Meditation Chambers of the White Ajah
This large, elegant room shows nothing of the unemotional logic that is
characteristic of the White Ajah. Minature ivory carvings of an entire
family reside on the mantle over a gray stone fireplace. A small painting
of a young woman hangs from a hook above the ivory miniatures, and a well
made mahogany chair rests alongside a dark wooden desk. This hall is often
used by a White sister seeking to spend a few hours in quiet contemplation.
[ obvious exits: E ]
Nest Freemark Sedai, Elder Sister and Sitter of the White Ajah is standing here.
A Tower guard is here protecting the peace.
A warder stands here, ready for combat.
Jersella, maid of the Whites, is here organizing storage lockers.
Carlinya Sedai stands here, pale of skin and cold of manner as the white fringe on her shawl.

Jenda folds her hands on her skirts.

Nest stands near a stern oak chair staring coolly at Jenda.

Jenda tilts her head slightly, respectfully remaining silent untill bidden to speak.

Nest continues to follow Jenda's with a vague curiosity before finally nodding her head to signal conversation.

Nest Jenda's movements*

Jenda smiles, 'I would like to ask you about the White Ajah, Nest Sedai... '

Jenda says 'It is to fulfill a task from KAishia Sedia.'

**The Light knows how long ago....**

Jenda says 'She would like for me to be knowlagable about all Ajahs...'

Nest nods at Jenda.

Jenda says 'I chose the Yellow for my studie, and she advises me that Aes Sedai are never of only one Ajah.'

Nest says 'Am I to assume correctly, then, that you have no innate interest in the White Ajah other than to fulfill this quest?'

Jenda reaches to smooth her hair, but drops her hands to clasp them together at her waist.

Jenda says 'Not entirely, Aes Sedai. I do have an interest in what exactly and entirely each Ajah is concerned with...'

Jenda says 'I understand and Agree with Kaishia Sedia.'

Jenda says 'But from my own small understanding of your Ajah.. I can say I am not very profound in Logic and puzzles.'

Jenda's cheeks flush slightly.

Nest shakes her head.

Nest says 'Let us begin, then. What is this "small understanding" you claim to have?'

Jenda says 'What I think the White Ajah is concerned with is the study of Logic. Whether in arithmatic, or... '

Jenda parts her hands looking for words.

Nest tilts her head to the side, smooth hair cascading across her shoulder.

Jenda says 'Just the nature of Logic, I suppose.'

Jenda says 'I am curious, though, Aes Sedai.'

Jenda says 'I think that in the subject of Healing, learning about these things could greatly assist me in my studies.'

Nest stares intently into Jenda for a moment then nods curtly. "Yes, most techniques can be aided by a logical mind."

Jenda blinks away from Nest's gaze, and nods to herself.

Nest says 'Logic is only one medium for our Ajah's purposes, so to speak."'

Jenda tilts her head, curiously.

Jenda says 'What is the White Ajah purpose, Aes Sedai?'

Nest says 'The White Ajah examines freely all alternate the routes to truth. Some sisters prefer logic, others philosophy.'

Jenda furrows her brows looking slightly confounded.

Jenda says 'To... Truth, Sedai?'

Nest says 'It is an empty word in itself, I grant you.'

Jenda thinks really hard.

Jenda opens her mouth to ask a question... but frowns and thinks more to herself.

Nest says 'The concept of truth is frequently the aim of our studies and the object of our debates. In a sense, then, we are an Ajah continually reinventing itself.'

Jenda ponders, tapping a finger to her lips.

Jenda says 'This is all very vague, Aes Sedai.'

Jenda says 'Have you found out what Truth really is?'

Nest stares intently at seemingly nothing.

Nest says 'Have I or has my Ajah?'

Jenda says 'Either one, I suppose...'

Nest says 'I...'

Nest stares intently at seemingly nothing.

Jenda says 'I have a hard time grasping those more etheral things..'

Nest says 'I have not.'

Jenda ponders, tapping a finger to her lips.

Jenda says 'What does the Truth mean, then If you cannot find what it is?'

Nest says 'I am not certain whether my sisters have. I would hope that they would inform me.'

Jenda presses her lips together, appearing more then a bit confused.

Nest chuckles dryly to herself.

Nest says 'Truth is what the White Ajah seeks, child. I have told you that.'

Jenda says 'I know about the Truth as in... what is factual and what is false, I suppose.'

Jenda says 'I think I would need a definition of what the White Ajah means when they say 'truth.''

Nest says 'There is no common definition, as there is no common guideline for how a Sister of the White Ajah should conduct her search for it.'

Jenda says 'Oh...'

Jenda says 'May I ask.. Sedai...'

Jenda says 'How do you search for the Truth?'

Jenda says 'You specifically.'

Nest raises then lowers her head in a sharp nod, eyes showing thought.

Nest says 'I wait for it to come to me in a dream.'

Jenda's eye almost pop out of her head.

Jenda tilts her head, not sure if you're joking.

Jenda says 'Do you sleep alot, Aes Sedai?'

Nest widens her wildly for a moment at Jenda and smiles slightly. "Very rarely, indeed."

Nest widens her eyes* [sheesh]

Jenda stiffles a chuckle.

Nest says 'I am quite serious, child.'

Jenda says 'I am not quite sure I know what questions to ask. Only a proper question can get a the answer you are looking for, right?'

Jenda says 'But You are serious that you wait for it in a dream Aes Sedai?'

Nest says 'Do you question my Oaths, Jenda?'

Jenda's cheeks are burning.

Jenda says 'OF course not, Sedai!'

Jenda looks horrified and abashed at herself.

Jenda says 'I was only very surprised, and I spoke without thinking, Aes Sedai.'

Nest says 'You may keep asking questions if you believe you will find satisfaction in the answers.'

Jenda says 'What are the practical applications of the search for Truth?'

Jenda says 'And I mean... '

Jenda ponders, tapping a finger to her lips.

Jenda says 'Things I suppose we can see and touch. Actual results?'

Jenda winces at her words.

Jenda says 'I do not mean to be insulting... but I cannot think of a better way to put it.'

Nest bites her lower lip pensively.

The door is opened from the other side.

The door closes quietly.

Jenda cooly arches a brow.

Jenda turns around to look at the door.

Nest blinks her eyes mechanically for a moment, then says, "Tell me, what is the Dark One?"

Jenda says 'The Dark one...'

Jenda makes a sign against evil, 'He is the embodiment of all evil, Aes Sedai.

Jenda says 'the Opposite of the Creator, I suppose...'

Nest says 'Do you believe he has "actual results," as you put it?'

shiver
Jenda says 'Of course! He sends the Shadowspawn... he even touches the hearts of men to seduce them to his clutches.'

Brrrrrrrrr.

Nest nods in agreement.

Jenda says 'He even put the unfortunate taint on Saidin.'

frown
What's bothering you?

Nest says 'And how do we fight these?'

Jenda says 'We men and women fight those with swords and axes... with learning and keeping morals and good faith and character... some fight with superstition and violence against other men... Some fight the shadow by doing good deeds.'

Jenda shrugs slightly.

Jenda says 'I suppose any good works does fight the Shadow even if the person does not realize he does.'

Nest says 'But do any of these defeat the Dark One?'

Jenda frowns and shakes her head sadly.

Jenda says 'I was always taught that the only one who can is the Dragon at Tarmon Gai'don.'

Nest says 'Yes, that is the prophecy. But a prophecy is only words, as truth is only a word: neither have substance in and of themselves.'

Jenda thinks really hard.

Jenda nods in agreement.

Nest says 'Do you understand?'

Jenda shakes her head, looking almost astonished, 'I am afraid you lost me, Aes Sedai.'

Nest weakly shapes her lips into a subtle smile.

Nest says 'Good.'

Nest says 'I will give you an actual result, then, as you have been so patient.'

Jenda says 'About defeating the Dark One? Physical manifistaions of the White AJah's works?'

Jenda smiles slightly, looking sheepish.

Jenda says 'tHankyou, Sedai.'

Nest says 'The Children of Light are my example. They are a powerful physical presence, are they not?'

Jenda supresses a light shudder.

Jenda says 'They are indeed.'

Nest says 'Certainly, as they have been around for some time, they will surely be present at the Last Battle, correct?'

Jenda's lips twist as she grins, 'I suppose any soldier for the Light will be welcome, Aes Sedai.'

Jenda says 'But who can say?'

Nest says 'We'll assume it for this argument.''

Jenda nods in agreement.

Jenda says 'Alright.'

Nest says 'So, we have a powerful army likely to be at the Last Battle, where they'll likely have to battle alongside the White Tower.'

Nest says 'A problem arises, of course, in that they loathe us.'

Jenda nods slowly.

Nest says 'It is their philosophy.'

Nest says 'The White Ajah, then, as students of philosophy, are best equiped with the tools to convert them, so to speak. To persuade them to cooperate with the White Tower when it becomes necessary.'

Jenda ponders, tapping a finger to her lips.

Jenda says 'That is much like the Gray Ajah, yes? In this specific example.'

Jenda says 'May I ask.. How would one use logic against something so illogical as superstion and dogma?'

Jenda stares at the sky.

Jenda says 'Superstition, Sedai.'

Jenda's cheeks are burning.

Jenda says 'I wonder.. Has the White Ajah begun already? With the Whitecloaks i mean.'

Nest says 'Logic is not our only tool, as I've said. Superstition and dogma too are methods of seeking truth, however primitive.'

Jenda tilts her head in wonder.

Jenda says 'Hrm.'

Jenda says 'This is where I get confused... Something that is the 'truth' for one, would not be the truth for another!'

Jenda shakes her head to herself.

Jenda says 'So is the Truth subjective?'

Nest nods in agreement.

Nest says 'Truth is largely relative.'

Jenda places her fingertips to her forehead and winces.

The door is opened from the other side.

The door closes quietly.

Jenda blinks her eyes innocently.

Nest says 'The Children of Light believe in the stability of their truths. That is their strength, but it also our advantage.'

Jenda reply to Yina 'we miss your rockin-ness!'

Jenda ponders, tapping a finger to her lips.

Jenda says 'It is?'

Nest says 'Yes.'

Jenda nods slowly.

The door is opened from the other side.

Jenda turns to the door.

Nest says 'You may go now, child. Reflect on my words.'

Jenda blinks for a moment, before offering a gracious curtsey.

Jenda says 'Aes Sedai.. you've given me weeks of things to reflect on!'

Jenda smiles happily.

Nest nods at Jenda.

Jenda says 'Thankyou'
