If a target is bashed you can throw at it. No throws were happening while you were hitting back, once you got bashed you became a target. Not sure if it bypasses max-engage. Think it doesn't.

I did some quick testing against mobs. I was able to throw at both mobs engaged on me (buffing and not). In the past i have been able to throw at anything in the room (engage or not) and often will kill ravens/ crows while in melee. My throws miss because I only have about 50% projectiles practiced (i use it for killing birds on smob/ xp trips).

Seems like you can't throw at something that someone else is buffing even if you are on them too unless they are bashed.

My browser went crazy when I tried to update the Wot Wiki. I don't know if anything I've posted below would be suitable and I've got a few questions, but here's a start on trying to update the projectile stub.
Projectiles encompasses both the Rogue skill and the weapon class it enables one to use.
Practicing this skill gives residual practices to Bows, Crossbows, and Slings.
Projectiles are used on conjunction with the Throw command, allowing a weapon to be thrown at a player or mob (even flying ones), dealing critical damage.
The skill Palm can be used to obscure the drawing and throwing of projectiles - observers in the room will see the mid-flight projectile message, but will not see the draw nor the initial throw nor know who it was thrown at. Sheathing of projectiles is not obscured.
There appears to be a possibility of delivering a "critical" hit with a projectile if certain practiced skills are combined. It does not appear to be necessary to be a "Rogue" to generate a critical hit. A "critical" hit can be distinguished from a normal hit by the following messages:
The Target spasms in excruciating pain as it is struck by a throwing knife. (Critical)
The Target grunts in pain as it is struck by a throwing knife. (Normal)
It also appears that there is a different "death" message when a critical hit occurs - the above critical message is followed by the R.I.P message.

Projectiles cannot be thrown at targets that are flying high in the sky.

There appear to be limitations on the ability of projectile users to target opponents.
(1) You may throw at any target that you are buffing.
(2) You may throw at a target that is buffing you, but you are not buffing if it is bashed.
(3) You may throw at a target which you are not engaged upon if it is bashed.
Throwing a projectile sometimes requires a timer to be completed before a throw can be attempted.
(1) Drawing a projectile and then throwing it is not associated with a timer.
(2) Wielding a projectile and then immediately throwing it is associated with a timer.
(3) Typing throw while the projectile is still sheathed is associated with a timer.
(4) Wielding a projectile and then waiting a pre-alloted time before throwing is not associated with a timer.
Playstyle
Players who are willing to explore new strategies and push the limits may find projectiles to have interesting unexpected uses. For most players, projectiles are used as an ancillary or novelty skill - for example, killing flying ravens.. They are a time and equipment intensive strategy because the player must collect more projectiles as they use them unless their opponent obliges them by dropping them after being hit. Lower level projectiles like rocks are widely and cheaply available, but higher level projectiles such as throwing knives and throwing spikes must be crafted or located on higher level game creatures. Historically, projectiles were popular because a player with many of them sheathed could rapidly throw a large number of projectiles and the projectile damage was not reduced by an opponents armor absorption. This was addressed many years ago though there is some discussion that critical hit damage may be applied after armor reduction occurs. This is unconfirmed. Targets that are running a bash and are hit by a projectile will have their bash interrupted (Can someone confirm this?)

How long do projectiles last? What is the probability of recovering them from the ground or from the corpse (I've never tried them and would be concerned about maintaining a supply)! Does the recipient get the change to pull the weapon out of themselves (throwing knives type projectiles) and sling it back at the thrower or do they "disappear" on impact?
I suppose some player can make craftable items but would be limited by the normal weapon crafting manufacture of just one per day + the payment for a letter of rights + raw materials. Playing on an alt. recently I finally noticed that crossbows and bows in the warrior practices (never played an ABS alt before
) and I vaguely recall that there might have been a few places where one can use a "proper" ranged weapon like those where the weapon user is not in the same room as the target/victim but cannot remember the details...
