 'Indeed. One for High Chasaline...'

Kordin says 'I was just in talks with Master Valan Luca about using his Menagerie'

A plainly dressed man has arrived from the south.

Kordin says 'We're fine tuning the details still...you know how those Glee can be'

Aiyhlo says 'ah yes, entertaining but finicky'

Kordin says 'One moment they're rational, the other you have a knife in the back, juggling balls in the face and they're cackling like madmen while running down the street naked.'

Aiyhlo says 'Yes, they have been interesting. This festival, I wonder where that might be so I can attend'

Kordin says 'It depends on where Master Luca decides to settle the Menagerie that day, but I am hoping it will be close to Cairhien'

A plainly dressed man leaves south.

Kordin says 'That would make travels easier for most people these days, I do believe'

Kordin sips some wine.

Aiyhlo says 'Ah, I may be long retired from the Charging Boars but if I could help say speak to Lord Barthanes regarding a possible place to rest your heads instead of the traveling from the Manor House I would be glad to'

Aiyhlo says 'Lord Barthanes still does occasionally meet with me'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Kordin ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Aiyhlo says 'unless you have somewhere else in mind?'

Aiyhlo says 'I do not want to presume of course'

Kordin says 'That would be very helpful indeed, and very kind of you....our Chapter House north of the city is a fine one, but it cannot accomodate the growing of the Guild...'

Aiyhlo smiles happily.

Aiyhlo nods to himself, he must need reassurance.

Kordin says 'And truth be told...in my old days, I do enjoy working in peace, far from the noise of younglings...'

Kordin mutters in disgust.

Kordin coughs loudly.

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Aiyhlo says 'I understand probably more than I should in my age'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Kordin grins evilly.

Kordin says 'Learn while younger...not that it makes old age easier...it's just less frustrating'

Kordin chuckles politely.

Aiyhlo says 'So this festival when were you hoping to have it?'

Aiyhlo nods in agreement.

Kordin says 'In a weeks time from now'

Aiyhlo says 'excellent, I will make sure to be available. Any chance I can have to enjoy a festival I am always for. '

Kordin grins evilly.

Kordin says 'Splendid! It is my first time organizing one, you know....'

Kordin sighs.

Kordin says 'I suppose it's never too late, but it is a lot of work for an old man...'

Aiyhlo says 'Ah really? well I can assist if that is helpful for you, a location to store your equipment might help correct?'
Kordin says 'I do hope everyone attending will enjoyit'

Kordin says 'Any help is more than welcome'

Kordin smiles happily.

Aiyhlo says 'How about this, I can pull a few strings and provide a location to store your equipment in the city, always a place to stay, I am sure I can get a barracks to be available. '

Kordin runs his left hand knuckles over his beard, then pinches his mustache with thumb and index knuckle. 'Hmm.'

Kordin says 'That would be excellet, however...'

Kordin says 'I know Cairhien well enough to know nothing comes without a price...'

Kordin says 'Now or later'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Kordin says 'So, as the Thiefbane say...what's the catch?'

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Aiyhlo says 'A small price, King Galldrian and Lord Damodred would like some glory for Cairhien and for it to be reflected. '

Kordin chuckles politely.

Kordin says 'My boy, when the King and Lord Damodred say something has a "small price" and it's simply for the glory of Cairhien...it means the price will be made known when they want to cash it in, and neither you or I are privy to know it now.'

Aiyhlo says 'How about an announcement, thanking them both and Cairhien for usage of the barracks?'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Kordin says 'But since the current situation demands it, I accept'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Aiyhlo says 'I am glad that could be made'

Kordin says 'Maybe by the time they decide to come knocking, I'll finally have my retirement'

Kordin winks suggestively.

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Aiyhlo says 'You and I both sir'

Kordin is just too cute.

Aiyhlo says 'I will make arrangements with my contacts to provide access and storage for your friends'

Kordin nods in agreement.

Kordin says 'The Guild thanks you for your help, young sir'

Aiyhlo drinks mulled wine from a glass of spiced wine.
You narrate 'The Guild of Illuminators would like to thank King Galldrian su Riatin Rie and Lord Damodred for their continuing support of the Guild, and for allowing our apprentices to rest within the cities barracks. Glory to Cairhien and the Keepers of the Night's Lights!'
