Secret Clans
Secret Clans
Do any secret clans actually have recruitment which doesn't hinge on PKing 6+ hours a day or 30+ hours a week for several months?
Play occasionally over the years, love to mud, but don't see any of these real story bending character types achievable to immerse in or dedicate to with my limited playtime. No actual benefit to try with not being one of those ultra hard PKers. So I keep leaving.

Re: Secret Clans
To be fair, one of them does!
Re: Secret Clans
Light Side secret clans include: Wolfbrothers, Iron Fist, Kin, Black Talon
I'd guess Kin is the most casual of the secret clans, but have no personal knowledge to back that up. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Secret Clans
Most would say none of them exist but seeing as this player base is like 30 people and everyone knows they do, if you don't want to pk go and try out for Kin. I hear most of them prefer rp anyway.
Re: Secret Clans
I think it's just the nature of "secret" clans that they are more selective because clanning asshats has such a negative impact. None of the secret clans have serious pk requirements anymore, really. WB probably sets the bar the highest, but really there are plenty average-to-below-average WBs (most are Canadian) and pk skill is not a primary factor so much as attitude. Most BT definitely aren't regarded as great pkers, IF is basically a clan of newbies who murder and drink, and Kin is a lovely place which I hear is open to all manner of girls who are running away from the large, phallic-shaped tower in the center of the map.
My point is, if you think that you can't get in to a secret clan because you aren't a good enough or active enough pker, you are mistaken. The truth is you just need to meet/know the right people and not be an asshat. I think most of them have clanning requirements/procedures which boil down to: be noticed/nominated/sponsored, then be active for a bit and don't firetruck up

Re: Secret Clans
Pretty much what Kyr said. As long as you aren't a tool you stand a pretty good chance. Pending whichever clan you choose is accepting new members of course.
Besides Kin, one of those clans has always had a strong role play initiation and focus. With the mud player base as small as it is, and pk being in the state it stands, role play is now more impactful. For them at least.
Again referencing Kyr, there's a game that has to be played though. I won't say any of the secret clans are or ever have been "elite," but approaching entry and being accepted is a bit of a tightrope walk. They can afford to be, and have to be, more choosy with who gets an invite and is accepted.
Coming to them and being like, "Hey I want a so and so, clan me!" (If of course I was in a secret clan, I imagine this is how it works anyway.) Would be a great way of making most of them forget your name and have them hope you never contact them again. There are ways to accomplish things and ways to sabotage yourself. I mean there's a reason it's "secret."
And of course back to the most important rule, don't be a total jackass. Proclaiming yourself king of Wotmud for instance, is obnoxious. Even if you're simply humoring yourself that kind of dung gets noticed and filed away.
Develop your character. Follow that immersion if you're still capable, and approach someone you think is in the know and have fun with it.
As I recently discussed with an old player who recently returned, everyone should have a chance to reach whatever game goals they have. Minus those things I mentioned of course.
Hopefully these small tips help you out in some way. At the very least those who are interested in this kind of thing, know what not to do, and have a bit more direction of what you should do.

Re: Secret Clans
The real king of wotmud is Ryalth. We all know this.
Re: Secret Clans
So, are you saying if someone played an annoying character, and had an alt that was completely unknown and acted more correctly than said annoying character, they would have chance at one of these clans which would have nothing to do with OOC?
Or are you saying that if said player is annoying on one alt, he must be annoying on all alts, therefore blacklisting said person OOC so he will not be clanned on any alt?
