Summer Weapon Changes

Post by cael » Sat Jul 29, 2017 1:36 pm

Any chance we can get a more defined explanation of what changes are taking place to weapon classes, like what weapons got a tick up or down in parry, weight, damage or OB? Or even if there was no change to specific weapons so we have a baseline for comparison. There is precedent for this happening in the past.

Thanks for your consideration.

Going to be testing these soon, similar to my longblades run. I'm mostly curious about offense-to-defense ratio.

Please check the post on wotmudarchives.org forums for how to submit your tests for the EQ trainer and the Wiki.

Bah :P

I am very happy about this for other players who will enjoy testing/trying out new things. But what about boring people like me who can't bear to read through x^7 cos theta limit square variable 3 to use whips if dex is 2.14 less than BMI when mood is wimpy but while riding a grey palfrey in 60 degree weather in a stedding provided you pracced 98 dodge and not 99 :p

Can someone please post a - use this weapon if you are abs/bash and want something that does not-terrible damage and has reliable bash?

Thank you in advance!

Think it is looking like:

Long blades - best OB
Clubs - best bash
Axes - best damage
Polearms - best 2 handed combo
Staves - ??? Defense I think
Medium blades - also defense?

Mallet is 17 lb though and both gsword/csword are 18 lb plus (think even claymore?) which is a bit confusing. (Unless warhammer is some uber bash and mallet is really bad damage - it seemed okish on damage though I did hit a raven from wound to crit with h/h mallet 19 str so hrrm! :P)

Clubs have an inherent bonus to bash

This statement is one of the reasons why I posted a request to imms...

Broad sweeping adjustments to weapons end up with a mountain of anecdoes, misinformation, and vague man-behind-the-curtains statements.

I have no reason to doubt Taziar's post (this isn't meant to be a snarky response) but this is the 1st time I've heard of an hidden bash stat for clubs. I think this highlights that a little more illumination on weapon changes from Imms isn't a bad thing, even if it's just because of my ignorance

As Isabel previously stated, we shouldn't need a degree in advanced mathematics or a sadistic statistics hobby to figure out that an Amber Hilted Med Blade got an uptick to damage.

We most likely will not put forward a treatise on balance, much less a revelation of all the specific stats. However, Thuvia regularly goes above and beyond expectations of a normal player, and her resources and tracking are something that you can help and supplement by complying with the very specific instructions that she regularly provides.

Feel free to add those instructions here, Thuvia, if you would like. The resources that are provided by you, Hress, and others, are invaluable to players and it is very much appreciated. All those that provide you help are also appreciated and noticed.

A more clear man-behind-the-curtains statement to your request is no.

While I empathize with the frustrations that are caused by vague statements and a lack of information, we hope that there is something rewarding with the journey to find that what was once new has become new again.
