Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
Play with the practice trainer to see what you can get:

If possible, try to get Lvl 7 survival, otherwise the usual stuff comes to mind...90 notice, 50+ search (depends which areas you're in and which doors you need to open), 85 track is nice for names, etc.
Others can give better, more detailed advice, but for now play around and see what you can get.

Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
uh, i d say try to get a 19 dex rogue...
Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
naa dodge too bad to play anyway. 18 dex combo rogues very viable.
Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
I thought 18 18 17 would be okay for a combo stabber, but I see what everyone is saying about 19 dex for thief pracs. Looks like overall it will save a few pracs, but ill stick with my stats. I got some a solid list of ideal stat ranges to play around with, so I think with the most part I understand it. Now to go try to stab stuff, die, and repeat.
Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
I think its really a preference thing what you do with your pracs when it comes down to the details. Wether you like 4 ride or make do with 3 ride, if you want pick and how much. if you have any use for search, how much survival etc. The basic things would be stabbing pracs 95+ with sneak maybe a little lower, and minimum 86-87 notice and sparry. I've had a glance at the prac trainer and are posting some alternatives of how i might do it:
This first one is if you dont spend alot of time pking in mountains or up north and would like the opportunity to go stab some smobs once in a while that require pick:
32% pick (2 pracs)
88% sparry
99% hide
93% sneak
95% dodge
53% attack
95% backstab
99% shortblades
50% search
42% ride (lvl 3)
87% notice
72% survival (lvl 5)
The second sample is with 7 survival. None of these may be exactly as i do it, but it shows in general terms what pracs i would prioritize.
88% sparry
95% hide
89% sneak
92% dodge
95% backstab
98% shortblades
58% ride (level 4)
87% notice
98% survival (level 7)
Bottom line is to try out different things, and find out what you like. One of the things you learn when you play a rogue is to juggle pracs
Edited the first one to include pick. thanks Yeri

Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
Think you forgot the pick in the first one, Taku.
Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
You definitely want at least survival 6 if you plan on initiating PK up north or out west, that's when the move cost limitation starts. If you're just smobbing and messing about, 5 is good for cutting down on eating/drinking, but survival 1 and a saddlebag full of meat will do too. Surv 7 only limits the move loss to 2, instead of lvl 6's 3 limit. Handy to have, but livable without. I'd prefer survival lvl 6 and wislore 4 to make vials to burn instead of surv 7, but that's me.
Sneak for me works fine at superb. Every point of backstab is more damage on landing. Track 85 is nice, but expensive, but about 30% will give you hint of where your target is. Pick is overrated unless you can afford 75-80+ to open enemy cities. I'd rather have superb projectiles to mess up bashers.
Using your stats, I'd build this.
S.parry 91, steal 25, hide/attack 92, sneak/projectiles 86, dodge/s.blades/backstab 95, search 50, track 78, ride/wislore 58, notice 87, surv 84.

WoTMUD myth or have done testing?Iskveri wrote: Every point of backstab is more damage on landing.
Re: Combo Stabber Pracs
Have done testing, which is easy enough. Next reset, put one prac into it and go out and try to stab trees til you land. It's always pathetic damage, over and over and over. Raise it to 50% and repeat, you'll see more damage. Etc. I'm not saying 95 to 96% = lots of damage or anything, but on my stabbers I always allot as many points as I can to Backstab for damage's sake.
