Questions regarding clans, activity and PK

Hi,

First off, I am a new player, please bear that in mind if you find anything I say inappropriate.

I'm closing in on level 30, which from my understanding is a break point where your hp gains per level will stagnate significantly. This apparently, makes it a good point to start dabbling in PK. Now as I mentioned before, I've only been playing for a week, and while I've had brief episodes of pvp, I would be lying if I claimed I knew what I was doing. I am eager to get involved, and figured I'd find someone to help me get started.

This leads me to my my question:
  • Are there any fairly active clans that are open for recruitment, willing to accept a new player, and show the ropes of PKing?
It would be a major plus if there are members active during european timezones.

Thank you for your time

Hey Bards! All of these are good questions. Everything that follows is my opinion, and I am sure others will disagree or have other advice.

As a LS pker, you have the option of pking the seanchan (SS) or darkside (DS). While there is some sameside pk (male channelers, murderers, etc), it is few and far between. SS has mostly been inactive until recently, so the availability of southern pk is a bit contingent on SS staying active. That being said, if you learn horse loads and utilize coaches, you can run from Emmonds Field to Fal Dara pretty darn quick.

As far as active clans, most recently I have seen the following clans most regularly over the past month or so:

Shienaran Lancers
Dragonsworn
Red Eagles
Legion of Unity

Obviously, I know the Lancers best, as I am clanned with them and have been for a while. I know we have several members who are in the European timezone (including one of our Councilors). Though Lancers generally have applicants who are more seasoned pkers, it is not a requirement and many of our members enjoy teaching new pkers.

Feel free to send me a mail over forums or a tell in game if you have any questions!

-Ash

I agree with Ashlee's choices but would add that you should try pking for awhile before deciding, someone who doesn't like north pk would not be the greatest fit for the Lancers, or ditto for seanchan pk and the Eagles.

Winged Guard is also a good choice. I'm not sure how active they are in game, but they have plenty of 'active' players around who can log on if they have a reason to.

Hi Bardes how are you getting along with this? Just ask on chats if anyone wants to spar with you. Ideally you would both be abs or combo and in a bash setup. You would go to a zone and fight each other until one of you is beat. Then rest up and fight again. They can then give you pointers on what you can do better.

There are also PK guides on the following sites:

http://lyren.me/
http://www.westhorizon.com/wot/pkstrategy.html

That westhorizon site is oldschool but still good and reading the pk logs on their can also be informational and fun.

Thank you all for great responses and advice, truly appreciated!

I'm currently on vacation in Kap Verde with very limited access to Wi-Fi, but I've been reading your responses every now and then.
When I get back on, I will ask chat for sparring to get the basics down. Then I will explore both the North and the West to get an understanding of the zones and differences. I think I will also start alternate characters on the other sides to scout their zones in a more relaxed manner.

Deciding what clan to pursue will prove more difficult than I initially though. Lots of friendly and welcoming people on here!

Again, thank you all for your input.
