A Quiet House
This is a neat and well arranged house set in the middle of the city.
house is well furnished, and the room is centered on a large table. A
couch and several chairs surround the table. Bookshelves are full with various
tomes. The door lies to the south.
[ obvious exits: N S W ]
Mistress Raya Setaravni is standing here.
Beathas Navinen, the Wisdom of Whitebridge stands at the ready.

Raya comforts Kael.

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Kael stumbles in, a dazed look in his eye.

Raya rushes to Kael's side, trying to help him up.

Raya curses loudly 'Creator's Cuticles!'

Kael 's hair is in disarray, his clothes look slept in, and he has a harried look about him.

Raya says 'You alright dear? Here, have a seat.'

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Kael says slowly, "Hello Wisdom.."

Kael sits down.

Raya opens the windows to let the air in.

Raya comforts Kael.

Raya gets a glass of water hurriedly from the sink then sets it on the table beside Kael.

Kael looks around with blank eyes.

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Raya touches Kael's arm gently.

Kael scratches his chin, which has at least days of stubble on it.

Raya says 'Now tell me what is the matter? You haven't been waylaid by bandits now have you?'

Kael reaches for a glass of water and almost tips it over.

Kael wipes his brow with a harried expression, then drinks from a glass of water.

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Kael says 'Bandits..? No bandits.'

Kael points to a mighty club, "I bash anyone who looks at me sideways."

Raya gingerly checks Kael's head for some wounds or bruises.

Kael looks grim.

Kael says 'I cannot sleep...for weeks..almost months, I have had fever dreams.'

Raya says 'Well that works. But not if you meet someone who actually have sideway eyes.'

Kael says in a gruff, strangled voice, "Is it the devil upon me?"

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Raya says 'Hm. No sleep? Perhaps you have taken too much kaf? if that is available in this lands.'

Raya says 'Here, let me have a look at you.'

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

The Starling arrives at the docks.

Raya cups your face in her hands and moves your head from side to side.

Kael 's face is flushed, and sweat trickles down his hefty shoulders.

Kael says gruffly, "I only drink beer..no kaf for me."

Raya pats the sweat away from her hands as she pulls down your lower eyelid to peek into your eyes.

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Kael 's eyes are bloodshot and tired.

Raya inspects your skin and your joins, gently touching your wrist and checks your pulse.
She also looks into your ear!

Kael says with a dazed expression, "I had to resign my commission with the commander. Curse these dreams! Everyone thought I was a madman."

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Kael suddenly yells, "Sa souvraya niende misain ye!"

Raya gasps in astonishment.

Kael hurriedly draws away, suddenly looking panicked.

Kael says blankly, "Did it happen again? I blanked out."

Raya stands up and holds her hand in front of you, trying to stop you.

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya thinks deeply for a second, her hand in midair.

A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Raya says 'Dreams you mentioned. Seems they are more complex and troubling than normal dreams.'

Raya stands and prepares a kettle to boil some water.

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Raya pours some lukewarm water over a cup.

Raya gets a pouch of black sleepwell root powder from a belt pack.

Raya gets a sprig of green nightsbane from a belt pack.

Raya grinds a little bit of the black powder and sprinkles them unto the brew.

Raya nods in agreement.

Kael has fallen into a stupor, his eyes are closed, but he tosses and turns restlessly.

A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Kael suddenly opens his eyes, sits up and lunges for your arm!

Raya screams loudly!

Kael says 'Please, Wisdom! You must not speak of this to anyone. Do not tell any Aes Sedai...you hear me?'

Raya grabs for a a big spoon, anything!

Kael yells with a feverish expression, "Inde muagdhe Aes Sedai misain ye!"

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Kael sits back blinking rapidly, all the fight seems to have gone out of him.

Kael stammers, "What..what did I say.."

Raya opens her mouth to speak, but tries to understand what had been said.

Raya lets out a deep breath, realizing she's still grabbing the big spoon.

A lantern held by Raya begins to dim a little.

A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Raya hides a lantern.

Kael looks at you with concern, his well-muscled arms at his side again, "Did I startle you? Did I do something?"

Raya says 'Well, you uhm... That doesn't matter. Please, just sit back.'

Raya says 'Here, take this, sip.'

Kael looks confused, but sits back obediently.

Raya hands you some fresh relaxing tea.

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Kael reaches for a cup and bends over it. The steam seems to sooth him.

Raya says 'Now, let me recall to you what just happened.'

Kael sips from a cup of tea, looking calmer.

Raya says 'Relax, just take it all in and listen to what I say.'

Kael looks up, his expression cautious.

Raya says 'You almost attacked me, yelling something about Aes Sedai.'

Kael clutches the cup as if its his lifeline, and begins to shake his head slowly.

Kael says 'Attack you ? Why would I do that?'

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Raya says 'Now, I'm not a scholar to decipher your words, but they seem to be Old Tongue, and I am not proficient in that.'
Kael says 'I mean you no harm, Wisdom! You must believe me.'

The Starling arrives at the docks.

Raya gently pats your arm.

Raya says 'Yes, yes, I know.'

Raya says 'Sometimes these things happen. Reflex violence, in defense.'

Kael says in a resigned voice, "In the dreams..there were a lot of words being yelled..and I was fighting, all the time fighting."

Raya says 'Happens when wounds are deep, and very painful.'

Kael looks at you with anguish in his eyes.

Kael says 'I thought they would go away..but they only got worse.'

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya nods at Kael.

Kael pulls at his hair, looking distraught, "I had to resign my commission! I had to go up to Lord Santino, the hero who had taught me everything, and say I was leaving."

Kael hangs his head in shame.

Raya pats your shoulder and looks into your eyes with a comforting smile.

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Kael sniffs sadly. *SNIFF*

Raya says 'I don't remember this, but were you of the Winged Guard?'

Raya says 'I'm sorry, but if you had left, then it's alright, it's all in the past.'

Kael nods eagerly, "You have heard of us yes?"

Kael shakes his head suddenly, "Heard of ..them."

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Raya nods in agreement.

Kael says 'All my life, I served Mayene..but then this sickness came upon me.'

Kael sips from a cup of tea.

Kael says 'What do you think I should do, Wisdom? Should I throw myself over a cliff?'

Kael looks at you with anguish in his eyes.

Raya says 'It's all in the past now. It's alright, it's time to move on. But it seems to me that there is something still in the past that needs to be healed.'

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya says 'a deeper past.'

Kael listens closely, a puzzled expression on his face.

Raya motions the cliff notion away.

Raya says 'Why would you consider that when there is something in you that needs to be solved. Something that is not your fault!'

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Kael 's eyes widen with hope. He seems to be sitting a little straighter.

Raya says 'From your dreams, I could decipher that you were a soldier once, as you are now.'

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Kael nods slowly, a faraway look in his eyes.

Raya says 'And that you had some bad... beef? lamb? pork...meat? with Aes Sedai.'

Kael says 'In the dreams...I had brothers and sisters..and a great love for..for..'

Kael seems to be lost in thought.

Raya says 'For...'

Raya says 'take a sip, close your eyes, and recall. A great love for...'

Kael murmurs to himself, "..something for important than anything else.."

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Kael coughs *more

Kael seems lost in thought.

Raya nods at Kael.

Raya stands up and looks out the window deep in thought.

Raya nods to herself, she must need reassurance.

Kael absently begins to hum.

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya tilts her head listening to the melody.

Kael hums a tune that is both soulful and joyous.

Kael hums, "hmm m..toss the dice however they fall..hmmm mm..Jak o'the Shaaa.dows!"

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Kael blinks, suddenly staring right at you.

Kael says 'That song..have you heard that song anywhere?'

Raya says 'out... west.'

Kael rubs his head, mussing up his hair some more.

Raya says 'far west, in some barracks. Old, grizzled soldiers near the mines.'

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

The Starling arrives at the docks.

Raya says 'It's not the same, but familiar, like passed down the generations.'

Kael ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Kael says 'How odd..my horse too always seems to turn west, at every fork.'

Kael says 'When I rode from Mayene I noticed that..'

Kael says 'In fact, I had planned to go east..and die fighting the Aiel.'

Kael looks down sadly.

A Wisdom carries some towels in her arms.

Raya says 'Hm... interesting. Perhaps this... thing, this 'more important than anything else' love, is calling to you from the West.'

Kael looks thoughtful, "Yes..it is as if everything that has happened so far is a dream..and what is in my dreams is real."

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya says 'Kael, I fear I'm not the best healer for this. And I can see there is nothing wrong with you physically. But it seems that, yes.... I've heard of this before... something in dreams, in visions, taking over the body.'

Kael looks thoughtful, "Yes..it is as if everything that has happened so far is a dream..and what is in my dreams is real."

Kael looks down sadly.

Raya says 'Some say it is a Calling, an awakening of the blood.'

Kael 's eyes widen, "Are you saying..am I ..taken by.."

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Kael bends closer and whispers in an almost inaudible voice, "Is it the..tay..n..t."

Kael leans back and coughs loudly as if he said nothing at all.

Kael harrumps loudly!

Raya says 'That, I'm not sure. There's taint, and there's taint.'

Kael makes shushing motions.

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Kael says 'Don't say that out loud!'

Raya says 'If it were real taint, I would be on the ceiling now.'

Kael looks around fiercely, his hand reaching for his club.

Raya says 'To lessen your fear of something, you should name it!'

Raya spanks the hand reaching for the club.

Kael blinks at you, the fight going out of him.

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Raya says 'Taint. I doubt that is what's happening to you.'

Kael blinks at you, the fight going out of him.
A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Kael lets out a breath, seeming much relieved.

Raya says 'But if it is, then look for signs of... strange happenstance in your
environment, not on your physical body.'

Raya says 'if you ears come falling off or fingers, come back to me.'

Kael says 'It is only these dreams that grow more and more real with each passing day.'

Kael says 'It is a song that is impossible to unhear.'

Kael says 'It calls to me each day, each night, each step that I walk.'

Kael thinks really hard.

Kael says 'I shall go west, Wisdom, if that is your advice.'

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Raya nods at Kael.

Raya says 'But... slowly.'

Kael drains the last of his tea and gently places the cup on the table.

Raya says 'take your time, and savor every day, every step going there.'

Raya says 'And also, here is something important.'

Kael listens closely.

Raya hands you a blank book, and a quill pen.

Raya says 'Write down your dreams, as much as you can remember.'

A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Kael takes the book and pen and looks at them warily.

Raya says 'Reflect on them everyday, whatever bit you can remember.'

Kael puts a book and pen away in a backpack.

Raya says 'They will guide you, and perhaps when you see the bigger picture of what they say, you will know what they mean.'

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Raya packs a package of sleepwell and willowbark tea, good for a month.

Raya hands you the package firmly.

Kael smiles suddenly, the battle-scars on his face melting into warm laughter lines.

Raya says 'Every night, in tea. Just a little to relax.'

Raya says 'And every morning, note the dreams.'

Kael says 'Well..maybe I will find out what this is about. But at least I know I am not
going mad.'

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

The Starling arrives at the docks.

Kael takes the package and bows his head courteously.

Raya says 'Well you're not. And who's to say, we all are a little mad.'

Kael smiles at her.

Kael says 'So it is said..thank you Wisdom, I have not felt this light in months.'

Kael says 'Truly it is said, troubles are halved when shared.'

Raya says 'The Arinelle is also clean in the morning. I suggest a skinny dip to refresh your mind!'

Kael gets to his feet, rummaging his backpack.

A Wisdom wipes her hands on her apron.

Raya says 'Beware the laundrywomen though.'

Raya squeezes Kael fondly.

Kael scratches his beard, "Aye, it will be good to get out in the sun again."

Raya gets a thin vial of yellow fluid from a belt pack.

Raya gives you a thin vial of yellow fluid.

Raya nods at Kael.

Kael says 'I have been avoiding the roads, thinking I would accidentally...do..something.'

Raya smiles at Kael.

Kael takes out a few shiny coppers from a backpack.

Kael slides the coppers on a table awkwardly, looking at everything else. You hear him mumble, "For the uh..sheep..fodder."

A torch begins to dim a little.

A Wisdom washes her hands.

Raya chuckles politely.

Raya says 'I have a feeling you will have a very furry lifestyle change soon.'

Kael drops one copper.

Kael drops one copper.

Kael says 'Ah you mean I might find a sheepdog!'

A torch is definitely fading.

Kael says gruffly, "A dog is the best friend a man could ask for."

A Wisdom inspects a jar of herbs.

Kael says 'And now Wisdom, I will not keep you any longer.'

Raya smiles at Kael.

Raya hugs Kael.

Kael says 'But remember me, and if you are ever beset by any enemies.'

Kael tosses a bone club from hand to hand.

Kael says 'I am at your service'

Kael kneels solemnly to Raya.

Raya says 'I will trust in your bone.'

Raya coughs loudly.

Raya blushes.

Raya nods in agreement.

Kael smiles happily.

A torch is about to go out!

A Wisdom mixes some herbs into a poultice.

Kael says 'Good bones make for good soldiering!'

Kael bows deeply.

Kael stops resting, and stands up.

Kael thanks Raya heartily.

Raya nods at Kael.

Raya waves goodbye to Kael.

Raya smiles happily.

Kael trundles out with a heavy, confident tread.
