A Solution for Alt Separation on Discord

Post by Gesin » Sat Mar 12, 2022 4:21 pm

This is a solution I found for having multiple Discord Accounts open at the same time without being tied together. It lets you have different friends, conversation, and servers for each character.

This solution is free, but requires a software download. The download info and directions are on this page: https://stackbrowser.com/blog/reddit-an ... e-accounts

If you have any questions, just post on this thread or PM me, and we'll try to get you sorted out. I've tested it out and it is working great so far.

Since the original post, Stack decided to close off its download until they have a brand new 2.0 version out. I still have the original download, but that isn't helpful for the community-at-large.

Plan C: In June 2022 Discord rolled out a feature to add additional accounts to your Windows Desktop Discord App, and then you can just cycle through them.
Note: Either way, for alt separation, you'll need a separate account (and thus likely e-mail, gmail is great for this) for each character.

Pros:
- Utilizes existing Discord.
- Put in passwords once, then just click to switch.

Cons:
- You can only have 5 accounts signed in this way at a time.
- Doesn't show when you have alerts on those other accounts.

Also, if you are using Mudlet's Discord RPC features you will want to set the Discord name (and discriminator, the 4 digit number, though it is not compulsory) in the settings for ALL your WoTMUD Mudlet profiles. This will stop Mudlet from doing anything with the RPC if the name that Discord tells it that is in use is NOT the one set. https://user-images.githubusercontent.c ... 668d06.png
