Robinn Sena had always lead a simple life, content with the quiet rhythm of life in Reedspring. The scent of freshly turned earth, the soft murmur of the river, and the comforting glow of the hearth were all she’d ever known. Her days were filled with the normal activities of tending to the farm, helping her mother with herbal remedies, and spending time with her younger sister, Ryna.
One day, a stranger arrived in Reedspring, a woman in a well made cloak and beautiful white riding deess, her eyes holding a depth that seemed to pierce the soul. Lirene Fiore she called herself, though Robinn would soon come to know her as Lirene Sedai, and she had come to Reedspring on a mysterious errand, her reasons unknown to the villagers.
It was of course while Lirene Sedai was there that Robinn's life took an unexpected turn. A young boy in the village had fallen ill with a fever. Aelis, with Robinn’s help, tended to him, administering herbal remedies and soothing his brow. As they worked, Robinn felt a strange sensation, a tingling in her fingertips. The fever, which had been stubborn, began to subside. The boy’s breathing grew calmer, his skin cooler.
Lirene, who had been coming to aid the child, felt a sudden surge of raw power, a flicker of the One Power. She recognized it instantly. She spent the next several days asking about the Sena family and observing the girl, having her suspicions confirmed when the telltale headaches set in.
Lirene, recognizing the signs, offered Robinn a choice: a life of obscurity in Reedspring, or a journey to Tar Valon, the White Tower, to learn to control the One Power. The decision was a heavy one, but Robinn, with the support of her family, chose the only real path available to her, that of becoming an Aes Sedai.
The journey to Tar Valon was a trial. The roads were long and perilous, the weather harsh. As they traveled, Lirene began to train Robinn in the ways of the One Power. She taught her to meditate, to still her mind, and to feel the flow of saidar. She explained the nature of the One Power, the dangers it could pose, and the massive respomsibility it represented. They would spend countless hours in meditation, Robinn learning to harness the power within her. In so doing, she discovered a strength she never knew she possessed, a connection to the One Power that she found to be both exhilarating and terrifying.
When they finally arrived at Tar Valon, Robinn was filled with a mix of awe and apprehension. The monolith that was the White Tower, as well as the bustling streets, and the seemingly countless Aes Sedai— she found it all overwhelming. But she refused to be daunted. She had traveled too far to turn back or give up now. She was soon brought before Mistress of Novices, Sheriam Sedai, and entered into the Book of Novices, forever setting her life on a new path, filled with both excitement and danger.
